I'm not going to like this. It's an aromatic pipe blend, and I DON'T like aromatic pipe blends... usually. Oh, what the heck, I'll give it a try. Maybe I'll be surprised.

If I owned a Dunhill 1964 pipe, it would not get anywhere close to any aromatics I wasn`t sure I`m going to like.... you do not lack courage😉. Thank you so much for yet another review!
Thanks for watching!
I tried this for the first time last night and I LOVED it. It tastes like eating a donut with bacon sprinkles on top.
Not your thing Bradley, but certainly lands squarely in the middle of what I enjoy.
Cheers!
Is your friend Chance still in the pipe hobby? I still remember when you two went to the senate smoke shop together 😊
I think he still has a pipe once in a great while.
@@stuffandthingsyoutube cool. It would be neat to see him react to some of the blends you review
I actually love this blend. It's a favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Still loving this series 🐸And no, I ain't no sadistic Patrick Bateman 😄What about Erinmore or St Bruno Flake. Those are both classics without being right up your alley.
🤣🤣🤣 Dang! Now I have to buy some!
This is actually one of my favorites. I love English blends and this one just sets it over the top. I’ll smoke latakia bombs all the time but I’ll keep coming back to this.
Batches are perhaps updated and or inconsistent. I have a tin dated 10/2023 and it’s very Latakia forward in tin note and flavor. Very light vanilla. Perhaps it’s the youth of this tin.
I have this in my drawer waiting to open. But have 9 jars of open tobacco that I want to reduce prior to opening up new blends. Smoked the last of Hill of Slane from st Patrick's Day and trying to smoke down others to try some spring and summer blends. I hope to enjoy this one, as I love vanilla!
This actually sounds great to me!
I love SGs Navy flake - V.+Lak.+Rum and S.G. Perfection - English + vanilla. I don't usually like aromatics as well, but SG makes great blends with just a hint of something, and that something doesn't taste chemical...
Do you think this might compare?
I have two tins waiting to open of this one. Can't wait till fall!
actually , it doesn't sound repulsive . will give it a try
Thank you for this👏🏻 I have often wanted to try this, but feared the same outcome.👍🏻
Glad I could help!
When I bought that one, I kept it open in my car for a few days. My glovebox smelled like cake icing for a week after! I wanted to like it more, but felt the underlying tobaccos were kinda weak. One of the best "crossover" Englishes I've ever had was Gawith's Perfection, a true Gawith style English with a whisper of vanilla coming through occasionally. Of course, having said that, I doubt Bradley would like that one either!😉
I bought a tin of Perfection more than 20 years ago. It was just weird. The Sutliff blend Bradley smoked sounded like Lane's HGL (for Herman G. Lane) Mixture. The Perfection was far superior to that, but it's a pretty low bar.
Thanks for sharing!
Cross Eyed Cricket. It's an abomination, but it's delicious! Like 80s candy, every flavor is there but you can't stop. Fruit punch drizzled over latakia. Try it!
"My dad never smoked a pipe when I was alive"... lol
I looked straight to the comments section after hearing this 😂
LOL,, I'd forgot about this..
I'm sure he meant that his dad quit before he was born but it's hard to be sure with that wording.... :) @@randomytchan
It’s one of the few aros I like. It’s very good mixed with 50% haunted bookshop.
Thank you for the honest review 👍👍👍👍
My pleasure!
Have you considered reviewing a vintage de safety razor or artisan shave soap for Stuff and Things.
Whiskey is oaked. Oak has vanillin. That’s the connection
Good point! I still don't think they taste very similar to each other.
@@stuffandthingsyoutube it’s like artificial vanilla extract versus an actual vanilla bean
Online reviews have a lot of people complaining this is nothing like frog on a log, (the original), I definitely get he same sweet funky flavor frog morton had and smell, or at least something similar. I assume it’s the tang of the orientals mixed with the light english and something to do with the vanilla. I can really taste a strong similarity but I am not sure exactly why.
It's been quite a while since I had Cellar, but yeah, didn't seem that close to me.
Tobacco snobs tend to eschew anything correctly or incorrectly labeled as an aromatic. It is frequently a mistake to stereotype any group whether people or other things. I love this tobacco as well as many stout English blends. I have a very sensitive tongue but I get no tongue bite. I encourage others to try it to determine if they like. Opinions are like southern orifices of our alimentary canals, everyone has one. So we are each entitled to our own and I respect that.
This isn't tobacco snobbery. Bradley is just saying that he doesn't like certain toppings on tobacco. He loves Virginia/Perique blends, which are all the rage now. I don't like them AT ALL! I've been smoking a pipe for 50 years, and though I admit to enjoying many expensive English and Balkan blends, I like Sutliff's Ready Rubbed Match just as much. The first two tobaccos I really loved were Balkan Sobranie White and the original Edgeworth Slices. I never did like aromatics, and my tastes haven't changed in half a century.
Thanks for watching! I personally prefer not to have any obvious, added flavors, but there have been a few "crossover" blends that I've liked. Definitely good advice to try 'em all and see what you like!
Funny when I smoke it I never taste the vanilla at all. To me it’s a decent summer blend and nowhere near FM. It’s just ok in my opinion
Sutliff's Voodoo Queen would be a good candidate for this series. It's a crossover English with cocoa as the top note. Love it!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Age/cellar it for awhile, let the topping blend and commingle with the leaves… smoke it in a year or two. Problem solved for you!
I used care about ghosting my pipes but i stopped caring 😂
YOU ARE CLEAN SHAVEN
It's true.
As far as aromatics go Erinmore flake beats them all. Otherwise only English with Latakia for me.
Reserve judgement on this one for a bit. I bought this blend as an experiment and really disliked the first bowl too, as too sweet and strong in vanilla, and lacking in the component tobacco flavors. I did keep it around, and being a cheap bastard, was determined to finish the tin, rather than waste it. Had the occasional bowl typically with coffee, almost as a dessert. Finally finished it up and of course I ordered another tin a week later. It grows on you, as a nice evening coffee foil, for an occasional treat.
I'll finish it and let everyone know what I think by the end!
Can you hold the tin closer to your camera...I wanna get a whiff😅
I did a trial between FM and EF...( I still have lots of FM) these are VERY similar. I actually did a pipe to pipe comparison that evening.
FM has more Latakia, less vanilla and stoved VA. As you stated: the vanilla in FM is more cohesive. EF has a very distinct vanilla topping. Adding some Sutliff stoved VA to EF would certainly improve it.
EF is also much, much lighter in body, and has a much better room note. For anyone who misses FM or new comers who want to understand what the fuss over FM is about, try Eastfarthing. It’s one of the closest matches to FM on the market today... and in my opinion it’s better.
I also see comparisons to FM Cellar and wonder, ‘what?’... perhaps those comparisons were done by people who haven’t had the Cellar or it was typed by mistake.
I was wondering if you have tried smoking herbs? Bear Blend from Oregon has come to my attention and I am looking for a pipe smoker comparison review. ... My first thought is that I'm not going to like this...
I haven't. I'll look into it though!
What IS your favorite pipe tobacco? Curious to know/try it!
Peterson Elizabethan. Thanks for watching!
@@stuffandthingsyoutube Thanks for the great and in-depth critiques! You’re really helpful in helping us make selections before ordering! I’ll have to order the Elizabethan next go-round.
the sourness of mac baren and sutliff most blends is unbearable and they don't age well
I think I'm going to like the "I'm NOT going to like this" series
Why would you put this in a '60s Dunhill?
whynot?
It’s weak in the flavor department; more on the hot air side for me
Remember: with this blend "fart" is its middle name.
Gave it a try, hot, tasteless.
If you can find some Samuel Gawith Perfection. Try it.
I just found two 250 gram bags of Sam Gawith "perfection" at a old B & M in Memphis. I payed 40.00 for both. That in itself is unbelievably cheap. It is old and I mean old. I don't know how to date it cause there is not a number on it. I had to crack one open I couldn't help myself. I stumbled across a treasure. I don't know if it's perfection but it's damn good. I'm estimating fifteen years old from what the man told me of it's history. I'm not a English fan but this is absolutely incredible. They do not make it anymore from what I've read.
@@scotthead549 it’s great tobacco and still available in the UK. You might find a sticker with some numbers inside the tin or on the outside that will give you the date of production.
@@ukpipeandcigar Its not a tin. It's a box. 250 gram package. 08 306 is the only numbers on the box. Can anybody help?
@@scotthead549 oh sorry I didn’t take note. Sorry to disappoint you but your box is from June 2021.
@@ukpipeandcigar no need to be sorry. I have some tobacco that a lot of people wished they had. A bunch of it too. Lol. Oh I'm not disappointed. That second box is gonna sit for a long time. Lol
