Schools know that you're just starting, but they usually want to see something that shows you're passionate about the subject & why you want to study. Some require a portfolio, some might just want an essay! The best way to know is just some good research :)
It is expensive, but you can live on a budget and try to find a part time job while you're there to help! Also there are other less expensive cities besides Los Angeles that are still amazing!

A lot of schools will have basic tuition + room & board (if you plan on living on campus), + books & supplies. You can also apply for student loans, but make sure you keep an eye out for scholarships & grants, which don't need to be paid back!
