What if Piccolo Had A Son?

- In the future of Dragon Ball Z, Piccolo had to make a choice. Like his father, he sired a son. What If Piccolo Had a Son and Future Gohan had to help raise it?
See, as much as we would like to have it that Piccolo survived in this version of events, that wouldn't really make much sense given how strong the androids were by comparison. Trunks and Gohan are the only ones who survive and that's how it will remain BUUUUUUT, Piccolo can change what he DOES...so, in this timeline, when he is staring his own demise squarely in the face, he decides to make one last desperate move; something that his father had done that brought him into the world: before he dies at the hands of Android 17, Piccolo is able to spit out an egg, when he manages to get a Solar Flare off on the droid and get some temporary cover. His luck is shortlived though when 18 catches him, she wearing some very strong sunglasses. "Oh please," she said with disdain, "That little lightshow is all you got? Pathetic. Now stay down, you pesky slug." With that, 18 finishes Piccolo off with 17's pride taking a metaphorical bashing. Despite this blow to our Dragon Team, Piccolo did successfully hide his egg from the Androids, neither of them were any the wiser. According to Gero's findings, there was no record of Piccolo ever being able to replicate King Piccolo's actions, they couldn't sense energy either so they flew off to find more meat to fry.

If I remember correctly there was a fan manga with Piccolo having a son. I believe it was Dragon Ball Kame (there was also Tien's daughter and Yamcha's son I believe. It was very next-gen focuses manga I think). And Piccolo actually named him "Nail" which was nice.

Let's count the variables:
Piccolo is half of a namekian (he and kami sharing a life link)
Being fused with Nail.
Piccolo being a fair bit stronger than those Namekians who came before.
Piccolo not exactly knowing what he was doing.
Bansari growing up in a war torn hellhole.
The long gestation.
It'll be interesting t osee how the little guy changes things.
Also, Bansari, don't feel bad. You've been a toddler for several years. Goten and Trunks were stuck in dungeroos for roughly thirty years.
Another thing to consider is that King Piccolo produced mutated namekians that were considered 'demons'. Piccolo probably inherited that trait so any sons he has could end up being a bit different from a normal namekian.

@@cryotheamayzo5445 It might be the case, though if I remember correctly, the offspring of King Piccolo mutated because of his malice. Piccolo, specially after fusing with Nail, probably didn't had such malice for his eggs to mutate. In my opinion, I think Bansuri's power comes from the fact that he's the offspring of both two fused Namekians, and the strongest Namekian of U7
@@HannibalKantter I agree. Bansuri is a Dragon Clan Namekian born from a Dragon Clan Namekian that fused with a Warrior Type(Piccolo). He definitely has lots of potential, but I also think Bansuris growth is different from Piccolos because Bansuri wasn't born with a particular purpose unlike Piccolo. I also think that since he was born in a dangerous time sensing the turmoil of the world and possibly the death of his father depending on his awareness in the egg at the time, Bansuri stayed in the egg on purpose and likely only came out because Gohan made him feel at ease and safe

Oh this is just so good: the surrogate father-son dynamic going full circle, wholesome moments paired with new interpretation of the namekian's powers; Frieza being used as mace against his own father (If only Trunks did that too in the original) this what if has it all. I can't wait to see the next parts
One thing that would be nice to see is the little guy using his "grandpa's" devil powers for good, Piccolo just kinda dropped magic altogether, even before Z.
Kinda curious. Obviously this is supposed to differentiate from the Gohan Survived What-If, but immediately it acknowledges that Popo is still around in the future. The scenarios are different so maybe they didn't think about the option of the Room of Spirit and Time. Maybe Popo didn't want Gohan and Trunks to use it and possibly lose his mind in there while he was responsible for the baby's safety. Or maybe the Androids destroyed the entrance. But I'd be curious to know the state of that plot point, because Future Gohan is going to learn about the room in the past anyway.
It's lord popo.. he's probably the one that had the earth's human infestation problem taken care of.
Hmmm well the Room of Spirit and Time isnt meant to be entered usually, he allowed it for Cell essentially because even Super Saiyan or Super Namekian couldnt fight, Super Saiyan CAN fight the Androids, they are just limited and cant hold 2 at once.
Or perhaps he considered that a veteran hit with PTSD and children that are far too young to handle the losing mind part would not work well, tbf, se can just say "shhh"

13:42 I'm probably looking into this too much (or watching too much Bleach) but Bansuri's healing seems very similar to Orihime's where she doesn't technically heal but turn back time on what she wants to "heal"

I love this! Namekian reproduction has always been an under explored party of the lore! King Piccolo did all kinds of weird stuff with that ability! Dende definitely grew up slower than Piccolo.
I assume the namekian genome is enormous, with an intricate system of epigenetic fine tuning that allows for huge phenotypic variation despite all namekians being near genetic clones. Which genes are turned on or off is partially chosen by the parent and then altered by the environment.

I read this as "What if Piccolo had a gun" and now that I learn it isn't piccolo pulling up with a pistol and injecting Ki to fire literal Ki Bullets I'm disappointed.

I would imagine it's down to the circumstances, that and Piccolo wishing for any child of his to not be lumbered with his "curse".
Imagine the Zenkai boost Gohan got from coming back to life instantly after dying

If the brains haven't received oxygen for about 3 minutes, they will suffer permanent damage. Meaning a person is technically revivable through conventional methods within that time window if they lack any major brain trauma. Or if they end up in a cryostasis of some kind. Basically I'm saying if you can magically heal someone within 3 minutes of their death, you should be able to revive them. And if you can heal brains as well, then full on bringing someone back to life from any situation isn't unreasonable. Any sort of healing magic is extremely broken if you think about it, because what exactly is preventing it from also being able to revitalize brain processes if it can do anything else?

And Chiaotzu survived along with Yajirobe. Revival abilities might not be so good, maybe Lazuli got distracted with little guy and that's how Gohan would keep his arm at first encounter. Later he brought back Gohan, which soul was leaving his body at this point and kinda that's how he kept him in land of living and then cured, less broken ability then I would say. In total looks good as whatifery.
Masako, with a new movie, we should have "What If Piccolo asked Shenron for the two Power Ups from Super Hero in Cell Saga?" (Maybe with a better title).
Let's keep Piccolo still relevant even after fusion with Kami!

One thing that's obvious that I'm shocked never been touched, What if Emperor Pilaf Saga never happened. Like all of those events never happened to Bulma going out on her quest for a boyfriend and meeting Goku to Pilaf and his gang never seeking out the dragon balls. I suspect that the Red Ribbon would still develop Dragon Radar (Vomi may have a hand in that if she took the designs from Capsule Corp) So if they seek out the Dragonballs they would still have run into a much weaker Goku at his home. They would also have to deal with what ever Dragonballs are at Capsule Corp. I think to give Goku the best chance in this scenario Red Ribbon goes after Bulma's balls first attacking over Capsule Corp and she escapes with her superior Dragon Radar with a more noble goal of stopping the Red Ribbon Army and runs into Goku before them.
Does he have the power of the dragon balls at his disposal like normal abilities? Sounds a bit like it. That would make him someone who can change aspects on reality on the fly, a quite interesting ability for a dragon ball character

Probably just super charged healing, because unless there is full destruction, most of the individual cells that make up a body are technically still alive after death, at least for a few moments (the brain can stay active for several minutes) and real life doctors have brought people back before, so imagine what magic healing can do
Technically Kami was one of the dragon ball makers, Piccolo wasnt but there must be some shenanigan with their divided self that led to this outcome, Kami could give back to the dragon and effectively accomplish a miracle, now whose to say the long gestation period isnt because Piccolo wanted his son to accomplish miracles to save the remaining warriors even if the dragon balls were gone and a few balls maybe already destroyed since the Android caused destruction in every urban area and a few rural ones.
One wish every 3/6 years without the dragon ball thats less powerfull than Shenron's wish would be quite fair in my opinion
@@Freedmoon44the dragonball uses the energy the dragonballs accumilate to grant wishes, their max lvl of energy collection is limited to the lvl of their creator.
If he wants to grant wishes then he wil need to not use that much energy until he can grant them so he's basicly yamcha, cant do anything

PLEASE CONTINUE THIS STORY!!! This full circle scenario of Gohan raising Piccolo's son Bansuri is an Amazing idea! Have Bansuri learning from Future Gohan, meeting Piccolo and Kami, and at least learning a few key factors of being Namekian. The potential is bountiful

So this idea from the live-stream neat. 👍 Man healing Gohan fully back to life, and replacing his arm too Bansuri has a lot of power inside of him makes sense on why it took so long for him to hatch. Next part will be interesting with Present Piccolo meeting his son (Bansuri). Anyways another really good start to this new series, and looking forward to the next part soon.

He can't have his own kid. Warrior Namekians like him don't have that ability.

Well, it's possible it would at least temporarily reduce his power, namekian reproduction is strange because they're not entirely mortal creatures. I think they're partially divine in nature so when they reproduce it's almost like they're giving part of themselves spiritually to their offspring as well, hence why king piccolo produced all those twisted mutant demon offspring.
If we're talking Future Timeline, he probably didn't have the chance, and outside of a scenario like this one, even if he did, the Androids would've probably destroyed it.
Going by the Daizenshu, Warrior Clan Namekians like Piccolo can’t produce eggs.
And it makes u wonder about Namekians, piccolo grew in 3 years, but how old is Dende really when we met him in the Frieza saga and how far into the Buu time skip did he grow up?
Piccolo is a warrior namekian and Dende is a dragon clan. Dragon clan are healers and babymakers and DB makers. warriors fight, so growing to fighting age fast makes sense.
He's old enough to be attracted to Gohan haha

@@pn2294 Piccolo's FATHER was, but when he birthed Piccolo Jr (the one we all know) he specifically made him a Warrior Clan to beat Goku. He's not a Dragon Clan Namekian anymore and hasnt been since before the "Z" part of Dragon Ball.

Piccolo can't birth children, thats a dragon clan namekian ability, and piccolo is a warrior namekian. Nail couldnt have kids either.

I absolutely loved this story, especially the hidden power of revival, that is really interesting! The only thing missing from this was you including Gohan saying to Freiza, "Don't you recognise me? I kicked your ass on Namek last year" and Frieza laughing like, "Oh the little monkey has grown so fast!" to which Gohan responds by smiling and transforming, much like Future Trunks did... this can still happen in my headcannon ^_^

I really hope that Piccolo and kami actually fused in the future timeline and the reason why his son is so much stronger it's because he's the combination of both of them considering that even if they would have fuse together because they never trained to fight the Androids they wouldn't have been strong enough to defeat them because they didn't know about them so the extra strength they would have had for the three years wouldn't have been added to what they got when they fused so they actually want to have been equal to future Android 17 they would have been a bit weaker probably a little weaker than future Android 18

This is a great story and I love where you are taking this story. This will be amazing because this time he will be able to find out where Namik is and he will have the information from Goku. One thing I do wonder... with Gohan being more or less a father to both Trunks and his own little green will he look at his own father's parenting with distaste. I now it best chance wont happen... But with Gohan still alive could we get some Gohan x Future Bulma this time around. THey are both adults and have spent years together raising children. It also look like she doesn't interact with anyone else beside Gohan. Just thinking it could be a cute relationship and give Future Trunks some siblings on top of little green.

Meh it's also quite freakish. I never considered future Gohan a father figure to Trunks, more like older brother. Trunks inclination to know his father Vegeta from the past, kinda shows that.
I would have loved for Piccolo to have a son in the main timeline as it would also likely force Gohan to take on a more main character role. This would have benefited the story of DBZ greatly as one of the biggest problems is how Gohan became irrelevant after the Buu Arc. If Piccolo had a son in the timeskip, it would have forever altered the trajectory of Dragon Ball, potentially for the better.

Also, would you ever consider doing "What If Masako's Twelve Favorite Stories Were Universes?" Essentially doing a SDBH: UGM tournament story so we can see Ranch, Nappa, Bronze 21, Mystic Chi-Chi, Sentai Bulma, the Cheese Squad (Goodyu Force), Saiyan Krillin, etc. play off of each other.
Or failing that, maybe do a tier video of your What Ifs that have had TOP coverage, ranked by team?

Man, this what if just gave me an idea for another possible what if. I dunno if it would be as versatile as this idea, but I think it would be neat. What if Tights (Or Bulma, one of the two) called Jaco/The Galactic Patrol during the Android Saga? Either timeline would work for this scenario I feel.

Wow I haven't been this excited about a what if in a long time I can't wait for the next part and hope it doesn't get lost in the shuffle
This is a nice one to see since I once suggested a similar idea where Piccolo spits out an egg after sacrificing himself for Gohan against Nappa. Masako seemed to like the idea but pointed out that Piccolo was only like 9 when that happened, despite appearing to be an adult, so it was questionable whether he could reproduce yet.
He can't. Warrior Namekian's like Piccolo Jr can't ever birth children. Only Dragon Clan like Dende and Kami and Guru and Moori can.

@@kradeiz King Piccolo was the other Half of Kami, a Dragon Clan Namekian, which is why Kami can make Dragon Balls and Piccolo Sr could make children. When he made his son, he made him a Warrior so he would be stronger to take revenge on Goku. Being a warrior now he no longer has those abilities.

@@saphcal while that's interesting, Piccolo Jr is still at least partially linked to Kami, meaning that at least some of the Dragon Clan DNA has to be present. That or it's a soul link and not based on their body at all. Would Body have affected that?

This is one of the many reasons why I follow you Masako your mind is amazing,But you always talk about how you wish to humans had more shine and more power-ups more screen time in the series will why not make a story about Tien Shinhan(my favorite character)Krillin,Yamcha,And even Yajarobe finally getting a What If,And a dang good one to(since you don't seem to wanna make more Db R&R any time soon.

You always pump out exciting new What If's, even this had me hooked as soon as you explained the premise.
I just wish you woud 'focus' on maybe three or four What If's scenarios at a time, because the waiting time between episodes is just... *gut-wrenching*

Hmm perhaps this extra time in the egg, extra time growing, and this amazing healing ability is because Bansuri is the offspring of a fused Namekian which hasn't been seen in so long, that's why is growth isn't anything like what other Namekians know of.

Ohhh wow! Literally could've just had Roshi mention his sister since I don't think Bulma would remember and Gohan probably wouldn't know. They could've just gotten Goku for a day like I know some things after the movie kinda make it weird and questionable. For example Popo not showing Trunks and Gohan the hyperbolic time chamber, King Kai NOT helping the Earth or Baba not stepping in to have one of the Dragon team helping out. Like WOW

Hey masako!! Here is another what if idea. What if the time delay for the use of dragon balls more than a year. Or even increase more and more with each use.
Correct me if I'm incorrect, but wouldn't Piccolo Jr. having a son mean that the Kami in that time would still exist? Piccolo Sr. creating Piccolo Jr. was enough to keep Kami from dying with him in Dragonball, so wouldn't the same apply here? Unless future Piccolo already fused with Kami in that timeline, then it's all irrelevant.
Piccolo didn't make his a kid a reincarnation meaning he isn't linked to Kami.

@@kfizzle4376 Kami would still be alive and the Dragon Balls usable. So, they could wish everyone back. Or, at least have Gohan, Trunks, and Piccolo III train in the room of spirit and time, clear the threat of the androids, and then wish everyone back.
Piccolo can't even make children. Thats a feature exclusive to the type of namekians that can heal and make dragon balls.
