You speak English in a very clear way and also with a quite posh accent. That reminds me of some of my teachers from the UK. However later I found out that it’s not all British people speak like that, there are also many foreigners in the Uk with all different kinds of accent, it really challenged my ears because they are harder for me to get. But I find English native speakers tend to understand them more easily than me
UK is my second home. Amy needs to explore a bit more. (There are easy go people and difficult people in every country) There are so many different boundaries in every groups.
I think Susan's conversational English is really impressive! One interesting thing though, Susie, I still find a majority of non native speakers who couldn't master the use of "although" by adding "but" afterwards along their phrases. Dunno why! Any thoughts?
Under a Chinese semantic context, a sentence which expresses the adversative (contrast) relations will normally use a fixed adversative relation phrase to connect the two parts of the sentence. The phrase contain 2 words, with one leading the sentence (equivalent to Although in English) , the other one leading the second part of the sentence ( equivalent to "but" ) to show the contrast. When applying this Chinese mindset to spoken English, pp tend to literally translate the CHinese sentence in his mind into "Although....., but...." (which in CHinese, this is a must of that adversative phrase).
As a Chinese, I prefer the North Yorkshire tap water, which tastes much better than in London🤣. Maybe that's one of the reasons that I love North Yorkshire so much😚.
I found sushi rice is quite similar to Taiwanese rice, texture wise. A bit chewy and contains more moisture than long grain rice. I used to spot it from lidl, or other more affordable supermarket chain like poundland or aldi, etc. Just go for the sushi rice or short grain.
The Japanese had a slogan during the period they ruled Taiwan (1895-1945): “Agricultural Taiwan, industrial Japan.” They brought several varieties of Japanese rice to Taiwan and began working to improve them in hopes of developing a variety that would grow in Taiwan, but suit Japanese tastes. These “japonica” varieties had a chewier texture and a somewhat stickier mouthfeel. Ponlai rice (蓬萊米)is a fine example. It's a tribute to Japanese emperor Hirohito.

UK likes to make simple daily life complicate . Housing . Renting flat . Finding Job. Transportation . Tax . Energy fee . Setup business . Walk on street at night time …… the list go on….😅😅
I quite like UK, I like almost everything there. However as an Asian looking person, you are always the outsider or minority, walking down the street or going to any public place, the feeling of looking different is quite uncomfortable for me. Less than 5 years is fine, if longer than that, you can become quite stressful. I prefer the feeling of blending into the crowed with other people who look like me. The world is not yet a truly melting pot so I think it’s a human instinct to stay with their own kind. (Unless you want to experience something new, but that’s only for short term, in the long term, most people will go back to what’s most in line with their human instinct). I know some people have to make a living in foreign country or they happened to be born abroad so they have no choice but living with different people, it’s a great experience but it’s not without downside-I know identity crisis is a suffering mental illness that is not spoken out loud but it’s definitely there
English Speaking Country.
Amy 最後說的應該就是壯遊的目的,
強化跟世界的連結,
也完善自己的生命意義。👍
聽起來英國人都好善良,連毛小孩都是;

飲食文化雖然不同,習慣後還是能克服;
