@@motokuchoma Well, he formally debates a lot with other powerscaling anitubers like SethTheProgrammer, so it wouldn't shock me if he prepared a bit for this video. Brushing up on your card knowledge is probably the best thing you can do to prepare if you want to try and win a show like this. Look up card terminology and be familiar with it.
You should find IRL judges and do the same thing, but with complex and obscure questions. Seems like this could be a real confidence boost to those who know their stuff, or a real eye opener for those who don't.
12:30 - I actually ran into a "returned to GY" interaction when I Synchro Summoned Shiranui Shogunsaga with Spectralsword and Samuraisaga on the field, then banished Spectralsword for cost to play around Divine Wrath. They negated and destroyed Shogunsaga, which then returned that same banished Spectralsword back to the GY. Even though it was sent to the GY that turn, it got banished and then returned to the GY, so it was not the same copy sent to the GY, and so I could Synchro Summon with it that turn immediately into Lv10 Sunsaga. The Babel ruling here works the same way :)
He is not a YuGiOh player, that can be noticted wery easily by very early on. He knows what the cards do wich means he probably read them wich is something real YuGiOh players are absolutly unable to do
I hope this is the series that blows you up Coder. This was the colab I didn’t know I needed until I saw it. I hope I can be as good as Swagkage at rulings when I grow up
Clearly you tried to gamma the first eff, it got ashed, then they activated prohibition calling gamma. You infib to stop tokens for Mekk-Knight columns. Very realistic scenario /s
I think for the Avarice-like effect missed, because it says "them" or "those cards" and not "those targets" or "targeted cards" it is less restrictive of an effect.
So glad we have a judge yugituber, thank you Coder🙌🏽💯 Question: If a hard once per turn monster effect (like ash blossom) is negated with say Solemn Strike, can I activate another Ash Blossom the same turn?
This is a very late reply, but in the context of ash blossom, the card states you can only USE this effect, which means that even if the activation is negated, you cannot attempt to use it again. If it says you can only ACTIVATE this (or even the named card) once per turn, you can attempt to use another one. Since it didn't get activated, you have not activated the effect. However, if a card negates the EFFECT of the card, then you cannot activate a card that says once per turn again
It’ll be awesome if you can get Jesse Kotton in, with Chaos Thunder Dragons. I really enjoy this series but can’t help but note that rankings shouldn’t really be mentioned because of the difference in difficulty. I think Sam had much harder questions than Swag did.
I think that the point on this series is to ask yugitubers or maybe people who doesn't play at maximul level of competition, I mean, what can you ask to a person like Jesse Kotton or Koty angeloff? It would be way more difficult to do imo
Lezz goo got 8/8 cauae either the questions were easier or because I played the deck this time lol. This was fun testing ruling knowledge with some youtubers.
The only reason I knew about "return to the GY" is not "send to the GY" is because of Skull Servants and how much that ruling being any other way would make Wightprince broken.
I love the content, Coder! It's great! Just wish you'd show the cards involved a bit longer for those of us who don't know the cards (yet). Having to pause the video and use the keys to go frame by frame for a chance to read some of these cards is a bit tedious.
For the most part, Swag questions are more stuff that u see more often if u play/see several matches of a certain deck. Sam quesitons was more like, "tf this can actually happen?"
imagine being at your lgs just playing games and one of these rulings come up and to prove it to your opponent you whip your phone out and start jumping around this video to show your opponent that youre right
The first one is definitely a 50/50 tossup. Nobody thinks certain negated effects linger and others don't unless they've run into similar situations. Name, Type, Subtype, and Attribute are "permanent" temporary changes...good to know for sure. Honestly, it being a trivia question is the only hint that it lingers, it would be treated as an obvious no in 99.9% of duels.
As a Twitch streamer I’m sure you know about Mizkif and or Ludwig , those guys do game shows and I think you will be perfect to host a YuGiOh rulings/trivia game show :)
I'm also familiar with that "sent to the GY" ruling since I play Zombies too (Zombie World not Shiranui). Whenever you try to return Glow-up Bloom from the banish to the GY with the effect of PSY-Framelord Omega (or similar), you don't get to activate the effect of Bloom since that move does not count as been "sent" to the GY
If I remember correctly, that video was a joke or maybe it was a discussion about which version of Sakura could hypothetically beat a version of Madara that's weak. (ex, Kid Madara or something) Swag is known to be a Madara lover/hype beast. So much so, that even his comment section memes him about it. So it's all good.

Cards are returned to the GY rather than sent (at least until we get a new archetype that sends cards that are banished to the GY rather than returning them, the same way that dinosaurs destroy cards in hand or deck)
I do think some questions were easier than others, but that is true for other contestants as well. The first question imo is the easiest to get wrong, the Nibiru one you wouldn't think possible, but reading is important (very nice trick). Returning to the GY or Field (PsyFrame Omega, Interdimensional Matter Transporter, etc) is not considered sent or Summoned, kinda like Activating a card vs activating an already face-up effect or GY effect. The damage Step one may throw some people off because Babel is not the card modifying ATK effect, but it itself does not activate, it just is a continuous effect like Lair of Darkness doesn't activate to tribute an opponent's monster. The Solemn one is quite straightforward, it is one that nobody would get wrong unless they are new or panick and assume it is a trick question for being on the list somehow, (OCG removing attempted summons doesn't really matter, as Solemns always negated summons or activations that you can only "activate" or "summon" once, vs "use".)
I did not know swag got down with yugi this is dope asf. The last ruling that you asked was easy for me there was a similar ruling for burial from a different dimension and another monster I just can’t remember it.
I've got 7/8 score. I was not quite 100% sure about the rulling with the solemn strike dingirsu interaction, because i remember it like the sky striker ace link monsters interaction. And i thought it was not able too be special summoned after getting solemn striked, and i also remembered the rule change for the OCG about it so was really not quite sure about it. But now i know it for sure. :)
I love pausing to see if I can come up with the right answer myself, and guess you'll have to take my word for it that I came to the same conclusions as Swagkage, therefore, getting his same score.
These felt easy compared to the last one. Could definitely add extra layers to make things more complex. Like with the last one, specify how it was banished. Say the opponent used cosmic cyclone to banish it from the field, and you use the paleo that same turn, can you then use the effect all in that same turn?
I took my judge test in the beginning of the pendulum mechanic, so I got your dingirsu question wrong. I stopped playing the game after whatever list banned colossus so it is nice to know the change
I think it's because Striker Orcust was my favorite deck and I played it into the ground, but these questions were way easier than what you gave Sam. Guy would've needed a PHD to get those questions right lol
Damn I was so sure I had that last one right, I thought it was simply "moved" from one location to another since send to the grave is usually from field, my head hurts lol great vid.
After the video I was lil confused too, but them I remembered something that happened in zombies, its the same thing, every time I put Bloom back into the gy he didnt trigger, because he was not being sent to the gy.
