    You play for a national championship and less than 24 hours later, your coach bails to your arch-rival. It was quite jarring. The players needed someone they can trust and who they know has their best interest in mind, unlike the previous coach. It was the right call. Just like Vitelllo, O'sullivan and others also took over major programs prior to having head coaching experience. And Earley and his family love Aggieland and the community.

    Earley was the critical coach within the A&M program. Their main recruiter, main player developer and guy who the players all love. Little, if any, positive notes from players related to Schloss. Anyway, this move likely maintains our roster including keeping Jace. Almost all the players have been actively supportive of Earley as HC. We might loss 1-2 players but think that is it. Texas really pissed off boosters and they are throwing money at NIL savings. Move is going to haunt Texas, especially if Earley takes out Schloss in the series next year. Ags have everything to gain, Texas has everything to loss. Love being in that position. You forgot to also compare it to Vitello as an AHC moving to TN with zero HC experience. Finally Earley was the best interview and blew away the AD of all the candidates. Risky...yes? But immense upside versus paying $3M+ on an established coach that isnt necessarily any better.

      Wasn’t Nolan Cain the main recruiter?

      Cain was the main recruiter, but Earley played a big role as well. But everyone credited Earley with the rise in their batting. I think he can absolutely put this team on a big run next year, especially if they get their portal guys and Ashenbeck back. But beyond that it's a risky move.

      Nolan Cain was the recruiter. Weiner was the elite pitching coach.

    Texas A&M just approved $85 million for a stadium renovation as well. From what I have heard donors were very upset how Schosnegle left, and they have been donation millions for NIL

    Noone is going to Austin. Maybe 1 goes to LSU but I think most, if not all, stay at A&M. I don't see any impact to LSU for the 2025 season. Long term... We will see.

    All depends on the assistant coach. If you had asked the UT players would they have preferred Skip Johnson to David Pierce..hands down they would have gone with Skip. And I completely agree on Kent

  • @dorothygarrity3388
    @dorothygarrity3388 5 дней назад +1

    Could Kent play short ? just asking because we need good SEC experienced bats if possible because the pitching in our league is so much better than the others.. I think that is why we have so many recent CWS championships.

    inexperienced HCs...seemed to work out for the Vols. To call is a massive risk when the NC was just won by a HC that was as promoted assistant (which all HCs are at some point), is just ignoring the recent trend.

    • @crammons7330
      @crammons7330 5 дней назад +2

      While I think the hire will work out fine for A&M as well I wouldn't go to call it a trend yet as that needs multiple successful examples to use, Vitello as 1 example would make an outlier as 1 example that's worked out phenomenally

      Tennessee was a dumpster fire baseball program when vitello took over, so there was no risk. A&M was literally a Game away from a championship. This is a big risk. Apples to oranges comparison

    🏈 And ⚾ are two very different sports. No comparison, the #1 baseball coach Tony V had no HC experience.

    I tend to disagree on it being a bad idea of promoting an assistant. Though it’s not guaranteed to win big. It we’ve seen many assistants do well as HC. Lincoln Riley, Tony Vitello, Marcus Freeman, etc…

    baseball is baseball.. this coach is a former MLB player... he knows baseball.. try and understand that.. no risk

    Aggies everywhere groaned when they saw that their AD didn’t go after a big name high-profile coach, but instead promoted one of Schlossnagle’s staff. I expect to see the Aggie baseball program take a big slump this next season.

    Listen.. this is your standard goobler A&M move. TexAgs had to get some "revenge" and the roster for 12-18 months was worth hiring a new head coach and someone that probably is going to want to be paid near head coach money to "be beside him" as he "learns" wit ha team that was in the CWS a week ago. Anything for a short term, even if very mildly small impact, emotional win. Sure, it probably does keep a few of those bodies around. But bad bad reason to make a hire. Every season past next season was put on risk big time just for next season.

    • @GSDadd
      @GSDadd 5 дней назад +5

      Disagree, A&M usually goes after a big name with no history or loyalty to their program. I think the Jimbo debacle has them looking at people who can develop their program. I actually think it was smart & I think his long term success is dependent on the staff he brings in.

    • @brianscott691
      @brianscott691 5 дней назад +2

      That isn't the only reason for the hire. That's a very short sided take.
