I would like to tell you guys thanks for the clean non propaganda entertainment. I don't even turn on the boob tube any more. Merry Christmas and think you for your time.
31:40 When my wife and I started dating, she wa 16, and I had a 1975 Chev Sq Body, 1/2 ton with a 250 in line 6 (the one with the intake manifold cast in one piece with the head! :) , and three on the tree ... (AND it was only 4 years old! :) We drove that truck for decades! :) when i scrapped it It was a full one ton, with the Hydro Boost Power Brakes, a 350 4 barrel, 4 speed Muncie with bull low, 14 bolt rear end, and a 12 foot flatbed. the only original part of the truck left was, most of the cab, the radio, and the serial number :)
Paul looking at the video when Michelle got into the wood truck she had a big smile on her face I think she was remembering the younger days when you two daily drove that truck and from what I saw she remembered some good times because it was a big smile she had on her face!!!! Merry Christmas to you and the entire family and crew at fab rats !!!! Hope to see more content before next year!!!
I miss my old square body! It was a straight six with a rusted out bed when I got it. Ended up with a 40 overbore 350 4 bolt main with 2.02 heads and 3/4 race cam & rollers! A 4 speed out of a 66 GTO to make use of the HP! Hurst floor shift too! Still have the tranny, shifter bellhousing and clutch assembly somewhere in my shop. I rebuilt the bed on my lunch breaks at work by mounting the bed on the truck frame upside down. My coworkers used to laugh at me. I flipped the licenses plate upside down so it was now right-side up in the back, and swapped the wiring so turnsignals and taillights worked the right direction. It took me 6 months to get the beds floor rebuilt 30 minutes a day!
Love seeing that old truck being remodeled from the boneyard where possible. The video production seems even better this time with clips that show more of the character of the people involved.
I have a 75 shorty but its lowered on air you'd right these trucks are ageless you would think a truck that is so square wouldn't look good but a square body just has a mean look to it
Hay Michelle and Paul. we heard your Brother remember your first date or was it honeymoon in that truck but on your test drive you looked like you were remembering a younger Paul too. that was cute. good memories I'm sure. what a nice couple. 👍👍👍
I have an old 84 3/4 ton that I bought with a snowplow for $3 grand 10 years ago. The engine runs great but I had to replace the front inner axle from abuse. I guess I need to check the universal joints more often. I’ve had 2 Blazers and 5 pickups from that era. They are easy to work on. I even bought the Helms manuals and did the automatic rebuilds.
@@shroom903 Here in Alaska bad automatics are common from people taking off when it’s below zero without warming up things. I traveled around the state some for work and even taught some people in these remote places how to rebuild them in the evening s after work.
I bought one back in 2011 it’s on my pic, it’s a 86 M1008 it’s a military version of the 1 ton, military ones are ton 1/4 also known as 5/4tons she’s mint only has 32K on motor & it’s a 6.2 diesel with turbo 400 tranny, 456 gears & a Detroit locker in the rear with 6” lift & 37” tires… we all need one….
it was awesome to see you two take a ride in your old daily driver! i think you were both having some fond memories, even though they werent said out loud. time goes by so fast doesnt it?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I'm not sure about the sissy prybar with the PADDED HANDLE at 4:30, but the ziptie holding the windshield wiper together at 31:50 is Pure Fabrats !! And, Gotta love a gal that likes your pickup truck! Oh, and where can I get me a Green Hammering Device ?!?!? Paul (and Sean's) favorite tool!
I don't know why, but I enjoy watching you guys work (as I sit here lazily in front of my computer). It was informative watching you swap out the full suspension. And I learned a new trick - putting pliers in a vice to hold small stuff.
First truck was a 74 K10 I did all those tricks to 20+ years ago. I now have a few square bodies, a 69, 61 and an 04 Chevy truck. Those old trucks are the best and will never not be cool. They are timeless
I was expecting a video wrapping up the LS swap on the wrecker. This was enjoyable to watch, and I learned more yet again. Great to see these trucks and parts repurposed and kept running.
Good video this week, as always! Up grades on the square body wood truck, finish it with new breaks, the truck needs them, and will keep you safe! I hope Jase's ankle is okay. Shawn and Hunter work well together when alone! Til next time, see you then. 😊
Greetings Fab Rats, your families, friends, fans! Always great to see your projects! Hope everyone is well, take care, be safe, and have a wonderful Holidays!
It’s amazing how you can upgrade your rig with parts that have been broken in already 🤣 which is always a good feeling!! Thanks for sharing the process.
After watching MORR, Trail Mater, Mischiefmaker, and others, I must say that Paul's Axle Table is Uniquely impressive. It is bespoke and ideal for its purpose while still being versatile enough to tackle lots of other jobs. That table and the crane make his shop incredible.
I miss haulin wood. I am from New Mexico. Used to have to haul fifteen cord a year just to the family homes comfy. Now I live in Minnesota and in a apartment, yuk. Well I am here for my step daughter and her children. They needed help and my wife says I gotta go. So I said we gotta go. I can't live without her. Well back to you guys. Please film as much as you can of the wood trip. I really miss the west. Jemez springs, New Mexico is a beautiful little town in the mountains. I love what you all do. You take me back quit a bit with all you do. Thank you
They need some TOC. Someone's gotta save these old truck! Can see the pride when he talks about it, an the memories, regrets from treating her so good over the years. Awesome core memories 🙌 Now bout that winch??
No hydroboost braking system as I see a regular power brake vacuum tank/body there and no hydraulic line from the pump to it either... I would chance to say when all parts are rounded up, it will go on the rig. Nice work Paul and crew
Nothing like a good old square body you guy's did a great job with the upgrades to it well done guy's thank you for sharing.I have a 46 year old 42 and 28 year old squares
I had a 79 pickup just like that very much and that was my favorite truck I really wish I still had that thing I had a lot of good memories in that too and I just love watching this everything you guys do thank you very much
Some huge upgrades. I would love to convert my K20 to a Dana60 in the front and I really like that square pipe you installed in the front to reinforce the frame. Very nice.
Nostalgia, a piece of history rejuvenated. Almost ready to haul wood. Amazing the amount of space in the engine bay! How is Jase's ankle? How long is he out for?
You gotta love a girl who just nonchalantly comments, “worked good enough,” after she’s been your girl for a few couple years, and the mother of your four children. She’s a keeper!!!
Is the "Ole' Wood Truck" the only vehicle Paul drives without a cracked windshield? This was a fine job lovingly putting everything back using experienced parts. And a few parts "off the shelf"!
When I was in high school all the pickups he'd gun racks in the back window in hunting season most of them had a gun in the rack love it thanks for sharing love the Chanel ❤❤
I still own my 1986 GMC High Serria SWB 4x4 I bought new the frame broke at the steering box haven’t fixed it yet love your mom interaction with y’all and the cat to ✝️🇺🇸
I thought i was building a junk yard offroader with my 77 stepside chevy. Then i see the amazing work of fabrats! Make me feel like im on the right track haha just need a dana 60 over my dana 44 then id be set. Keep up the great work! Inspiring stuff for us building outta a two car garage.
Paul , I chuckled when you lifted that dif and asked if it means you're getting old . I'm 63 and now when I try lifting something I end up turning to my 24 year old son and ask him to do it . Getting old hurts lol
Excellent video yet again. Loved the mods on the wood truck square body. The front-end mod fabrication was good improvements for this truck, which I'll definitely follow your input to future old trucks myself on that zone. And your shop crew is top notch, even when they stepped in while you went to the ballgame. I do indeed aspire to have such a great crew of few working with me some day as well. Again, excellent work on this project truck! 👍
Walla Walla, Wa. My home town and still living here. Great place to raise kids! If your every this way in the winter could do the Jubilee run April 1st when they open the high country. Love you guys! Merry Christmas!
I had a 1978 k10 with a 427 in it man I miss that truck also had a 1980 k5 blazer with a rebuilt 350 bored 40 over. I wish i would of never sold my squarebody chevys they don't make trucks like them anymore. Also you have one of the best wife's out there to let you bring all these vehicles home.
I have tried to watch this episode 3 times each time I feel asleep. This, this is my fourth time. I'm gonna watch It. Cause I just woke up Being a truck driver is hard
I think back when Hunter hit the Garage with the tractor He was saying Paul was out tending with the Farm Animals? It would be nice to see them all and how the rest of your property looks like. Just for us who don't know how it looks because we live so far away. This is my favorite channel ever. So glad to see the Woods truck getting some Love also. I miss cutting firewood i had a 85 ford F159 short bed. I out some 36 in supper Swampers on it and cut the front fenders so they didn't rub. I payed $75 from a friend for it. He just had a used 302 put in it and when the guy who out the motor in it started it the engine reved up like it was floored. My friend who sold me it was there when i got it home and i put gas in it and battery. I started it and it sounded like it was floored and we looked for a vacuum leak and he found it. Was the plate under the carb. There is a round thing andnit was rusted out i took it off didn't have another one so i packed it with aluminum foil. Worked like a charm. That truck went everywhere never got stuck all four tires spun all the time. Im a Chevy guy but this truck was my best ine. I let a friend use it to cut wood for a couple weeks and he killed it bent the frame and the front end was smashed in from hitting a tree. I was so mad i told him leave my yard before i killed him. Never again did i ever let any use any of my vehicles again
Man I love them ol square body’s. You’re making me want to get back on my 80’ k20. Not gonna lie though I kinda liked how the front bumper, push bar and winch looked on it. That’s a pretty cool ol wood hauler.
I also had a 79 chevy square body 350. For $500, it brought me a lot of fun and memories until I spun a bering. It knocked 35 miles home. I sold it for $600, even with the spun bering, made a hundred and great memories!
Love the 76 77 front end. The headlights are separate from the blinkers. In my opinion it looks a lot better. Nice square body! Love my 75/78/84 k5 (all the same truck) hahaha
Good to see Hunter actually doing some mechanical stuff. I've been watching how he's gradually getting into the builds, huge experience for him. Wood truck getting some love is another good thing. I also enjoy the little "upgrade" hints Paul drops, thank you. I have the same problem with gloves getting smaller, bought some XL size 11, my usual size and they feel like the next size down, really tight on the fingers.
Jace can play basketball well, Hunter can drive a tractor well, Shawn can mechanic on stuff well and Paul can smile bigly longtime like a giddy teenager as he reminisces about his first, old, square body Chevy wood truck...nice. Fab Rats videos are da bomb. ;)
I can fully understand Paul's love of that truck. I'm fortunate enough to still have my 1st car sitting in my driveway at the moment. She needs a fair bit of love at the moment, but I'm looking at how to get it back to top shape. Also got my dad's truck that I want to throw money at because as nice as new ones are, old trucks still work as hard.
My 79 went from a 1/2 ton 6 lug, auto, small block, to a 3/4 ton, 8 lug, 4 spd, big block. Keep em alive brothers😊

I for one am pleased to see Shawns confidence become commensurate with his skills. He is a boss !
Yeah combined with the episode where they went to his previous job - did I miss them saying what he used to do ? Was it city maintenance?
@@ellwoodwolf missed that
He worked for the state.
Yep got to agree with that. He has more skill and knowledge than he lets on.
I miss my old square body!
It was a straight six with a rusted out bed when I got it. Ended up with a 40 overbore 350 4 bolt main with 2.02 heads and 3/4 race cam & rollers! A 4 speed out of a 66 GTO to make use of the HP! Good job on the filming Hunter. Not just a tractor operator after all!😀
I have a 79. Had it since 92. Been through a couple transformation s. Love it. Ageless. Keep up the great vids man. God bless.
My dad bought a 79 Sierra back in late 78. I drove it until I went to college in 85. Loved that truck. Wish I had one now.
I have a 75 shorty but its lowered on air you'd right these trucks are ageless you would think a truck that is so square wouldn't look good but a square body just has a mean look to it
Very nice. I can tell how much sentimental value the ole wood truck has for you Paul. Thank you for taking us along and sharing
So loved doing the live lobsters for Christmas Eve! What a great gift. Merry Christmas all!
The wood truck is my favorite! I love the chop it has in the idle.
Wood truck wrenching during the day and lobster dinner at night! Life is good for the Cox family! Awesome fans to send such a fancy meal!
Hay Michelle and Paul. we heard your Brother remember your first date or was it honeymoon in that truck but on your test drive you looked like you were remembering a younger Paul too. that was cute. good memories I'm sure. what a nice couple. 👍👍👍
Everyone needs a Squarebody, These new trucks will never make it 40 yrs.Shawn and Hunter make a great team.
Yeah If you have the means to make sure the front of the frame doesn’t break off hahahahahaha

Well now... that was some good explaining... I've had those pumps apart a bunch of times and never knew anything about adjusting pressure.
The old square body's are the best. I had a 1981 and it broke my heart to sell it. Good to see that one getting some love.
The white truck is one of my favorites on the fab rats fleet, glad to see a video on it.
Now the video is complete, Michelle's badass pause in the wood truck is tough. God bless the Cox family.
I love watching you guys repurpose old parts and your "supply" yard for those parts!!!!

Hunter I'm glad to see that your doing more and more in the shop and not just being a camera man 😂
The Shawn and Hunter show was great. They work very well together.
Enjoy listening to Sean, the questions he asks, the remarks he makes to Hunter etc. Knows his stuff for sure!!!
I cant help but notice lately that Hunter is doing alot more work then just holding a camera. He's learning something. There's hope yet...lol
was thinking of commenting on the same thing, Good on ya Hunter.
Can you say anything besides laugh out loud, you make a comment and then you step on it by saying that stand behind what you say..
Wish I was a car mechanic, you and your fellow mechanic do such an awesome job, love watching you guys work,👍👏👏👏👏❤

My very first car was a 73 T-Bird that I paid $500 for. I drove it for about 5 years before getting rid of it.

1 Good ol' truck.
Kind of brings me back to the days of my 2nd vehicle, a 1978 chevy blazer.
Paul "I like It" . Just so many good sayings and catch phrases

I also had a 79 chevy square body 350.
For $500, it brought me a lot of fun and memories until I spun a bering.
It knocked 35 miles home.
I sold it for $600, even with the spun bering, made a hundred and great memories!
I love how the cat is just chillin. Not affected by any noises in the shop
Love the square body truck. Glad to see you're still using it - wish I had my first car: 1979 Cadillac Eldorado (Coupe) Biarritz.
I'm envious. Living in Maine my 2006 has rusted out while that 40+ year old truck still looks great.
Thanks for the date👍🏼
Another great video. Sean and Hunter got it down.💪🏼
Love the 76 77 front end. The headlights are separate from the blinkers. In my opinion it looks a lot better. Nice square body! Love my 75/78/84 k5 (all the same truck) hahaha
My 98 is my favorite truck ever! Wishing I still had my 77

That winch would go nicely on the m1028 my son and I are building. Would happily pay shipping or whatever is needed. Love the channel!
I love these old square bodies I really have to get back to work on mine
This is Random. But I love the little SHOP Cat, you just randomly Spot him in the videos.
Also love this truck build. Pretty awesome
The wood truck has had a long life of hard work and some abuse. Glad to see the old girl get some love. Hope Jaces ankle is okay.
That winch would be awesome on my trailer and I should be up there next week!!!!
He just builds everything tough like a, derby car, back in the good old Derby Days,. But it's so damn tough awesome work Paul ,c

Chubby shop kitty warms my heart.

Noooiiiice!! The wood truck gets another life. Do my OCD a favor and move the door moldings to match the height on the rest of the truck 🤣🤣🤣
Good job Guys, love recycling lsrts, built few just like that, junkyard gems
I'll be running back up through there Thursday afternoon, I'll be happy to grab that winch Paul.
