I love that you went to Quedlinburg. Most travel guides leave it out as it is a bit off the beaten track. It still is packed with history and older than most of the popular destination. Well done for your detailed research and thank you for spreading the word about this gem.

Only few international vloggers come to Quedlinburg and none of them captured that town's spirit like you... historic, pitoresque and cosy. Well done, good job!
Fun fact: Since Daniel Brühl is one of Ashley's favorite actors you should come to visit the german town of Brühl (south border of Cologne) which is home of two baroque castles and a beautiful garden / forest, UNESCO world heritage site since 1984. ;-)
Fun fact II: The name Brühl derivates from the old german name for swamp / marsh.

many towns in germany looked like quedlinburg. even my hometown nordhausen, is a very old medieval town, formed in 927. but with ww2 and the bombings so much of historical architecture was lost. its a shame! my hometown was destroyed to 95%. quedlinburg is just a lucky one of all the towns, cause it wasnt important enough to destroy.

When you walked around Brühl Park, the park at Gartenträume where you walked, and when you enjoyed coffee and cheesecake at Café Vincent. Brühl Park looks so spectacular, filled with greenery, somewhat similar to the Nature Center in Springfield, Missouri, an abundantly picturesque landmark! Your cheesecake looked quite delicious as well.

Hi Audrey and Samuel. My girlfriend and I love watching your videos. They’re always informative, show variety of places and meals. We visited Quedlinburg a few years ago. For a dinner we ate: trout, yellow potatoes and huge white asparagus, and for a dessert: cottage cheese, poppy seed and cherry cake. We were happy to see all those beautiful narrow streets and timber houses once again. Thank you.
If you like this kind of small atmospheric towns with authentic medieval architecture, you might also like Rothenburg ob der Tauber or Monschau (Germany). If you would like to see even more picturesque places, I recommend going to Alsace (France) and visit: Riquewihr, Ribeauville, Colmar, Eguisheim, Kayserberg. There, besides the timber architecture, you will find fine types of cheese: Munster, Neufchatel, etc. and white semi-dry wines: Muscadet, Gewurztraminer, etc. 👍😎

One are the relics of a monastry on the hill "Münzenberg". The remainigs survived in and under "newer" houses and can be visited. That was awesome! When you´re on the romanic road, don´t miss out Merseburg, Naumburg and Memleben - all not too far from Leipzig (where we own a nice little holiday-flat).

OMG- Quedlinburg!!! You guys are at a town my wife and I stayed in while we were in Germany 2018. Just 50 Km from Quedlinburg is Mansfeld in Mansfelderland where my family came from way back about 1500. Awesome!!

I noticed that you are now calling them "half-timbered" houses, so ignore the comment I made last week. We were in Quedlinburg in May of 2019, in the middle of their 1000th anniversary. I felt like we were the only English-speaking visitors, but we had a great time. We even ate at the same restaurant as you did (outdoor patio in May). I am glad that you were able to show such a beautiful town, and appreciate the difficulty in getting there by train (we drove a rental car from Hamburg to Frankfurt). Looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip to Germany.

Nice tour, love the architecture. Dang, going to start getting massively colder there, any plans to head south?
I spent time in the UK, it is cold there, but it is a milder damp sort of cold so nicer than the cold experienced in northern Americas. I always thought of the cold in the UK as a wet ice cube and the cold in northern Americas as a hurtful dry ice.

@@samuelandaudrey We are trying to avoid the cold so we only have to carry summer (ish) clothing. We'll hang out in Central America before going to Europe in the late spring timeframe. Aim is to tour the most popular destinations in Europe before school lets out in the West. But, I often tell people, pay no attention to what I say we're going to do. My mind is in the clouds. The plan to go somewhere warm... never sure where until we are on our way. Currently in Florida so comfortable thinking about where to go.
