- As part of May's Tivvy Fest in Tiverton, the church tower at St Peter's opened its doors and allowed visitors to climb to the top and take in the views.
As well as the magnificent scenery, there was a talk about the history of the church, the bells and a demonstration of bell ringing.
They are truly fabulous bells, and I do like the way the clock chime sounds Queens and Tittums!!
I rather like it too
Beautiful pre war Taylor bells
Also Gillett and Johnston clock.
They still make clocks
The 3rd has a resonance that reminds me of the treble at Litchfield Cathedral.
Bells must always come down first before leaving the tower & we'll some ringers keep the bells up all night but I'm always not kean on that.
Why is the tenor headstock numbered 10? They are in a 8-bell frame, so presume ten wasn't under consideration when they were installed.
