I love watching you guys react to the 90s. I'm Indian American. Born and raised here and in the 90s, very few Americans knew about Bollywood. I stopped watching movies in the late 90s and only recently got back into them, mainly because of youtube, the fact that many of my cherished actors (The Khans and Madhuri) are still acting, and because I love the 90s in American and India because it was what I grew up with and nostalgia. I love seeing your perspective. Out of all of the Bollywood reaction channels out there, you are my favorite. It's interesting because with newer stuff (anything past 1997/1998) my knowledge is pretty limited. I know who the new actors and actresses are, I've seen some of the new movies, but mainly I know the big Bollywood hits in terms of music and even then, I lack so much knowledge! I'm thinking of doing a reaction channel with that perspective. Anyway, I wanted to start off with the compliment that you guys are great and the encouragement to continue to react to the 90s! They are cheesy and fun. The clothes are interesting. LOL. I was never big on Govinda even though I see on here that he is very beloved in India but I remember this song and Sona Kitna Sona Hai and I really loved them. As far as Karisma Kapoor goes.. Some of the songs I really like of hers include: I love the songs of Raja Hindustani. It's a little cheesy in terms of in the movie, her voice is annoyingly high pitched but the songs are wonderful and her costar is Aamir Khan. I also love the songs of Jeet, where she is with Salman Khan. I doubt those are her most popular songs, but they are soundtracks I really enjoy, and of course, visuals, because the Khans are both stunning! Raja Hindustani songs are very romantic as are Jeet songs but I like Jeet because it sounds like an older era of Bollywood.. maybe the 60s in the way it sounds and the way its filmed. I also love the original Judwaa songs with her and Salman Khan. If we're talking cheese, nothing is cheesier than the Judwaa soundtrack but despite the cheese, my brother and I saw that movie in the theatre three times in India in the 90s. You should definitely react to the songs from that movie! I haven't seen the new one but I like Varun (he's hot and can dance, etc) I've only seen Kalank so I may check it out. I did at first find it blasphemous that they were re doing it. There are some remake songs I like (Dheere Dheere and Humma) but others I'm highly suspicious of like Judwaa and Ek Do Teen because... I think it's a little blasphemous to re do anything Madhuri but... I also think I need to chill out a little because Priyanka Chopra did a good tribute to her at an awards show awhile ago.
For example, the chorus "tujhko mirchi lagi to mai kya karu" (the part korbin kept singing along to) translates to "if you ate chilly and felt spicy, what can I do?" But reading between the lines is like "if you got jealous, how can I help it?" So...the entire song is like expressions where you got the literal meaning and the slang meaning...challenge for a subber
Yes I totally agree with you guys... Because Govinda is the best dancers in Indian cinema after Prabhu Deva, Govinda is the best not just because of his dance but he also have this unique charisma which you won't find in any other actor / dancer. Plus about the string session you can hear that in most of the 80's and 90's songs.. they were called as counter playing to fill in the gaps before entering to the next verse. It will be mostly one bar or two bar measure and the whole string session will play notes on the scale from low to high creating a rumble effect like you said, also you can hear in between the lyrics they play it. Sometimes it's like a question and answering between two instruments. Yes, you can hear that kind of string patterns in most of the films not just in Hindi but also in other languages... Now, musicians don't use it which is really sad... Because that's the fun part... Using all these instruments.. plus you guys have to understand it's all love recording back in those days, not like the softwares and you can play from anywhere... No... It's all love and in one take they should play it... So it's a hard work and Yes that's why all these music and films in the olden days are still fresh and classic...😊
