Hi Bro I have a router provided by my ISP its a fibre based, it has 4 ports one is for fibre-optic cable which comes from ISP. Other 2 are LAN ports one is connected to my PC via LAN cable & a telephone port nothing connected to it . Can I configure pfsense on my PC. Also what do I need to do physically on it like which port is required etc..? Can Pf sense be installed on a VM & then used on a physical machine as a firewall?
You can run it on VMware. But before you do, consider how much energy your PC gonna use. You will have to keep it on 24/7. Every time, you restart your PC, you would lose internet. And depending on your usage, it can consume a lot resources from your PC. There are other tutorials on RUclips for this topic.
I set up another user, used randmly generated password. Once I had to use a keyboard and screen to login there in console and... 40 characters password - no way to copy from the password manager - total failure ;-)
Amazing work. Thank you!
