As an autistic/neurodivergent person, this song basically sums my whole life 🌈 In particular "I won't walk down the same old road they all follow, it only leads to a life not meant for me". Doing things differently to everyone else, because I know how I need to do things to make myself happy, not going by societal expectations. The "normal" way of doing things pushed me into the deepest depression of my life, as I get older, with a diagnosis and more self understanding, I owe to myself to not do that to myself anymore and do things my own way, even if people don't understand, no one can take my dream from me, no matter how long it takes me, even if it takes longer than most to do it, I'm going to chase that dream of mine and make a life for myself I can feel happy in and proud of x

This is one of the first songs I truly remember playing on repeat.
I had it downloaded to my phone via a RUclips to mp3 website as you couldnt access this on Spotify due to it being a "RUclips special" and I listened nonstop on repeat for so many days on end.
9 years later, I'm on the bus listening back to another of Andy Black's amazing tracks from his first solo album and I just had to come back on RUclips to find this masterpiece again.

I know I have said this before but I am saying it again. My autistic daughter was drawn to this song before she could even talk. She took my headphone from my ear and put it in her own. My daughter was unable to talk until she was 5, even getting a variation in expression was difficult at times. Something in this song moved her to smile. Thank you, Andy
That's so amazing! My daughter struggled for a long time, too. Music has always been her go to for expressing herself, or quoting favorite movies becayse sometimes it's still hard for her to process her own feelings without doing those things. Music is such a universal language

Not surprising that Andy Black puts out one of if not his greatest and most-relatable songs-and yet commenters want to talk about how "sexy" and how "adorable" he is. Sure, with the way our culture is aligned, he is an unmistakable heartthrob-but to me this song speaks infinitely louder than how he looks and dresses.
