Hey Jacob! Another Western New Yorker! Yeah this probably the most popular fitness app for cycling. It’s like the Facebook for fitness. Let me know if you have any questions.
It will track your run, even with mobile data off, and once you connect to internet it will load, and you will be able to see the map with you run. GPS should work without data.
You have to set that in privacy. It isn’t automatically done. You have to set your home address and then choose zone distance that you want to set private so that any run you start or finish in that zone will be masked
It is a great video but I am just trying to figure out how to edit my favorite sports and I cannot find any way to get back into the settings to do that. Any ideas? thanks.
Did you delete it by accident? You can either manual upload again using the + button or use the file from your watch to upload it using a file in your watch.
Is it possible to set a certain amount of distance you want to do on your run? And if so, is it possible for it to tell you when you completed the distance.
Unfortunately I don’t believe you can set a certain time or distance for individual runs on strava however if you use Garmin or another third party app like NRC you can use that and then sync the run over to strava. Other apps allow you to do just like that.

On the bottom should be profile with a persons head and then when you click that there should be a wheel on the top right that takes you to settings and then within settings you can navigate towards third party apps or devices which you can setup there. I hope this helps.
I'm trying to figure out how to use this on my pedal kayak with an Android. I want to log the route I took, my speed, etc. Is there a training somewhere for this?
Hey James, I believe for the watts you need one of those third party devices that can help calculate that like a heart strap and connect with Strava. Most regular fitness watches doesn’t have the ability to give any data.
So I found out The Strava mobile app does not currently support indoor or stationary recording so you can use the Wahoo Fitness app instead and then sync the activity to Strava.
Hi Ayman, if you are referring about third party apps, you can log in to strava on the website and or pc version and you can click on apps in the drop down.

Currently, you can lose your achievements when switching activity type so I would check the activity and click the refresh activity achievements to see if that works. I hope this helps but if it’s still not working I would send a message to Strava in the app for troubleshooting and they are good at helping.

I notice Strava would set the location as a region/state in general but for my case, Strava also mentions the district I am living in before stating the state, which made me a bit uncomfortable making the activity public to everyone. Thank you very much in advance!
Hi there, yep the location of your activities is new. It’s based on your gps during the run and what Strava decides is your location which is not 100% accurate. As far as I know the only way to limit that is to adjust your privacy settings so only followers or friends can see it. There’s no way to control it individually yet which i know is annoying. You can also set it to private if you don’t want anyone to see it.

Hello I have been using Strava for a while but when I decided to upgrade my display changed from average speed to current speed 😐 how do I change it back to average ?
That’s strange. When it’s on start mode it should have current speed. I would check when you go to settings if auto pause is turned on or not as that might affect it.
I was using Map My Run app before Strava. It would announce every mile and split pace. Does Strava have such a feature? I cant seem to find it. Thanks for any help!
Hi Larry, It does in a way. If you are using your phone when you hit record on the bottom you’ll see an option to click on “routes”. There you can build your route or if you already made a route prior which you can either do on phone or computer you should be able to see it there. Then it would give you a live map as you are moving showing you where to turn. I don’t believe it offers turn by turn voice direction though.

Thanks so much! One question - I see that my menu on the bike changes at times and there's a counter showing up in the left hand side, top, of the screen. What does that mean? Is that a segment that someone else did that you should be trying to beat?
@@RunWithJ It was on my phone in the middle of a ride. The BAD part is, I can't see the screen without my glasses, and I don't ride with my glasses! Ugh.
That’s most likely the live segments function that lets you know when you’ve entered a segment so you can time yourself. You can disable that in the top left settings button and turn off live segments. I hope that works for you.
How to find total mileage per week or per month? I tried dashboard, activities, but not easy to get it. Thanks. I got mileage for one year at end of year. Thanks.
Hi Xiaoping, if you're using the app it should just be under the profile tab on the bottom and it should be in the middle of "this week". For month you would go to the "training" icon on the bottom and it should give you the monthly numbers. For the website in your dashboard, your weekly mileage should be on the left hand side under this week and for the month you would hit Training drop down on the top and go to training calendar. Let me know if that works for you.
Yes, it will need to locate where you are in order to map the route or your activity correctly. You can either use just the phone and carry it with you or you can sync it up to a watch that has gps capability and this way you wouldn’t need to have internet and you can just carry the watch and then it will sync up when you are at home or in WiFi range.
No. runwithj is wrong. You only need internet to sync your run/bike/swim at the end. You just won’t have the map, but gps doesn’t need mobile data. You can stop your run and wait until you get home to sync it
Great content. But the voiceover style shouts that the narrator apparently thinks that much of what he is saying is obvious or boring and "I am just getting through this." This is not effective.
I agree for a user that wants simplicity it could be an overload of information. I haven’t used the regular exercise app on the Apple Watch for cycling but I remember for running it only had a few lines of info.
For me once I finish and save an activity, I go to my profile or my feed to see the activity and it lists those information in the middle along with time, distance, elevation, average heart rate etc.

Hi, I record all my rides with my Fenix watch, then it is automatically uploaded to Strava, this is all good except for Indoor rides. I have to enter the distance in Garmin manually, but by the time I do that it has already been uploaded to Strava without the distance. How do I then input the distance into Strava? I've tried to edit the activity but it does not give me the distance option. I understand the Manual entries but then I'd lose the heartbeat and cadence data from the watch. Any ideas?
Hey there. I don’t bike as often but I’m thinking either an outside heart rate monitor would work other wise I don’t know of a way that would work into manual entries.
Does Strava has countdown start?
I don’t believe it has a countdown timer and once you hit start it just starts recording
@@RunWithJ thnx 4 d reply. Cheers
No problem. Good luck!
Can I start a club?
You can but I believe you have to use the computer version not the mobile.
Thanks so much! One question - I see that my menu on the bike changes at times and there's a counter showing up in the left hand side, top, of the screen. What does that mean? Is that a segment that someone else did that you should be trying to beat?
Hi LeeAnn are you referring to the record screen when you are starting or in the middle of a ride on the phone?
Does this app need internet when we are recording??
Yes, it will need to locate where you are in order to map the route or your activity correctly. You can either use just the phone and carry it with you or you can sync it up to a watch that has gps capability and this way you wouldn’t need to have internet and you can just carry the watch and then it will sync up when you are at home or in WiFi range.
No. runwithj is wrong. You only need internet to sync your run/bike/swim at the end. You just won’t have the map, but gps doesn’t need mobile data. You can stop your run and wait until you get home to sync it
@@wilouxwiloux7164 thanks
@@RunWithJ thanks
Thank youuuuuu
You’re welcome!!
Great content. But the voiceover style shouts that the narrator apparently thinks that much of what he is saying is obvious or boring and "I am just getting through this." This is not effective.
Thank you Douglas for the feedback
this app is so needlessly complicated. all i want is an app that calculates calories burnt from cycling. none of this other clutter
I agree for a user that wants simplicity it could be an overload of information. I haven’t used the regular exercise app on the Apple Watch for cycling but I remember for running it only had a few lines of info.
@@RunWithJ thanks for your reply, do you know how to use it to track calories? i got the free trial to unlock all the features and i'm still baffled.
For me once I finish and save an activity, I go to my profile or my feed to see the activity and it lists those information in the middle along with time, distance, elevation, average heart rate etc.
@@RapidBlindfolds Login to strava online and go to my profile and input your weight and your gear for cycling. I tried and tested and it worked for me.
@@windbriker351 thanks for your response, just did this. did it update the number of calories on your previous cycles? or did you only notice it counting calories with the subsequent cycles you did.
Sport i indonesia
Get to it. Thanks
Why yap yap yap
I dont know why but ever aicne beginning of year, i havent been able to choose a sport. It always just shows running or biking... When I do record activity, I click the Bike symbol and thr onlt option is bike and run. I cant choose anything else...
That’s interesting. I just tried with my phone and I’m able to select the sport of my choice.
Hello St Bede’s people
👍
Thank you Ellen for stopping by!
Strava LoL
😂
Wow! Sounds like a massive invasion of privacy.
Yeah, you really need to go in there to adjust the privacy settings like privacy zones. Strava did disable flybys for everyone unless someone turns it on themselves. They also use your runs to make their maps better and to get data for the metro areas. You can hide your maps for all activities and that should help.
