Maybe play around with different block designs (Ik tig2 doesn't give you that many options but at least try to play around with different sizes of blocks or something). Also, I don't know what FlukeDude was on when he made the awful speed portals. But all I have to say is, as a creator, don't abuse the speed portals so much. I suggest you use them in moderation.
