The sun is about 2.7 million miles in diameter which means you’d need t make 2.7 million miles of cable to go once around like right at the edge of the melt your cable heat of the corona. If we could make 100 million miles of cable and get it to stay in place around the sun presumably spinning one revolution every 88 days like Mercury the ability to produce, maneuver, position etc.. would basically take the ability to be able to travel the stars in order to create such a thing. We haven’t even gotten to the part where a fabric is made that withstands the solar winds, heat, and is immense enough to block 20% of the surface area of the sun.
