Taekwon-Do Self-Defense: Release from a wrist hold #1

In this video I show you one way of how to release from a wrist hold. The technique shown is basic, yet very effective, even against attackers who are stronger than you. I explain in detail how move your body and distribute your weight and how to apply leverage principles to open a strong grip with less effort. There are other ways of releasing from this type of hold and they will be shown in other videos in this series on Taekwon-Do Self-Defense.

does self defense exist in taekwondo wt and itf?

Taekwon-Do is an art of Self Defence so of course it exists in Taekwon-Do. If you mean: do grappling techniques exist in Taekwon-Do then the answer is yes for ITF. I don't do WT so I can't answer for them. In ITF we do not go into too many complicated grappling moves because it is more practical to strike the opponent. In ITF we also do self defence whilst lying down or sitting down. Many people do not know this because they only see what Taekwon-Do shows in the competitions.
