I'd never seen Ritenour playing straight ahead jazz, only fusion. This is what I like!!!!! In return, Carlton is really excellent at playing his own fusion style.
The keybord player plays very well but his sound, using a digital emulation of an organ, is not that good. Those days (90's) electronically emulated Hammond organs weren't that good if you used the factory sounds (presets). To get a good sound out of them, you had to go all the way in and adjust every single detail... Then, the sound would really do the job! Never as good as a B3 in working order though!
i also dont like the electric bass they dont sound as good as the contrabass they used in the 30s and neither the acoustic drums, they dont sound close to the ones the tribes used in africa!!!!!! com on man concentrate on the notes and the message the artist is trying to get across!!

Just a few very special reasons why I love the discipline of musicianship.

It’s called Ocean Avenue off Ritenour’s album Wes Bound
@@tonyj8465 but it's very much inspired by Wes... with these octaves and block chords...

Musicians still use contrabass.
If Pat Metheny and Russ Freeman were in that room it would have reached critical mass and exploded.

@Bojazzki Mr. Montgomery actually saw Rit play when Rit was still in teens. Wes said something to him like "You 'get it' kid. Great playing."

Tasteless "organ" playing
