Hey Tiffany! We are planning to buy the KW Cages to do this amazing hutch but don't know if to upgrade the flooring to pvc coated or galvanized gauge 14 like you since it's only $9 in difference. What is the difference between these floorings????
@@fjsp3261 either of these options are great! Just keep in mind the you won’t be able to torch PVC coated wire, if that’s a way you were planning on cleaning them 😊
I know it’s several years later, but this video inspired me to get back into rabbits. Been out for 4.5 years. But within a span of two weeks, I’m right back in the groove. Thank you!
Your husband is one very lucky man! and my ego as a man has now been bruised, seeing how much better of a builder you are than me lol. Love your videos, Tiffany take care.!
I enjoyed watching this build, and I slowly fell in love with it all. Then, you showed it lit up at night, so now it’s a must have because that was just beautiful. I watch so many channels because I’m new to all of this and am interested in growing our own food for many reasons, with high priority being the happiness and well being of my critters. I have watched so many that stuff animals into such a small space and I cringe. While I appreciate the endless amounts knowledge they bring to the table, I am loving that you also thought about the happiness of your rabbits. This is by far my favorite set up I’ve seen and I’ve been binge watching rabbit hutches today. Thanks for sharing. Now I have to locate the upgrade video because we do get pretty cold winters here.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the build Tammy!! I care very much about my rabbits' happiness. We are currently building a brand new setup for them at our new property, but this hutch has a special place in my heart :)
The most important thing that I have noticed is how you enjoyed this build. This is what homesteading and living is about. Make the things that make your life and life of your animals better! You did a very good job! Do add a gutter for rain collection as it will provide you with most amazing water for your rabbits.
Thanks for not only this video but the plans and links too. I ordered the same cages as you, and KW was even willing to make them out of 1/2 x 1 wire on the walls and ceiling too. This is important as we have a lot of rat snakes here. This is a great design.
A suggestion to extend the life of your hard work. Place each of the legs on a paver stone or even just a red brick. The pine you used will absorb moisture being in contact with the ground (even though it's painted). Pine will begin to rot within a couple of years, if it's constantly moist. You may also want to treat the bottom 12" of each leg with a water sealant, each year.
Just a thought. Get some tin , bend it accordingly and then slope from middle to outside to roll droppings to one end to drop and collect them in a bin. Both levels can be collected in one bin if set right.
Thanks for such a detailed video on a great build - I'm going to use it as a basis for my new quail coop build! Also, it's great to see one that isn't built with a workshop full of power tools!

Yay! I'm glad your babies finally came! :) So far so good with leaving ours outside. It has been in the single digits a lot this month, but the babies in the nest are still toasty! ❤️ It always amazes me that they do so well in the cold.
Solar is something I am doing a bit of research on. The only problem is, I’m not sure it would be able to fully power 4 box fans for next summer. But we’ll see! 😊
Just a tip, you should put more padding like a mat or something maybe a blanket on the wire floor. This will help the rabbits feet. For the poo and stuff to fall down still you can put mats on half of the cages.
When I was younger I actually had a rabbit ingest and choke on fabric, so I don’t like putting anything like that down in their cages. they do have plastic resting mats but overall I find that they prefer to lay on the wire. It is a very thick gauge and comfortable for them 😊
I love your new hutch one thing I saw that was not safe is that the wire on the bottom of the hutch your bunnys will walk on that wire and really hurt thire feet and I thought I seen a water bowl they are so much more better then water bottles well done beautiful hutch
I love all your DIY builds. I really want to know how your rabbits do in thunderstorms. I live in Florida and would really love to build this in my backyard but am worried when we get sudden thunderstorms with rain literally going sideways. No problem with cold just don't want wet rabbits. Thanks so much!!
Just FYI if you try to run four box fans on that extension cord it will have voltage drop and will catch on fire. So, I hope you do run wire for that load.
@@TealStoneHomestead Cool...solar is still pretty expensive and don't really last long enough for the investment. An electrical supply store can tell you what gauge romex to run. Just tell them how many amps you'll be pulling and how far you need to go.
Did you say Jameson?? (Not sure of your spelling). My FAVORITE Saint Bernard was named "Jameson" or "Jaymo" for short!! He was THE most gorgeous AKC Saint! Perfect breed standards, and a genuine sweetheart!! I loved him sooooooo much!!
I think you need a mediator or something...I cannot for the life of me understand why people did a thumbs down...I loved the video...I absolutely love the build and the creativeness of your design...Good job lady...☆
It might be a good idea to move the top row of cages up ever-so-slightly so there is a small gap in the front of the "poop slide". Speaking from experience, sometimes their poop likes to hang it in those slides and you need enough room to get a hose down the front to push the poop out. It is not a fun job cleaning out those slides from the back end.
Nice job on building it yourselfe! However....I don t understand how in Amerika are so many people having bunnies with wire on the bottom and just not animal friendly at all.....Never seen anything like that here in Switzerland.....I'm sure they would all like to have a bit more room to hop around.....
Thanks for your comment! My rabbits are for self-sustainability and are mainly used for meat for my family, but many of the times are treated like pets! They are also show rabbits. It is a common misconception that wire flooring is bad for rabbits. Wire flooring (especially the thick gauge flooring I have) keeps rabbits out of urine and waste at all times, and also aids in adequate ventilation, which prevents disease. Sore hocks or sore feet is typically a genetic problem or is caused by soiled living conditions. Rabbits have plush fur on the bottom of their feet and are quite comfortable on the wire. I can assure you that my rabbits do not have sore feet 😊 The cages are not giant like the ones that pet rabbits and house rabbits have because that would not be practical in our case, but they do get out frequently to hop around my fully-fenced backyard 😊 We love our animals, and do everything to make sure they stay healthy, happy, and comfortable! ❤️
I just love this video and I have watched it several times! I am just starting to raise rabbits for meat. i would be interested in a video about how to find rabbits to start breeding (best way, cheapest way, free rabbits? best breed? not interested in showing, just for my freezer. **Also, I love your pinned comments at the top….. anyone with a brain can see how much you care for your animals.💕
Nice and Amazing Videos, I am trying to start a rabbit farm and your Videos make a lot of sense to me and I have learned a lot from you. Thanks for sharing those videos and keep them coming. My name is AKPERAN HAA-ORPIN and am from Nigeria.
Nice job! It looks similar to mine but I ony have three does and one buck, so I built a one story. I like the LED lights a lot. I think I might try that too. so often it's been getting dark early this winter so some lights would be great if I happen to feed them their hay at night.
The LED’s are amazing! Definitely my favorite part 😊 I have a 4-hole hutch I built after this one as well, that I call the Buck Hutch. It is our quarantine/bachelor pad area 🐇 go check it out if you’d like!

It is a very thick gauge and comfortable for them 😊
Ok, I completely understand I would never want that to happen. It’s good you have some type of padding!
Wow it's beautiful weary beautiful i like this cage
Tiffany, your hutch looks so amazing even at night
Thank you so much!
I have looked at your plans really nice set up, the overall size is left out.
I love your new hutch one thing I saw that was not safe is that the wire on the bottom of the hutch your bunnys will walk on that wire and really hurt thire feet and I thought I seen a water bowl they are so much more better then water bottles well done beautiful hutch
Wire is completely safe for rabbits with good genetics! Also studies has proved that bottles are 1,5% better than bowls
Oh wow. That hutch is amazing.
Great video and great work!!! 👊😍💪 I love it!! Ty
some people have hearing music loud voice low makes it hard when it vlaiers. love your HUTCH
I love all your DIY builds. I really want to know how your rabbits do in thunderstorms. I live in Florida and would really love to build this in my backyard but am worried when we get sudden thunderstorms with rain literally going sideways. No problem with cold just don't want wet rabbits. Thanks so much!!
what a wonderful wife who is very kind to help her husband make a rabbit cage
These are my rabbits, not my husband’s 🙃
thank you for the plans and list of cuts
You’re welcome! 😊
Great and amazing DIY rabbit cage....😆😆ilove it... I have also rabbit...16 heads in philippines
Should move the whole thing up about another foot - you're gonna want at least a lawnmower/wheelbarrow width behind the cages. Love the lighting!
আমার দেখা সবচেয়ে সুন্দর খরগোশের ঘর। বাংলাদেশ থেকে দেখছি।
Looks really good. Great job
Thank you! 😊
I dont even know you but I'm proud of you too..your my she row...make me want to build a bunny hutch😄 your roof looks amazing
Thank you so much! 🥰 I’m constantly learning! I just like to share my creations for my animals with you guys 😊
The best video I have ever seen in a very very long time ❤️❤️
Thank you! 😊
This is beautiful!
Just FYI if you try to run four box fans on that extension cord it will have voltage drop and will catch on fire. So, I hope you do run wire for that load.
Right, we will be running electricity 😊 or solar if I can figure out how that works!
@@TealStoneHomestead Cool...solar is still pretty expensive and don't really last long enough for the investment. An electrical supply store can tell you what gauge romex to run. Just tell them how many amps you'll be pulling and how far you need to go.
Very Cool Set up!
Thank you so much! ❤️
It's because rabbits need more space and wire floors is painful for them, this is a cruel way to keep them!
@@missdanidoo that is just not true. Please read my pinned comment 😊
SoniKwolf1498 thanks, I’ll keep that in mind! So far so good, water pushes everything straight back! 😊
I love your build.
Excelent. I liked you project.so perfect
Beautiful!!😍 watching from Philippines.. i like that also..😍
Nice job on building it yourselfe!
I can assure you that my rabbits do not have sore feet 😊
The cages are not giant like the ones that pet rabbits and house rabbits have because that would not be practical in our case, but they do get out frequently to hop around my fully-fenced backyard 😊 We love our animals, and do everything to make sure they stay healthy, happy, and comfortable! ❤️
Love the bunny hutch. Such a good job! 😀. New sub👍🏻
Thank you so much! 😊
Good video . I have N.Z reds and this gives me some ideas of my own
This is great! Thanks for the video! I am building a rabbit hutch here in Florida and watching your video! You and your husband are adorable!
Thank you so much!! ☺️ I’m glad you found it helpful!
Nice work I love it 💖
I just love this video and I have watched it several times!
Wow, nice job.
Nice and Amazing Videos, I am trying to start a rabbit farm and your Videos make a lot of sense to me and I have learned a lot from you. Thanks for sharing those videos and keep them coming.
My name is AKPERAN HAA-ORPIN and am from Nigeria.
Lovely setup. I'm constructing a frame similar but using C purlins
Thank you! Where are you putting those? As the supports?
