Brothers and Sisters , let us not forget the Bass player of this band... the Mighty Pete Wells (R.I.P.)...who went on to play the meanest slide guitar for Rose Tattoo ,another of australia's finest rock and roll exports..Rock On!!!
BUFFALO never recovered once the great John Baxter was no longer on guitar. They were a criminally overlooked band. In my opinion, they were one of the great heavy rock bands in history.Hell, they might have been my #1 if the classic lineup remained together.
John Baxter (Buffalo guitarist) says >> Thanks for all the cool comments and thanks to Oz blues 21.I suggest If you haven't heard "skirt lifter " from our 3rd album (and my last with the band) "only want you for you for..?" go and have a listen, turn it up and rock on. Has to be one of the most powerful songs ever. For the record we were a Sydney Australia band I live in Tasmania now and am recording an album with my mate Shane. Yes it's rock. I haven't mellowed much. Keep rock a live!!!
how come every time I get on youtube to listen to some good tunes , there is a pile of people abusing each other in the comments. I don't know about you but music soothes me , I am pretty tightly wound and have a fucked up temper but when I listen to or play music I just smile , sometimes laugh , sometimes cry , but with happiness . Music is the best thing in this fucked up world next to family . If you want to abuse each other why do it here ? God I'm so sick of it.
A group of fellows, young and old went to see Black Sabbath play last night. It was our please to play Volcanic Rock on the drive there and set our mood for the evening. Great stuff.
Dave Tice has been a great contributor to Australian music for many years (and UK music with hits in the English band the Count Bishops). I consider Dave Tice a better nomination for the ARIA Hall of Fame than many previous nominations. A bloody great Aussie performer.
Totally agree...Dave Tice is very underrated and in my opinion one of the best Aussie vocalists...used to see him and Mark Evans at the Sando in Newtown every Sunday afternoon a few years back. Awesome voice.
Volcanic Rock and Only Want You for Your Body are essential to the development of Doom and Stoner metal as we know it today. Thank you for such amazing riffage!
Seen Buffalo at one of their last gigs. They fought amongst themselves, the crowd fought, they finished their set. Everyone left happy. About 30years later was at my local. Two ol geezers were jammin n got my attention. They were good. At the break I ask em: who are you guys? One said: the Two Dave's, he's Dave Evans, first AC/DC vocalist & I'm Dave Tice, used to be in a band Buffalo years back. Fu¢kin wow, I nearly fell over...
@@fernandopenalva2680 I came across Dave Tice on Facebook a while back and told him. He'd not heard of Dave Wyndorf and Monster Magnet, so I sent him a link. He was very modest, said he thought the other Dave was better!
Classic Rock magazine issue #219 has a great story on this band as well as mentioning some other Aussie bands. Phil Lynott is on the cover and features prominently inside. Excellent article!
I totally love this band, I wish they were around now to blow somma the other rubbish away, and Pete Wells (R.I.P.) on bass, seen him with Rose Tattoo on his slide guitar, great vocal too from Dave Tice, love em
Seen John Baxter play in another band called BOY RACER with Noel Taylor on drums ex AC DC still going strong today Neil Smith on bass ex AC DC & ROSE TATTOO RIP NEIL One of the great bass players i have seen Rumble Down my favourite because John Baxter is my ex brother in law Thanks Ron
@MLGxSLasH mate I have had this Album for close to 30 years and I'm so glad to have shared it on youTube, it has blown me away with the response and hits it has had from just a simple little project, but hey this band deserves it as they were really that good
Pity you didn't show the amazing art from the double-page insert. It was a hellscape so rivetting that it was burned into the brain of my 10-year old self. I spent hours looking at it and pondering it.
This album is now on iTunes!! Go buy it!! I have been looking for this on vinyl for years, but I will settle for the electronic songs for now. After all, it's the music that matters
Jellybeantiger said it the best " This is when music was music",rather than the noise we hear today.Though there is good material and bad material for every age of music, and genere.crazeehorse, this explains that there were different styles in the 70's that are seen in todays music, sorry that which is differemnt is misunderstoiod in this way.If you dont like it, dont listen to it.But, for the rest of us, this is sheer bliss.Anyone have the live 72' recording of Shylock from the Sydney concert?
buffalo and the saints - best things to come out of Australia. Funny how things progress tho - the guy out of buffalo ended up in angry anderson's band - who in turn did the wedding song for kylie and jason ha ha ha
Gezzz I have the remastered CD of this album bought through rare records. They use to play at Taren Point Y.M.C.A back in the 70's. about the fan who wrote about Finch they played at Cronula High whilst Owen Orford (vocals) was a student teacher and Bob Spencer was lead guitarist and Bob was still a student Those were the days....
Yup... me too, absofuckinglutely the best concert... shame I don't remember much about Buffalo, I've still got Tony Iommi in my head, internal injuries from Bill Wards drumming and Geezers bass... and Ozzy, fuck me, he just didn't stop, when he wasn't singing he just bounced all over that stage like a crazy man :)~ awesome... and he wasn't too bad a few months ago here at Homebush (for an old bloke :)~~~
I downloaded this album years agor but there was nothign on youtube! I really love this a;bum, thank u for sharing this, i really wish i had thin LP!!!
I do never want to bad mouth my favorite band sabbath but This is a little like system of the universe which came out in 75. this came out two years before I think tony my have been influnced by these guys. For they did tour in early 70s. I could be wrong but you have to think that bands that our on the road together influnce one another.
AWESOME I only just found this band today, sadly its a task to find their stuff even on cd !!!! but i will continue the search !!!! What has happened to the music like this, now its all DJ's and shit like Dub-step . Thanks for keeping it alive uploader :)
Wow!! Great tune. Gonna save n share that one. Coulda done with a little less than 1; 50 of interlude/guitar wankin' from 2:00 - 3:50 but rocked all the same.
Thanks for adding this Jim, reading a book ("Blood Sweat And Beers'') on the birth of the Australian rock scene, Buffalo are quite prominent. Particularly the Volcanic Rock album cover. Completely unlearned, I googled and here I am. The cover art is brilliant, the music accompanying I am actually quite surprised at. Thanks again.
Thanks Tony, I've always loved Album Covers and this one is an Australian classic that also comes with some great music, I miss album covers these days and record shops, I would spend hours in them flicking through covers, when I was mucking around with movie maker featuring this great Buffalo album I thought I'd youtube it, I was surprised with the amount of hits it got, then again it doesn't surprise me, classic Australian 70s Rock deserves to be heard!!

one of the great things about being born in 54 was to see these bands in action ..the 70s were such a good time
I was year behind you brother
BUFFALO never recovered once the great John Baxter was no longer on guitar. They were a criminally overlooked band. In my opinion, they were one of the great heavy rock bands in history.Hell, they might have been my #1 if the classic lineup remained together.
I agree that was the biggest mistake we ever made when john baxter left the band
This band was fantastic! Anyone who loves 70's heavy rock should get their first 3 albums.
Can't believe I never heard of this band before!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dave tice the best
The main riff makes it sound like a more serious version of Sabbath's Symptom of the universe

I learned about Buffalo in a university course on Western Popular Music in QLD in 2018. So yes, oz rock is being kept alive
I really dig Dune Messiah off third album. Very heavy.
Awesome tune from a band that deserves more credit.

Aussie's answer to Sabbath, one of my fave bands from this era
Well.... This song's riff sounds similar to Sympton of the Universe...
yes this is great earley 70s Australian rock and good to see young bands influenced by it.
I did lighting for this band in the 70's and they were amazing live.
Remember it well Phil, thanks mate. D. T.

I don't remember making this comment, but I totally agree with myself.

Wow! The 70's had so many great artists doing metal.
Heavy Metal was the soundtrack of the 70s, and the 80s for that matter but no hipster would know or care about that today.
A lot of guys in Seattle listen to this record...
The best Aussie rock band on the planet at the time.
Primal, aggressive,raw,and soo bloody good!
Excelente sonido...una pieza sólo para conocedores
Love this track, and the whole album. A masterpiece of early 70s heavy metal.
Curly bop's in the 70's,,,,,,,yep, just about remember them! Great Oz band.
