GIRL I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST MEEEE I’d avoid scrambled like the plague and then crave them for exactly one week every two years or so. But boiled, esp soft boiled, I will eat them literally every day.
Eggs give me the ick occasionally also. It comes in waves lol. Somedays I can eat eggs some days I can't. And if I do it has to be cooked a certain way for me to enjoy them.
the egg ick is so real!! not only is it a texture thing, but a smell thing for me sometimes too. i'll be halfway done eating a fried egg and then suddenly think "ew. this egg smells like fart." and I cant finish it 😭😭
{ Mayak Eggs } - Boil eggs (add salt and vinegar for easy peeling) - Ice bath + let cool - Peel - In large container lay eggs flat + 1 cup soy sauce + 1 cup sweetener (she uses 1/2 cup white and 1/2 cup brown sugar) - make sure well incorporated + a ton or garlic and chilis + a little water to dilute it + sesame oil + sesame seeds + a whole mess of green onions + acorn syrup (optional) - For even coverage add an unbleached paper towel across the top - Let soak for a couple hours - Enjoy
I love this for an easy, go-to pair on top of rice! I like to add a little vinegar or calamansi juice to the sauce to make it a little tangy. Kind of some like adobo! 💖😊
@@rjy44maybe they just wanted to share their nationality to show appreciation, like saying “love from the Philippines!” Or because the dish looks like adobo (filipino dish) lol
I LOVE Mayak Eggs, and make them all the time (but leave out the hot chilies in most Mayak recipes)! I love Korean food, so eat a lot of it, but these eggs are ALWAYS in my fridge even if nothing else is. I drizzle a bit more Sesame oil on them when I serve them and add some fresh green onions. Warm, on top of a bowl of rice... comfort food deluxe! 😋
Same here. I found out from my old Italian neighbor that strong smell means the egg isn't fresh. He keeps chickens and I get fresh eggs from him and have no problems with smell or keeping them down
@@MrSobaudonyou’d be adding more either way :) I get what you mean thought! Paper towels absorb water more readily. Even if the oil is settled on top, the layer should be thin enough for the paper to disperse and make contact with the water layer when placed down. It works out fine when you do it, give it a go :)
Actually, there are many different kinds of these marinated eggs! They’re all super delicious, but if you’re wondering about ramen eggs; they’d be called ajitama. But in the end, who cares what they’re called, they’re amazing! 😋
To make your eggs easier to peel without wasting salt and vinegar that doesn't do anything. Simply crack the bottom of the egg slightly where the air pocket is to allow the egg to expand inside while cooking. Once it's cooled in water it will shrink bringing water into the shell and making the shell very easy to peel.
Eggs are one of the few foods I don't get the ick for. Specifically scrambled eggs. I always find it so interesting when things I like and find comforting are so vastly different from someone else. Being different yet still chill with each other is so cool.
I used her recipe because it looked the most appetizing that I had seen out of all of them, but it was only OK at best. I even let the eggs soak for up to a week and stuck them a couple times but it really didn't put much flavor into the egg. Now, where the real yum comes in is using that sauce over some pasta with chicken! OMG it is the actual best pasta ever!! I even made a batch of it in a little bullet smoothie blender just to pour over some pasta one night because it is so delicious. And so quick too. With q rotisserie chicken, that is like a1 10 min meal! Great on those late work nights or late pool nights in the summer!!😊
Looks pretty good. I'm half-Filipina, and my mom sometimes makes Adobo with boiled eggs that soak up the Adobo sauce and it's absolutely delicious. I wish I could share her adobo with everyone because I've had other people's versions of it and none of them have even come close to hers.
Oh my God this is a life saver - i literally have egg ick right now and I still have like over half a carton. I even have most of the ingredients. Gotta try this tomorrow!
I think I’d be a better idea to mix the sauce together before throwing in the eggs just to prevent the eggs from breaking when u mix the sauce
I thought it was weird that she didn't make the sauce first and then add them to the eggs. 🤷🏻♀️
She’s a content creator so she probably just did that for the visuals
The sauce gets absorbed better when they're that way
@@ayeshafatima9577that doesn’t make sense.

FELT THAT TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE
“Eugh this egg is too… eggy,,,, get it AWAY.”
That's the sulfur in them getting to you. Totally understandable.
Omw. Same. The texture of boiled and scrambled eggs is a struggle. Also if I wash down eggs with a cup of coffee I'm guaranteed to vomit later on.

Thanks!
What kind of Chilies??
What a DEAR !!! Thanks for writing this down for everyone 🥰✌️👌👍👍
Korean here! ‘마약’ (mayak) is our umbrella term for ‘drugs’! They’re named this way because of their addicting flavor
Thanks for the explanation and clarification regarding the name. I honestly thought she was saying 'Mayan eggs'...
So like how Americans love calling extremely tasty foods "crack" + the item lol
Like "crack chicken" here :)

So real with the ick on eggs bc of the texture. They’re so good but sometimes I need a break loll

I noticed that too. 😂

Using a paper towel as a kind of membrane to ensure full sauce coverage is genius.
Actually using Rice Paper wrappers works better without putting Lint from the Paper towels onto the Eggs and into the Marinade.
Yes! I don't know why I never thought of it!
Wouldn't it also soak all the sesame oil? Might be better to use more sauce??
