I have the sephora credit card, I got it last year to get 25 percent off because I wanted the k18. I tried to use my earned rewards with the 15 percent off and they won’t let me. That sucks.
Always love the transparency on your channel. How many of us have had makeup purchase regrets but we didn't want to admit them?! 😢❤😊 Thank you for always saving us money.
Thank you for circling around and giving feedback on your purchases. I quit Sephora for several reasons. As only an insider 10% isn’t much and by the time the sale is available to me most stuff is sold out. Quite honestly their makeup overall is overpriced. Ulta gives a $ reward and really can’t be beat (+ they have luxury brands). I’m wondering how long Sephora can maintain their current over priced, poor reward and limited stock model.
I think it does well because not everyone has Ulta. Sadly, they don’t ship to Canada so our choice is Ulta or Shoppers Drug Mart which is priced pretty much the same.
Jen your videos are a breath of fresh air. I can't stand all of the constant Sephora recommendations videos and I love that you told us what you liked and didn't like in a well-thought out and researched video. This is why you're going to end up with a million subs!
So true! And have you noticed how some influencers are recommending literally *everything* in the Sephora sale to make as much money as possible off affiliate links? I really respect the content creators who instead value our hard-earned money and only want us to buy what's really worth it.
I've pretty much avoided any Sephora Sale Rec videos because I don't need to be persuaded to buy more than those few items that I really want. This is a fun video concept though - purchase regrets!
I’ve been deleting everyone’s Sephora hauls but not Jen’s, always happy to see what she has for us.❤❤❤. I didn’t buy anything cause I only get 10% off, I can get better deals elsewhere.😊
Exclamation perfume from the early 90s!!! That reference right there made my whole day!!! Love how relatable you and your channel are. My Sephora haul was delivered yesterday and I already regret a couple of things… so I appreciate that you keep it so real and let us know what we don’t need at these price points 🙌🏼
The size of the Milk Makeup sticks is honestly ridiculous. $24 for such a tiny thing? I have no interest in ever purchasing one 😬 I’m also so sad about the Rare Beauty lip oil being too drying for me. The color is beautiful and I love the stain it leaves behind, but I hate having dry lips!
Jen - thanks for all your info… but for me, the K18 products are really what I need now. I had not been so aware that grey hairs are very coarse and mine are like antennae sticking out of my head. This oil might be a good product for my coarse hairs. I wanted to let you know too that I have been using a tan color of the L’Oréal Balm which we don’t mention much anymore. It’s a soft tan but works as a bronzer for me. Also the Milk products are undersized and overpriced- I had purchased a bronzer last year but stopped using for winter…and oh surprise 😮 it pulled a Tom Ford on me. Smells like a crayons, applies unevenly and is resting peacefully in a garbage can 🪦 Thanks for all your recommendations! 💋♥️
It’s so interesting hearing about the K18! I worked at a salon as a receptionist, and the girls always used Olaplex in the bleach too! I’m going to try out the K18 now tho! Very cool!
Thanks so much for this video. You just saved me like $70! I really really wanted the Rare Beauty brightside contour, the Milk Makeup toasted, and the Kayali perfume. I'm going to pass on the contour sticks and will smell the perfume in store. I was so close to checking out on the Sephora app and am so grateful this video came out first. Thanks again 😊
Jen, because of your honesty I decided to forego the Sephora sale this time around. I have more makeup than I'll ever be able to use. Thanks for being my sensible older sister. Love you and your channel!!!
I’ve never seen any of your videos before but I’m glad I stumbled upon this video. I loved all the alternatives that you showed and I’m impressed in how similar the drugstore options were to the more expensive ones
This video was so helpful! I have a hard budget and have been trying to whittle down my Sephora cart but videos like this remind me that drugstore products are just as good.
I love this! Everyone is doing, what TO buy during this sale, and honestly I'm sick of it because I never shop this sale 😅 love seeing the alternatives!
Thanks for reporting back on your sale purchases! I usually have to be picky about my Sephora sale order because I only get 10% off right now (covers sales tax and some spare change where I live). It was gutsy blind buying a perfume--I never do that unless maybe it’s a sampler set.
Hi Jen, I don’t recall which video it was, but THANK YOU for sharing your experience with the NuFACE. I had already bought it when I saw your video. So I tried it a few times when it came in, and I loved the results. But then when I would lie in bed at night I could feel the heart palpitations. I’ve never had them before. If you had not mentioned it I don’t think I would have known it was from the microcurrent device. I’m really surprised these are FDA cleared. Again, thank you. I returned it to Ulta today.
Oh my gosh...I'm glad you returned it! I know a lot of people are fine with it but it definitely affected me and it sounds like it did to you too, so better safe than sorry!
@@JenPhelps definitely not worth the risk of heart problems!!! I also heard you should not use microcurrent if you have any metal fillings or implants of any kind. Well a lot of us have those!
I love the pistachio perfume called Girl of Now Elie Saab, it's notes are: Pistachio, Pear and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Almond, Orange Blossom and Magnolia; base notes are Almond Milk, Tonka Bean, Cashmeran and Patchouli. Wonder how it compares to the Kayali one?
Saaaame! I have similar stuff in my collection already🥲 and need to remind myself I am only doing make-up on myself and I am not a make-up RUclipsr or pro make-up artist! 😂
I love your comparisons, Jen. gosh, you sure put so much time and care into all your videos & I came to trust your reviews and advise. Thank you so much. I just adore you & btw... You look extra pretty today. I love your hair!! Thanks again for uploading
Jen... Thank you so much for talking about light cool-toned needs! We absolutely struggle with bronzer & trying to find a pink/gray/red tone. And the more you talk about it, the more light you bring to the lack of inclusiveness. It's so refreshing to see someone who's similar and I just wanted you to know there are people listening with the same issues.🤍
Exclamation (!) Perfume!!! OMG! I hadn't thought of that perfume in years!! Yes!!! I enjoyed the rest of this video, as well. Lately there have been so many videos promoting hundreds of dollars of Sephora products for the sale; it was a nice contrast to hear about products that didn't work for someone!
K18 is so much easier to use too as a leave-in instead of having to wait and wash it out. That was always my problem with Olaplex. I was too lazy to be consistent. But I did hear a stylist say that K18 is basically a keratin treatment and can make your hair brittle so now I’m afraid to use it too much.
Yes I love that it's a leave in! That's one reason I never used Olaplex that much. I only use K-18 once a week and sometimes not even that much if my hair is looking good. Basically I use as needed. 🥰
Those eyeshadow sticks look amazing. I remember recently you saying you weren’t the best at eyeshadow application (which you shouldn’t criticize yourself!). And I know you’ve talked about taking the eyeshadow up higher, because of your hooded eyes, but you might try taking it even higher. I have really bad hooded eyes and I started taking my mid-tone color almost all the way to my eyebrows and no highlight at my brow bone (unless it’s a soft non shimmery color like my skin tone just to blend, and it really looks great! Just something you might want to try 🤷🏻♀️. Love your channel!
I went in the Sephora boutique at my local Kohl's today, and I HEROICALLY resisted buying anything! Yes! Not even the Clean Reserve sample set! I was SO GOOD!
l love the idea of not only showing what you got but also letting us know what products are worth the money and which ones aren't, and the best part, you give us more affordable options 👍... I think I'll pass the Sephora "sale", I'm only an insider so at this point most products are already sold out, plus I got a bunch of stuff during Ulta's 21 days of beauty and the Spring sale, which IMO was even better, who needs Sephora? 😆... great video, as always, thnx Jen! hugzzz 💜🤗
For those MIlk Makeup contour and bronzer sticks, put them in the freezer for a little while. Then take out and twist the protective cap off slowly to remove instead of lifting it off.
I bought the Kayali Pistachio yesterday in store. It was the first time I tried it and I just love it! I don’t love it when I first apply it, but the dry down scent is perfect for me. It lasts the whole day.
Another option for the Rare Beauty lip oils are the Milani Color Fetish Balm Lipstick (would looove to see them come out with more colors). They leave a really nice stain AND they keep your lips moisturized. It’s in bullet form vs liquid/applicator but does the trick.
I appreciate so much when you mention where some products are made!! Because of you I got some of the Sephora brands products, because you show them and mentioned they were made in France. Thank you
We are skin twins, and Happy Sol would not be too dark for you, however, it’s still more of a bronzer color. (That is how they are marketed, as bronzer sticks).
The BEST brush to blend crayons on your lids or in your crease is the sephora pro #18. After watching Amanda z, (we both love creams and she is amazing) that is the brush she had recommended and wow, she was right. 😊❤❤❤
i was waiting for ur content about sephora sale.....while evryone is mentioning probably 5 products in each category from sephora (which is unnecessary), i was like "every item has a better option at drugstore but in less price) ...thanks
This was refreshingly different, I thoroughly enjoyed it 😊 I couldn't help but notice that you applied your contour shade quite high (not below the cheekbones), it was in the same place as your bronzer. Is there a beauty secret we need to know about regarding contour placement? The Sephora eyeshadow pens look amazing 😍. Are they good for mature eyelids? Love ya, 🧡💜🧡💜🧡
I just started doing that with my contour after seeing Kelly Strack do it...she showed how much it lifts your face and it's such a good tip! It was this video here (it's a quick TikTok) www.tiktok.com/@kellystrackofficial/video/7221196813452365102?lang=en&q=kelly%20strack%20contour&t=1681861674357
Loved your haul video and it’s the only influencer one I will watch.Your honesty is amazing, plus you have such a soothing voice that doesn’t make me want to run!
You are right about the bronzer colors from rare beauty, I have happy sol and I’m warm skin tone and happy sol is more warm than cool tone. So it worked for me. Very natural, no ashy color.
I LOVE those Uoma Lip Oils and no one talks about them! I actually went to order another shade yesterday and it was sold out but they were on sale at Walmart for $3.88, so crazy - Carli
Love this concept. Always good to know about regrets or things that are good products but just don't work for you. Your hair looks great BTW. And love the eye look. Will have to check out the sephora crayons. 😍 I am same coloring as you so if a shade works for you it will work for me. So Thanks for pointing me in right direction all the time. Be well. And enjoy the week!❤
As for the MUFE cream palette, I would definitely look into Seint because it's the same type of cream concept, but you can customize what colors work best for you. It's not just a standardized palette.
Yes!!! I have to agree with the Rare Beauty lip oils! I sent mine back! I was expecting a regular lip oil and I hate the "cooling" feeling and stay away from it!
@@JenPhelps Thanks!! The Tarte ones are creamier than my ELF ones a tad maybe. I’ll try to get in habit of using them and then consider Sephora ones next sale. Trying to stop my stockpile.
The makeup forever pallet is meant to customize your color by mixing. It was created for makeup artist I’m ab your skin tone and I use all their pallets I even add some pink from the corrector pallet if I need more pink undertone in a concealer
Sephora sale sucked for me. I bought the Benefits Precisely My Brow pencil. The worst eyebrow pencil ever. The Rare Beauty bronzer I bought looked like dirt on me. I’m a light olive but just not right. I hear you. Great video btw.
Thanks for a super helpful video! I am waiting to try IT Cosmetics waterproof superhero mascara. Sephora was offering a sample so if I like it I will buy it. I can only wear waterproof.
Thanks for sharing you haul regrets, good to know what you were interested in and what your disappointment was about the products. I have one of the Rare Beauty lip oils, and I like it, but I agree its not worth twenty dollars. I'm planning to pick up a few things during the sale, but I'm going to try to focus on what I need and not spend too much.
Thanks so much for sharing. I am sorry that you had regrets, maybe you can use the products in different ways. I had 11 items in my cart and then I looked at everything and thought, why do I need more? I ended up only purchasing 2 items. Always love your channel!!💚
I have fair/light cool toned skin and happy sol works for me. It's more neutral than cool toned however. It's a tad warm for my liking but overall I enjoy it and use it everyday
In my opinion, all of the rare beauty bronzer sticks are that yellow base tone. I believe I have the happy sol color and it is a little bit too yellow for my liking and I’m also fair/cool undertone.
Yay!! I love it because unlike Olaplex you don't have to rinse it out! The only thing is they say not to use conditioner...just shampoo and then put the K18 into towel-dried hair. Then let it sit for 4 minutes before you dry.
You're right it does but no, someone else commented Brittany Spears Fantasy and I'm almost positive its that one! Julia Adams said it reminded her of it.
I know it's not really related to this video, but I know you love cream/liquid blush, so I figured that I would recommend the Makeup Revolution Blush Bomb. I haven't really heard anyone talk about it on RUclips, but it is pretty good imo. They are dewy, blend easily, and are pigmented (but not like Rare Beauty level pigmented).
@@JenPhelps It didn't seem sticky to me. I normally just apply some to the back of my hand first, and then use a brush to blend it out. They have a serum/liquidy texture.
Hey, Jen. I love your videos, and i too bought the milk makeup stick without doing a ton of research and thought it was still the same size it used to be and when my order came i seriously thought they forgot it bcuz the box is that small. I have a tip though for the product not being ripped up. If you twist it up a tiny bit and then you can pull the plastic piece off. I only know from experience as the 1st one i ordered years ago did the same exact thing.
Oh my Dog, the Uoma by Sharon C, It's Complicated Lip Tint + Oil + Gloss Peng is fragrance and flavor free!!! And I have to agree with you, Jen, about the Milk Makeup contour stick packaging. Since the product costs $24, that's a lot of product to lose from opening it!
I like it WAY better than the Olaplex oil. I don't mind the Olaplex one...it was okay but the K18 just makes my hair feel so much silkier. I only use 2-3 drops for my long hair but it's enough to make it look smooth. :)
We pretty much have the same completion and undertones. Just from the reading I have done, people recommend Happy Sol. That's the one I have saved in my cart. I've been trying to find a really good pink undertone bronzer for fair skin.
Thank you Jen for letting us know about the rare beauty bronzer stick in bright side. Just in time I just bought the same shade but haven't used it yet. I'm going to return mine.
People go buckwild for the Sephora sale, and I used to as well. Now I just sign up on whatever company's website and they end up running better sales than this. I especially don't do the winter sale. I just do black Friday and I always end up on top.
Absolutely! I made a video before the Fall sale talking about why I wasn't shopping it and Black Friday was my biggest reason! The individual brand deals are SO much better!
I really enjoy your reviews and recommendations especially when it comes to saving money. I recently purchased the Rare Beauty lip oils in Hope and Wonder and I was surprised by how much I like them. I am mid 40s and found these to be really hydrating to me. I usually just use lipstick but my daughter has me branching out trying new things. I am also enjoying the NYX lip creams and the Maybelline superstar vinyl ink which are not as hydrating but have staying power. Still on the hunt for more hydrating foundations/concealers.
Yes yes yesss!!! I ditto the smudge I hate it !! It looked great when you applied it on ! Tubing is the way to go . More companies need to incorporate the formula in their mascaras .
I love the hella thicc mascara, but you are correct about the wet formula, my lashes are so sparse, so I usually use 2 coats, use a clean mascara wand to get the clumps out and go over it with my tower 28 mascara! The things we do, lol! No smudges, and that’s after working a 12 hour shift at the hospital.
Jen! I took some of your advice on Sephora brand stuff to get and you were right about those eyeshadow sticks and the blush/highlight palette. Amazing! The silver eyeshadow stick is incredible on the waterline. Thank you! ❤
Just a heads up about the K18 oil, apparently you only get the reparative benefits of the peptide when applying on damp hair! As it's pretty expensive, it may be worth using a more affordable oil when applying to dry hair. I learned this while watching Abbey Yung's review 😊 I don't think I've seen you mention Beauty Pie in awhile, do you still use their products? ❤
Yes! It has to be damp and also you can't use conditioner with the treatment...it says to shampoo only and then apply it to damp hair as a leave-in. I use the oil both wet and dry though, and on the bottle it says you can use it on dry hair for heat protection (even if the peptide isn't doing its thing). I do still use Beauty Pie but the last few times I talked about them on my channel I got some negative feedback. A lot of people seem to think it's a scam (it's not but that's kind of the general feeling I get from the comments, so I just stopped mentioning it).
@Jen Phelps Yes! I was very skeptical about skipping conditioner with my hair, but it doesn't seem to be a problem so far. I am looking forward to seeing the results after continued use 😀. I guess I can see why some ppl think Beauty Pie is a scam. I use it and love a lot of the products. For what it's worth, I really enjoyed your BP product reviews. I can't afford to try them all (especially now that there are so many new releases!). However, I understand wanting to avoid the drama ❤️
Regarding the milk makeup sticks. Mine stuck too but what I did was replace the clear cap with the product in it and put the sticks into the freezer for maybe a half hour. The caps came off perfectly then. Hope that helps someone!
So helpful to hear about the misses as well as the hits. I bought some of the Sephora collection products that you recommended on your previous video- the foundation , retractable eyeliner, eye crayons and the lip gloss 😀
This video is really helpful esp on the rare contour. Jen- I was debating between Rare, danessa Myricks bronzing balm, and Merit bronzer stick. And idk which to choose. Like you I am very fair w cool undertone. And I am not good at blending thick contour sticks like the NYX. I hear the Danessa Myricks blends itself but I also hear it wears away on oily skin. I would be applying the bronzer before my setting powder. Would you rec Merit over DM?

I bought the Kayali Pistachio yesterday in store. It was the first time I tried it and I just love it! I don’t love it when I first apply it, but the dry down scent is perfect for me. It lasts the whole day.
I like that you now have included where the products are made more often.
Another option for the Rare Beauty lip oils are the Milani Color Fetish Balm Lipstick (would looove to see them come out with more colors). They leave a really nice stain AND they keep your lips moisturized. It’s in bullet form vs liquid/applicator but does the trick.
I love those!
This was refreshingly different, I thoroughly enjoyed it 😊
I couldn't help but notice that you applied your contour shade quite high (not below the cheekbones), it was in the same place as your bronzer.
Love the Clarins and Kylie Lip Oils. Thank you for sharing dupes❤️
Love this video she is so real and authentic if it’s worth it you will know exspensive or not completely unbiased reviews!
I’m neutral toned and happy sol still works for me. It’s slightly warm.
I LOVE those Uoma Lip Oils and no one talks about them! I actually went to order another shade yesterday and it was sold out but they were on sale at Walmart for $3.88, so crazy - Carli
Love your videos ❤your dupes are always in point. 😊thanks
Your so good at explaining the products. Love your channel ❤
That's better! :)
Yes!!! I have to agree with the Rare Beauty lip oils! I sent mine back! I was expecting a regular lip oil and I hate the "cooling" feeling and stay away from it!
How would you compare the Sephora chubby sticks to the ELF eyeshadow sticks and dual ended Tarte quickeye ones?
I think they're maybe a little bit creamier than the Elf ones and I haven't tried the Tarte ones. 🥰
I hear you. Great video btw.
i would like you to share your skin routine, your skin just keeps getting better
Thanks for a super helpful video! I am waiting to try IT Cosmetics waterproof superhero mascara. Sephora was offering a sample so if I like it I will buy it. I can only wear waterproof.
I have a similar skintone to you. I use the Happy Sol Rare Beauty bronzing stick and it looks great in my opinion. I suggest trying it out ❤😊
Thanks for sharing you haul regrets, good to know what you were interested in and what your disappointment was about the products.
So good. Want to try K18 for sure. Wondered about the new Kayali perfume. Didn't expect that soapy note. Thanks for reviewing, Jen. Blessings!
I didn't expect that either...it's kind of powdery/soapy which is a bit strange.
I just ordered myself a Mini of the K18 treatment! I’m very excited for it.
Yay!! I love it because unlike Olaplex you don't have to rinse it out! The only thing is they say not to use conditioner...just shampoo and then put the K18 into towel-dried hair. Then let it sit for 4 minutes before you dry.
Hi Jen, ate you thinking maybe Loves Baby Soft. That has a powdery scent. Great video. Thanks again for your honesty. I really appreciate it.
You're right it does but no, someone else commented Brittany Spears Fantasy and I'm almost positive its that one! Julia Adams said it reminded her of it.
Always SUPER informative, love the comparison products as per quality and price. Thank you!
Your hair looks amazing K18? Happy Sol is your shade for sure!
I use Rare Beauty bronzer in Happy Sol and it does have a pinkish undertone. I love it and I’m on my second one.
I've seen those but I was worried that they might be sticky...are they? If not I'll definitely try them!
@@JenPhelps It didn't seem sticky to me. I normally just apply some to the back of my hand first, and then use a brush to blend it out. They have a serum/liquidy texture.
@@JenPhelps I am pretty pale, so I just got the shade "Dolly Rose." It is a pink that seems really good for spring/summer.
I have the happy soul, and it’s the best colour for under pink tones.Try it!❤
How do you like the k18 oil vs the olaplex? I've used the olaplex oil for a couple years now
I like it WAY better than the Olaplex oil. I don't mind the Olaplex one...it was okay but the K18 just makes my hair feel so much silkier. I only use 2-3 drops for my long hair but it's enough to make it look smooth. :)
Thank you Jen! Saving this as my reference for future purchases. You share so much value in your content!
We pretty much have the same completion and undertones. Just from the reading I have done, people recommend Happy Sol. That's the one I have saved in my cart. I've been trying to find a really good pink undertone bronzer for fair skin.
The rare beauty lip oils look good on you. They’re very flattering. I especially like the Joy shade on you.
I loved Exclamation!
Thank you Jen for letting us know about the rare beauty bronzer stick in bright side. Just in time I just bought the same shade but haven't used it yet. I'm going to return mine.
I have Happy Sol and I have light skin with cool undertones. It works very well for me.
Thank you! I originally wanted that one and it was sold out so I went with the lighter option. I should have waited!
Try Versage Dylan purple - sweet fruity and warm - delicious!
That sounds great, thank you for the recommendation! 🥰
Thank you! ❤
I still want to get the silver one! 🥰
@@JenPhelps tilts gorgeous. 9 hours later it was still in my water line and it’s so bright!
Just a heads up about the K18 oil, apparently you only get the reparative benefits of the peptide when applying on damp hair! As it's pretty expensive, it may be worth using a more affordable oil when applying to dry hair. I learned this while watching Abbey Yung's review 😊
I don't think I've seen you mention Beauty Pie in awhile, do you still use their products? ❤
I have light neutral olive skin and the rare beauty bronzer in bright side is absolutely perfect for contour for me!
Regarding the milk makeup sticks. Mine stuck too but what I did was replace the clear cap with the product in it and put the sticks into the freezer for maybe a half hour. The caps came off perfectly then. Hope that helps someone!
Hi Jen-
I am glad you are back. This video was a great twist on all tge Sephora videos. Ty.👍
The nyx sticks for the contour and blush are great!
I really enjoyed this video concept! It was super helpful hearing what didn’t work out for you. So excited to try the Rose Oil-Infused Toner!
I am fair and Happy Sol is perfection in the Rare bronzer stick. It is my fave cream bronzer.
Jen, Thank you for another honest and informative video. Your hair and makeup look especially awesome today.
I haven't tried the DM but I LOVE the Merit one in the shade Clay. It's the perfect color and an effortless blend!
Thanks for sharing. It's great to see what works & doesn't.
I appreciate you so much !
