Can’t wait to find this on clearance in 3 months 💀
come on you can't deny the fresh fits of these droids
@@ocularzombie6679 chopper does look good with the Dave Filoni hat. Unfortunately I can’t see very many kids getting this if it’s $100
A kids toy MADE for kids??!??! Shocking 😂 cope not everything is made for you
50 percent off it's still not worth the shelf space
@@davidodonoghue3628 oh I know it’s for kids little bro. But tell me how many kids are gonna be able to afford a $100 Lego set like this? If they’re gonna ask their parents for something big, then it’s probably gonna be something else
Well, at least Lego put the least desirable anniversary figure in the least desirable anniversary set. Really the only good thing I can say about this...unique model.
Completely agree, I think R2 is just attracted to anniversary minifigs
Honestly if you’re a family buying this set to build, maybe the strat is to sell Leia to recoup costs
I mean if the last anniversary minifig is the pink droid I feel like that's the least desirable personally
@@devynsmith If you have a few minutes, see about looking up the story behind R2-KT, it's well worth the read and a pretty cool real world event that made it into Star Wars. Might change your mind. Though to be fair it is an astromech and those aren't everyone's bread and butter.
@@The_Brickster I think I had read that in the past and forgot about it, so I guess that makes it a bit more appealing...but in the context of 25 years of Lego Star Wars I still don't think that story/background makes it that much more of an appealing minifig...🤷
This isn't a terrible idea, but pricing it at $100 is INSANE (especially when there’s already a great buildable R2 at that price). Imo this should've been one R2 unit with extra pieces to swap the highlights to various colors (blue, red, green, pink) and a handful of accessories for $25-$30.
You are missing the point. This is a family build. Party build. I think it's cool that Lego is making sets for multi-generations. Sure. It isn't for us harcore Lego Star Wars fans. But do they all have to be? I don't like that a 25th anniversary minifig is locked behind it... But oh well.
@@KyleExplosion But it's still way overpriced even for a family build
@RylanBrown-os1ev not really. 100 bucks for q family of 4 to build a set. Seems reasonable.
@@KyleExplosion Do you know many families of four that like building LEGO Star Wars sets together?
@retrobrickreviews687 They live in Tiago Catarino’s imagination, haha. My parents hate my hobby and consider it a waste of money. I imagine many of them are like that, preferring to rot in front of the TV instead.
I think I know who’s going to buy this. The Bricklink sellers are going to buy it on sale, part it out, then sell Leia separately.
They seriously can’t resist Luke’s landspeeder and R2-D2
well I believe R2d2 is the most widespread character in SW. It's kinda normal to see it a lot. The landspeeder is just an excuse to make luke and obi wan accessible in a smaller set that isn't a battle pack or a piece of wall.
You can adopt me David, and then we can build this set together happily as a family
I think it’s pretty cool not every set has to be an army builder or a big grey ship I like them adding something different
fr everyone hating doesn't want people to have fun lol 😅
I like the face on the minifig after he called her a “basic figure.” lol
Long time fan of your channel here, David. As a Moc-builder who mostly tears apart Lego sets I buy so that I can create new stuff, I actually really like the concepts of all these sets they’ve just announced here. The Dark Falcon? Amazing idea, would have died to have that as a kid. The Tie/X-Wing combo? Also great, and it reminds me of how the old tie fighters back in the day had the “feature” that you could take a winglet off because they were just held in place by technic pins. And this droid set? Again, I would have had a lot of fun as a kid making horrific nightmare fuel creations from these droids and the spare parts.
The issue here remains, as always, that the sets are overpriced. Lego Star Wars is the one line where we know we are overpaying on average by $10-20 per set, but even considering that, I still feel subjectively that the Dark Falcon should be $130-150, and the is droid set should be like $50 and maybe scaled down, maybe have one less droid.
Could care less if the figs are canon or not, could care less if the exclusive minifigures will eventually sell well on the after market. What I care about is the concept of the play set and the potential for new stuff afterwards VS the actual dollars I have to pay. Because if I need to scratch that itch, I can always use my own spare parts or go to a used Lego store (as long as it’s not bricks and minifigs), and get whatever I need there.
Dang. Bro wrote a whole essay. Respect.
we should have gotten a minifigure of colonel Gascon to sit on top the droids.
Galaxy’s edge has build your own droid station too where they’re customizable and RC controlled so that’s even more comparable
And how is a new leia 25th anniversary
They explained that the 25th anniversary figures were figures the felt were worth making but didn’t make sense to have sets centered around them
I understand yall want your anniversary minifigs, and this is the biggest obstacle to get over them. But, I love the concept of this set. It’s clearly targeted at younger audiences and that’s perfectly fine. The hats are a fun touch and it encourages customization which is what Lego should truly be about. It’s not for the adult collectors, which is why there’s 800 dollar UCS sets.
$800 dollar sets for adults, and $100 sets for kids...
Damn y'all fucking rich, $100 is a ton of money.
Honestly just nice to see more family based sets. I mean it's silly but it just doesn't bother me now and on sale this would probably be a no brainer for me to pick up
all the 18+ sets didnt include a 25th anniversary fig so it would be weird if they included one for C3-PO
hate this set - but love that they tried something - no complaints.
You forgot the polybag rd2d2 and the minifig 😉.
If this was just a buildable Chopper for $100 I would buy it in a heartbeat!
Not interested in the accessories or 3 other droids.
When you do a full 360 you’re right back where you started.😮
Got the 2013 sail barge in the background of the video now. Nice.
Since this is obviously marketed towards families/group building it feels weird to me that there is a 25th anniversary minfig. If a group is just building this to have fun why would they care about one extra minifgure that doesnt go with that.
It’s called corporate greed
It’s so they get more sales. Bricklink sellers & collectors don’t care about the set, but they want the figure, so they’ll buy it. It’s just a tool to help them get more sales, and a bonus to “Justify the Price”, although I still think it should be like £70 at most.
like the other guys have said, abusing lego collectors wallets and abusing peoples obsession with lego.
We plan to get this for our channel for sure!!
BD-1 came in the buildable BD-1 Figure. Really unfortunate for the people that didn't get that set, i got it 1 day before it retired so i was just in time 😅
What is with Lego prices specifically this year. It’s insane that they think people are gonna but these sets not on clearance
The amount of shelf warmers Lego put out this year is honestly impressive.
Leia has unique face print, i'm speaking as a HP expert
I remember going to Disney World when I was younger, and they had an area where you could build your own Astromech and fit it with accessories. I believe they were quite a bit smaller than these. If I recall, it was like $30 for a Droid, so this is technically a better deal, lol.
I wish they found another way to make the shoulders. Otherwise they look pretty good, but those big dishes throw me off badly
I’m just buying the Leia on Bricklink. I want all the 25th Anniversary stuff, but not this
Somebody put the sailbarge in clear veiw in the background! Cant wait to see the reveiws🤩
Its the old 75020, he is teasing hard
As a hard core collector still want this for the midi r2 to be next to the other r2’s and a kiddie chopper
I find it weird how in the lego games the r2d2 usually has a third leg but not the actual minifigure in real life
Top 10!!!!
I see that sail barge back there 👀
Where?
Is it behind Grievus on the right hand side?
You can see it during his closing thoughts at the end of the video
Set 75020
It’s the old playset bro
I think this set does not deserve the hate as it is pretty cool imo, and it is also geared toward kids, but older people like us can also enjoy it.
is it the 2012 version or the one with a 50th anniversary lucasfilm plaque? the bigger R2D2
I'll wait for a sale, but it will have to be fairly significant. I definitely want the Leia to finish the set, but I'm liking the Chopper build as well.
I don't think the execution was too great, but i think it's still a cute concept.
Imma have to wait to the absolute last month before all those 25 anniversary sets retire so that I can pick up all the anniversary figs. barely any of the set they come in are actually interesting for me.
Question: I just bought the new millennium falcon 75192. It does not show the number of pieces on the bottom of box. I see online some pictures show the piece count and some don’t. Are both real from LEGO?
There is not even one set with matching minifig. If someone wants just a fig they are forcing him to buy a set he don't care about, and the other way around.
Small correction: There was an astromech droid minifigure with third leg in set 9497. T7-O1 from the old Republic
great parts set once it's discounted
this set is kinda on the pricier side (100 bucks is just too much) but the idea is really great and is cool too see lego focusing more on the creativity and fun factor
Is it gonna be qt kt or r2 kt? I heard r2 kt and would much prefer her over qt the meaning behind that droid is everything
Will you be looking at the new Jaws set? Really looking to add that to my collection.
whe being early with this one 🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥‼‼
100 dollars is completely insane
$25 a droid is INSANE
Since the 25th anniversary wave is almost coming to an end, it would have so cool if Lego made boba fett in his prototype armor as a anniversary figure
A lightsaber builder would go hard as a set
I feel like it would have been much better if 4 sets were released each with a different droid, and 1 maybe 2 accessories. The more you get the more you can mix and match
AWWWWW
I can't believe we got young leia instead of Ralph Macquarie darth vader
Not for me but great set for kids 👍
Do love the minfig though 😊
What’s the scale like up against a Brickhead?
Isn’t there a buildable droid station at Galaxy’s Edge? So wouldn’t that be more comparable?
When I’m in a wasted slots competition and my opponent is modern Lego 😳
When on Sale for 10 dollars maybe might be bought 🎉
Oh this set is amazing. I done care about the minifig though
Man I just want chopper, like can we get a $100 scale size chopper set
My only issue with this set is having to buy it(or search the web) for the 25th minifig. They could have selected a better set to put it in.
1 veiw in one minute is more than me, good job!
I STRONGLY believe this should've been four $20-$25 sets as opposed to one big $100 kit. If LEGO is targeting kids with this set, then a much smaller price point makes a huge difference, while also allowing customers to pick and choose which droids they want instead of being forced to get all four.
Would definitely get this for me and my gf but not for $180 in New Zealand where I’m from 😂😢
Don’t forget the R2 brick head. Lol
all they had to do was put the 4 minifigs of those droids in this set and move the leia fig to the c3po set. so simple.
Ayo What’s that SailBarge Doing behind you @Solid Brix Studios
They only put the young Leia in this set to get people who normally wouldn’t be interested in it to buy it. Pretty scummy.
I would buy only that R2-D2 for 20€.
I have a feeling this one will be in Costco for like $80.
Too expensive for what you get.
1:34 A better comparison would be the Galaxy's Edge droid builder haha
8:19 a full 360 is not the same as the opposite direction. It would be a 180 degree turn
🤓
@@watteyThat's literally primary school maths, if you think that's nerd stuff it says more about you than the first guy.
I just want the Young Leia minifigure with L0-LA.
For me.
I'm only gonna get the set for the 25th anniversary.Young princess leia because because to me, the set doesn't make any sense. They kind of done something else
What about the 25th anniversary Darth maul in the Lego book
These random accessories remind me of among us 😭
One question
Why?
someone explain to me why this set exist (wrong answers only)
Can't wait to pick this up for $20 in 2025
R2D2 touching base with eggheadz, I mean brickheadz.
1:10 r2 kt and r2 q2
These accessoires really look like among us cosmetics
I think it’d be fun to build with friends or families. Each person could take a droid home. I don’t know it is niche but not bad.
this is a weird set
im kinda down for everything here EXCEPT the buildable addons
they're cute, but i find that all the extra accessories are kinda useless to me
might grab it if it ever goes on sale
Glad you have your livelihood for getting this review out first.
LMAOOOO
Cool idea for kids but otherwise I would never buy this set nor can I see it selling very well.
The R2 does not look good, it needs a more rounded dome!
We will see this for 50$ soon is my guess
So, this set will be the only thing stopping me collecting all 25th anniversary minifigures..
I think it’s cute! It’s like a Mr Potato Head.
Hot take: I think this is a really cute set, good for kids and a fair price
Definitely a hot take $170 AUD for 4 gimmicky droids is awful
@@Malty404 well I live in US and USD conversion is about 150 AUD so youre definitely getting scammed, though I dont think 150 AUD is awful.
Why Lego, so many printed peaces in a set like this and not in the sets we want.
When I was a kid watching Star Wars I never once wished that I could dress up R2D2...Even if back when I was a kid if my dad wanted to dress up droids I wouldn't have liked it. Maybe if it was just the droids without all the weird stuff.
They should’ve put Darth Malak in this set
No, that would’ve been horrible
While I like this set, it is not for me. Would have loved it as a kid, though. When it hits clearance prices I might get it then just for the droid builds and put the accessories in my spare parts bins.
We just got a r2d2 that looks way better than this, what a waste of a spot for an actual good set
I actually am interested in this set it’s seems like a good display to have around the house
Its really cute and unique, cant wait to pick it up on a high discount!
I'll buy it because I want the four droids, but all those accessories are just going in a ziplock bag.
I usually think that lego star wars is expensive compared to other lego themes but I'm overall ok to stomach it. This, on the other hand, I can't wrap my mind around.
As the price/part ratio means objectively next to nothing, I can't see anything worthy of interest inside this box except maybe a few printed elements and the anniversary figure. I can't see myself picking this up above 50€ and the figure will most likely be super expensive on the secondary market since this set might not be opened a lot.
Props to lego for trying something new but that's a pass for me as well.
