Thanks for the comparison. I"m in the market and just started my research on building my own home sim. I just don't think I can take the 5 second delay of the Skytrak. Is this normal, or can it be boosted with better software/hardware?
Chris Baker I don’t even notice the delay and for me it’s often 2-3 sec 😊👍 and I’m not really sure if you can boost it by having a better computer, I think it has more to do with how strong connection the SkyTrak have to the iPad/ computer 😊
@@3o1Golf Great, thanks for the reply. Maybe in person the lag is better. My course has an HD simulator that we can use in the off season. I guess I'm spoiled because it's so accurate and fast (like the ball hits the screen and the digitized ball emerges immediately from that spot on the screen and takes flight)....but I can't afford to duplicate a $100K sim in my home!
@@airbaker2 i know the HD Golf looks so good :) The only software that does the same with the ball flight is Creative golf 3D and u can use it for the skytrak :) here have a look on this vidoes where i show of a bit of the range on the creavite golf :) ruclips.net/video/1KpjKiz1Koc/видео.html
For Optishot you need to tape drivers and woods. Plain black electrical tape over the bottom with a strip of white electrical tape works extremely well.
Too many many lines and marks on the base plates of Woods and Hybrids, Since I placed a strip of white electrical tape level with the leading edge, It seems to work well apart from when some slight movement happens to the Optishot Mat. Waiting for my denser Turf to arrive then I will fix it all into one unit to stop it sliding. Two many lines on a base confuses the sensors, the old Mitsubishi golf trainer one of the first to read a Club Head using Sensors, used to read from above and side, we used to have to put a Magnetic Strip on the top of the Putter for it to read the leading edge correctly, great equipment in its time but the mat used to move frequently. One good thing about Optishot is it needs a good rhythmic swing to work well, which is a great thing to build on. Anyone that has played Golf to a high level will know or probably tell you their best shots took very little effort I always have to remind myself that Golf is a Swinging Game not a Hitting Game, and nothing to do with Sex or Fighting
Here's what i'd like to see: Go to the driving range and hit real balls off of the optishot and/or skytrack and then do a comparison to the true ball flight at the range.
@@3o1Golf Sounds good. Maybe a visit to the range later in the evening would allow the optishot to function where it wouldn't have direct sunlight perhaps? Just a suggestion. Looking forward to the video!
I am so grateful for this video! I have been using an optishot for a few years and have always wondered about its accuracy. This let me know that I cannot trust Optishot to help me fix my drives.
No problem mate! I am so glad to help! thats why i started this channel, i had the same problems so i decided to get the skytrak and optishot and start to compare them :) i will also reach out to flightscope and try to get a demo version of the mevo+ so i can compare it to both the skytrak and the optishot 2, and with a bit of luck we might be able to do that :D have a great day! And thanks for the comment
I've seen some people having success putting a bright light over the optishot to help it read more accurately. It does look like you have some shadows in there, maybe a light right over it would help?
Jeremiah Sells There are not much shadows over it but it helped a lot when I tried taping the driver 😊 you don’t need to tape the whole thing tho like I did xD I also have a spotlight in the small cage above the optishot, the ceiling is to low to hit drivers there tho 😊 I have a video where I show when I try to tape it m.ruclips.net/video/Yg5DsK4WsQs/видео.html
I wonder if the Optishot is more accurate at a slower driver swing speed. Your club head speed appears really quick (lucky you!). Maybe it'll be more accurate for us golfers with much slower swing speeds haha. For curiosity, perhaps you could test it again but swing slower.
You need to calibrate each club to your distances and shot shape to match the skytrak then youll find much better accuracy . Go to edit club set.. takes a while but eventually its worthwhile
Thanks for the video, I’m looking to build my own DIY golf simulator in the basement. I’m going to avoid the Optishot at all costs, I’m a 5 handicap player looking for a little more realistic amount of fun in the basement with the guys, I’m going to try SkyTrak if I can afford. Unless you recommend something better?
Rhett Sarsany Thanks for watching! I would recommend going with the SkyTrak or mevo+ (the mevo+ needs a bit more room) both units are solid and in the same price range (2000$ ish) if you have a bit more money to spare I would recommend the uneekor QED (6000$ ish) or the uneekor eye xox ( 9000$ ish) 😊👍 then you get both ball and club data. If your in the basement make sure you have the height needed before buying any unit 👍 just see try and swing the driver in the basement 🏌️♂️ then you know if your good to go 👍 I hopes this helps if you have any more questions let me know and I’ll help you the best I can ✌️
I use my Opti Shot software on my impact screen to have targets to aim for. The unit itself went in the garbage where it belongs. Great video on its accuracy with driver, all clubs in my opinion are to unreliable.
sakicawaits I’ve just had some problems with the driver but I’m going to try taping the bottom of the driver, for the irons the ball flight left to right seems fairly accurate 👍 and for the lengths if you tweak the calibration of the clubs you can get pretty good lengths, I will try that and do a video showing you guys how to do it 😊
Did you tape your driver ... I tried both ways... it is bad with a driver busy/fancy bottom... but with tape you will get better results on the optishot..
I have two identical old SLDR 10.5 460 drivers... I taped one ... the results where definitely different... the non-taped tended to read fade and draw much more often and to greater degree than the tapes club... I typically am a slight fade..when taped, it reflects this..AND with my M3 driver; on the course I have removed any draw/fade bias adjustment because I can keep it in the fairway pretty good... optishot has my M3 stat avg as 0.7 deg face open and avg: on plane ... swing speed 102 and distance 273... for me these are accurate..... and most importantly, I have improved by using the optishot for practice and tweaks
@@kafklatsch3198 Of course you can improve using the optishot! :D and i will try to tape my club when using the optishot and see what happens ^^ when i hit drivers now with it the optishot exaggerate the draw/fade , but the tape might help ^^ ill make sure to make a little video about it. Thanks for the tips :) much appreciated!
i have tryed tapeing the driver now and it works much better on the optishot when i do that :) i dont get those crazy left anf right hooks with it, now its more like on the course.
I don't have either but it seems you are comparing a $300 system against a $2000 system. I don't doubt that one does better. Most of us mere mortals can't afford the high price equipment.
thanks for watching! yea you can expect the optishot to give the exact same ball flight since it doesn't messure the ball :) BUT the optishot does a very good job for the price to estimate if the ball goes left or right when it messures the club.
james jackman thanks for watching! Hello mate I have done that as well but didn’t get much better results, the driver that exploded was silver 😊 but taping the leading edge of the driver helps ALOT 😊 I have a video about it on my channel 👍
I beg the differ...his lower body is totally activated. He's got a strong balanced base and torques his lower body very well. It's not the lower body it's being able to time everything together.
