Hey Nick. I'm glad you did this video even though it's from a few years ago.I just recently got one of these pouches and was able to complete my security rig.I was thinking the exact same thing in needing to use speed strips or something to hold the rounds inside the pouch.
Was introduced to this on a rather strange video I stumbled across way too late at night. The video in question was a speed loader instructional video for Indiana police recruits (you’ll see it very briefly near the beginning of the video of you do decide to look it up)
@@collectornick4270 yup that’s the one. I stumbled across it after watching another video which said that officers of the Dallas Police force were no longer allowed to carry revolvers (even if some officers are more comfortable carrying revolvers than the modern automatic handguns). That training video is how I learned that officers would carry speed loaders on their belt as a replacement for the dump pouches
These were issued equipment in the ‘70s when a buddy of mine was shot trying to reload his revolver. We were trying to arrest three armed robbery suspects in 1974 when they decided to shoot at us. My buddy eventually recovered and I was fortunate to walk away unhurt.
Used these in police work. The first ones I had did not have the hinge, you unsnapped it at the bottom and the cartridges came straight down into your hand. Had my father load some dummy rounds to practice with. Got pretty fast with it. On timed fire where you had to reload I would have my second string going downrange before anybody else on the line.
When i discovered these were a thing i was amazed that something kinda makeshift was like this lol Often at least when it comes to depiction of old school police and security, they had the gun belts with individual bullets loaded or those dump pouches. Growing I wondered “how did they get their fingers in hard leather pouches?!” The idea is smart honestly, and practice most definitely makes perfect to drop the empty casings, pop the pouch and grab every round, load it, and get back to greasing. 10/10 vid Im definitely grabbing some just to have for my revolver set up lol
I have had the double pouch for a couple years. So I ordered another as well as two single pouches. The single pouches have a metal insert that keeps the shape/protects the rounds. I wonder if it will still work with speed strips. I wonder if they sell the inserts.
It's a Timex but it doesn't look like they sell it anymore, here is the closest one I could find. www.timex.com/mk1-aluminum-40mm-nylon-strap-watch/MK1-Aluminum-40mm-Nylon-Strap-Watch.html?dwvar_MK1-Aluminum-40mm-Nylon-Strap-Watch_color=Black&cgid=men-military-inspired#start=1
Were they basket ? Hmm didn't notice ill check it out next my dad gave me a couple of old ones that were given to him by security at a private airport he worked at they weren't Air force but affiliated with it by contracts my dad was Army tho that's the first 2 places I saw this concept

Also called a dump pouch partly because it would dump the rounds everywhere but your hand

Oh yeah I think I've seen it. Isn't it a video from like 1989 or so?
