He cant run fast or move laterally, but hes literally a walking bucket inside, and diverts/blocks shots regularly. Theres tons of highlights of players challenging him and failing miserably, as well as a very simple hook shot he makes incredibly easy and unblockable. Boban also has utility on special plays, like a 1 time final possession on defense, that make him slightly valuable. That being said he simply cant play a normal amount of minutes due to fatigue as well as liability on defense.

  • @justdirt

    There is no reason why a G League player should be making 40k a year only. The MLB has a very similar issue with their minor league program. But the MLB has 3 leagues and 100s of prospects, the NBA only has like 15-20 guys on a G League team. Raising that to 70k a year would cost 450k total each year. That is half of a league minimum deal btw. Every team could pay their G League player 100k a year, provide a team facility for training and meals, and many other things for the price of Hunter Tyson a year. Most people reading this have no idea who I just said even is.

    • @jofieji5312

      Ya but it doesn’t make sense when no one watches the g league. Making a living wage to play ball is still a blessing. Especially if there are any benefits like health insurance not sure if there is though.

    • @dbeast03
      @dbeast03 7 месяцев назад +14

      Really the solution is probably somewhere in between 6 figure contracts and no money at all (aka you're screwed if you don't make the cut). But the catch is that money should come second. If the G-league doesn't make enough on it's own to justify paying the players much past a living wage, the benefits *SHOULD* be there to guarantee that these guys who are a step or two down from the NBA level can't have their lives ruined by injury, that's what I'd argue is the key. If you tell a dude "look we can't pay you a crazy amount but we can guarantee you play the game you love, guarantee your doctor visits are covered, and guarantee we've got people dedicated to keeping you healthy" they may not be happy about not making the NBA but they will be a ton happier down the road than if you just gave 'em a shit contract MLB minors style and told 'em to piss off when they got hurt.
      In other words, keep these guys healthy and make sure their lives outside of basketball aren't destroyed by an injury and most of them will be more than happy to make a mediocre living off of a game they love, even if it means the NBA is out of reach.

    Thanasis is definitely a low end NBA/high end G League player. Thanasis can be a benchwarmer in any other NBA team.

    Sick of the slander on Thanasis who is always a professional, always works hard. All of his teammates have nothing but great things to say about him.
    Giannis rookie year, he averaged 6.8 pts. He didnt have any pull in the league. The next year thanasis was drafted on his own merit by the knicks.
    Having giannis on the bucks and explode into a superstar for sure gave him a leg up in getting a roster spot for the bucks. But hes not as bad as people say, especially for an end of the bench guy. He averages 10.5/5.9/2.5 on nearly 50% shooting in games where he plays at least 20 min... His career high is 27. There are a ton of end of the bench guys who could not match his production.

    Bro, great vid! You can tell you've put in the effort to script and research this.
    If I suggest an improvement, it is obvious from your intonation when you are reading, and when you are speaking from memory. You want these to sound more similar unless you're specifically quoting something!
