Never ones to let Celebrating "trans-women" get in the way of celebrating well....trans-women (u know, the ones with twiggs and berries to brazzenly show off in female spaces! To minors)! But who cares! Congrats trans-wom....I mean, Women!
That's absolutely true. Though we cannot celebrate some one or some group by removing their contributions. We cannot celebrate black history or the things they've achieved by removing Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima, and we cannot celebrate women by removing what they've done. We should be actually celebrating what these women have done, not removing their contributions.
Why are we celebrating either of them. Shouldnt we celebrate people who actually did something, regardless of their physical characteristics? I really couldnt give less of a shit about the sex or colour of the one who discoverd how to use penicillin as medicine, i only care that it was discoverd and that we benefit from it today.

Maybe, but they also know that most of the US population has the attention span of a gnat. When I was a kid and the Soviet Union was a world power, the Soviets used to claim credit for all sorts of things, like the telephone, and the first airplane, etc.
The first flight not using a catapult was performed by Santos Dumont, a Brazilian inventor that also helped in the invention of the "zepelin" and was the first to fly a Lighter than air aircraft around the Eiffell Tower.
They "invented Baseball" too. All that was missing were "hot dogs, apple pies and Chevrolets", and then Russia would have complete claim over all American pride. Oh, and they also claimed the first electric lightbulb.
@@C0lon0 No it wasn't. The Wrights in their first flight did not use a catapult. It would actually be several years of flight before they started using one and it was only to make things easier. The "catapult" people claim was actually just wood boards and a dolly so it was all straight and had an easier time getting to speed. It was able to reach speed without that. Also the first Zeppelin was flown in 1900 so its unlikely Dumont helped. Though he did work on blimps which are related but it would be like comparing a motorcycle and a car. Closely related to be sure but with many many differences. Many have flown as close to exact replica's as possible and when altitude density is right they routinely get off the ground the exact same way. For those who don't know even now altitude density is a major concern for aircraft and the Wrights had much lower margins for it then modern. It is the effective altitude based on things like temperature. In addition even Santos Dumont's first "flight" in a heavier then air the one he supposedly did that beat the Wrights was barely more then a half controlled hop while the Wrights years before had been doing full turns and flying for miles. Please do not spread falsehoods as they diminish his VERY real achievements the largest of which is one he is unsung for. His interest in flight was one of the largest factors behind the French until the interwar period being one of if not the best aircraft engine designers in the world. There is actually a good video by greg's planes and automobiles that touches on it and explains these.

Also, thanks to all the men out there for building just about everything and putting up with not getting the credit for it anymore.

It's so weird that they can't just celebrate women and womens achievements\inventions without having to lie or make things up. There are so many amazing women who were pioneers, you don't need to make things up like this.
It might be weird but it's not a new thing. Women have been held up as heroes of civilization and given credit for things they never actually did for all of recorded history. We were all taught ad nauseum about at least a handful of these women all throughout our school days. We all grew up thinking these women had accomplished great things, made astonishing scientific breakthroughs, etc that were key factors in the development of modern civilization. And while many of those women are key historical figures, the tales of their exploits are almost without exception as far from the truth as you could possibly get.

Another fun thing. Feminists babble on 24/7 that Whamen was locked to the home before Feminism appeared. At the same time as Feminism talks about how strong whamen was way back at 1909. Working and creating new inventions.
Plus it is fiction. Dr West did not single handedly invent GPS. She created mathematical modelling for orbits. Absolutely she contributed, but if she had never been born, someone else would have done the math and Ford would still have GPS in the vehicle. Instead of inventing stuff, we can just say Gladys was brilliant, and was an accomplished women, just google her background and career path. It is like someone trying so hard to fit it. Ford should be ashamed. Of course they are not the first to try this method of elevating.
Thank you for saying that, I agree completely. Being boastful that your gender accomplished something is to suggest that your gender is generally bad at it, which has to be the absolute height of stupidity for so many reasons. For starters who invented what, is frankly put an unfair game, shit, societally women obviously would have had a harder time competing at the times when these things were invented. I mean how many engineering schools in the 1920s took a woman's application even seriously, how many women even wanted to be engineers back then? Why not look at modern stuff when it was a more level playing field. They could have pointed out how women engineers improved on older designs, increased MPG or other stuff that's a big deal and if they hadn't taken pot shots at an entire gender they wouldn't have gotten backlash (as much, some people are pissy). They could have done it like this "This is (woman's name) she improved on the design of the V8 engine by (insert improvement) which increased it's fuel efficiency. Thanks (woman's name). This month Ford is celebrating it's women and the accomplishments they've made, to make life a little better for all of us. Thank you". Men like celebrating their women, they like badass women of history, warrior queens, racecar drivers and engineers, they just don't like it when their insulted first. This is a male btw, on my wife's account. I do hate these kinds of statements because they create the inevitable backlash and everyone ends up feeling shitty. Men get attacked and then the response which explains the lies makes it seem like women can't do certain things. Which is objectively not true. For the inevitable idiot '...their women...' isn't possessive as if their owned but like connected to. I.e. you can have a sister but you don't own a sister.
My uncle wrote the code to determine the locations in space where debris and decommissioned / dead satellites go when we started losing track of them. He received nothing for his work and got zero recognition. It was the groundwork for a lot of early versions of systems we have now and changed the protocols for satellite life and eventual re-entry or departure. I think now they are giving a bunch of credit for most of it to some woman who wasn't even involved.
Yeah.... Like, there are actual women that are worth mentioning, stop glorifying the ones that sucked men off to get where they were (talking about my grand grandpas achievements here, she literally sucked off the reporter that wrote the story giving her the credit)
Coming from the company that deliberately drug out litigation to avoid paying the paraplegic man that invented intermittent wipers as they waited for him to go bankrupt or die, I am not surprised they didn’t actually name some of the inventors.
Since we are debunking things...Robert Kearns was NOT paraplegic. Also, Ford did NOT drag out litigation. Kearns was the reason the lawsuits took so long to resolve. He turned down several settlements from both Ford and GMC. Fired legal teams, was dropped by others for being difficult to work with. I'm guessing you got your "facts" from the movie "Flash of genius" rather than doing actual research on the situation.
What’s particularly egregious about Ford’s ad is that most of these women actually did make some significant technological contributions to automobiles - and trains, apparently - but instead of acknowledging their actual achievements as part of a long line of inventors, engineers, and innovators, they instead, simplistically attribute the modern car’s equivalent to them.
Yes and at the same time turn these women into some sort of non-consensual gender warriors. FORD should be ashamed, poor advertisement simply to make sales on half truths is morally stealing. Why not simply show a birthing suite and say, Womens month, Ford thanks you for delivering us the most important part of the vehicle, the driver.
Do you really think this? The last person made a significant contribution to modern gps. Original gps was pretty trash, it’s accuracy was in the order of 10-100’s of meters. My point (one you seem to have acknowledged) is that women have made important contributions to the technology ford listed. This was just a fun little exercise to highlight the parts of a car women contributed most to. That’s it. Only sad, pathetic losers like the video maker and yourself turn this in to some political thing and get extremely angry about it. Take a look in the mirror and ask yourself if this is what you want to spend your life doing; getting genuinely upset about an advertisement which does nothing but acknowledge that women have been part of technology. Personally if I ever have a daughter I’d prefer we socially acknowledge the contribution of women to science and tech, because otherwise you have a situation where every man has the idea of engineering and science pushed to them, but women generally do not; you cannot then be surprised when more men decide to become engineers or scientists.
That's just an ad. It isn't meant to be historically accurate or right. Not sure why he is so fucking mad about every single little detail. Companies just need content to promote women's Day. If they don't, they will get violently cancelled by all the feminists

It ain't surprising woke ford is pandering to women hell they did the same thing with the rainbow crew they pandered to this is just another example of why to never by a ford vehicle.
The part that gets me about Hedy Lamarr is that, even if you scrap all the prior work, she didn't actually invent frequency-hopping. She hired a Caltech professor to create a frequency-hopping mechanism and then slapped her name to the patent. Sure, she had an idea for it, but it's not like she actually did any work to make it a reality outside of writing a check.

When I was a kid and the Soviet Union was a world power, the Soviets used to claim credit for all sorts of things, like the telephone, and the first airplane, etc.
Yep, it's called propaganda and that's exactly what this Ford ad is.
As confirmed by Ensign Chekov.

It might be weird but it's not a new thing. Women have been held up as heroes of civilization and given credit for things they never actually did for all of recorded history.

That’s it. Personally if I ever have a daughter I’d prefer we socially acknowledge the contribution of women to science and tech, because otherwise you have a situation where every man has the idea of engineering and science pushed to them, but women generally do not; you cannot then be surprised when more men decide to become engineers or scientists.

Woman: It sure is hot. * Waves a paper fan.
Years later: Air condition invented.
The internet: Woman invents AC!
... since it happened in Ancient Egypt, it's, of course, also a black invention
And naturally cultural appropriation if you use a fan to cool off. Even the fan in your AC is problematic
Don't forget that AC is sexist , since it tends to target women wearing more revealing clothes.
not gonna lie, without women saying things like "honey, can you do x for me" enough times, eventually men decide to make tools to do the job for them, otherwise we would prolly be short a few thousand useful inventions...

Omg. LISTEN. I just learned that you can click your turn signal in the same direction to turn it off. Life changed!! It does work. No more looking like a fool who can’t work her turn signal. I saw it on a bmw hidden features video. After having my car for five years. 😂😂😂
Love how “woman” is so loosely thrown yet those same people can’t even tell you the definition

Listen it's a very complex and intricate question involving may aspects and theories. Also Im not a biologist.
I think the Ford Motor Company has enough money to hire an expensive team of biologists to work on this labyrinthine enigma.
More impressive is that the first driver to the supermarket was a woman who was wearing women’s clothes and feeding her children. She was loved by all who knew her and contribution to her family contributed greatly to society when one of her children grew up to become Bruce Caitlin Jenner , the Wheaties champion
You can't blame Ford for wanting someone else to have invented the windshield wiper especially when they lost millions after they infringed on an intermitten windshield wiper patent in the 1960s and the owner sued and won in court.
OK, this one pisses me off on a personal level. My great-grandfather has a patent for a turn-signal design that my grandmother was immensely proud of. We have the patent framed.

Your telling me that he identified as a woman? So brave.

Dude, that's awesome. Just goes to show that really technical contraptions for things like turn signals is something many people had an idea for, just never made it a reality. Only a few get lucky where their stuff is used for anything major. Too bad your great grandpappy couldn't get his invention in a vehicle.
But anyway, short story:
You'll probably never believe me, but my late Great Aunt was the original designer/illustrator for the Las Vegas sign. Y'know, the classic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas." I don't know if they changed her design or not. I haven't seen the sign in a long time. Way back in the day, she drew the iconic design and ultimately ended up donating it for the city to use. Of course she never realized what Las Vegas was going to turn into because in her day it was a nobody desert rat town before it exploded into the concrete oasis it is today.
Our family could have been rich if she kept the copyright because it has been used on every little knickknack, keychain, bumper sticker, shotglass, and t-shirt imaginable. The royalties would be off the charts. Whoever holds the rights to the sign now is a millionaire. lol
So yeah, that bit of family history is flippin' awesome. My great aunt would probably revolt in disgust if she saw what Vegas is now with all the debauchery.
They certainly didn't invent the turn signal.
If they did its pretty ironic that they barley know where it is let alone how to use it🤦🏼♂️🤣

I wonder if the people struggling to put these lists of relevant women together ever end up accidentally red pilling themselves?
They probably just get angry, screech, then go to the safe space room to cope.
I don't think so. Because they have a preconception that they simply wish to prove to themselves that is true. Combined with the denial of any other worldview and Information to the contrary is simply discarded as noise by the subconscious as soon as it enters. There's no real research and no thinking or real examination going on. In fact, it may be that in this state, driven by denial of truth and yet surrounded by it, that any tangetially-related (or not-at-all-related) datapoint may be accepted as proof at full face value, with a strength of proof in the persons mind that is inverse to it's actual relation (cherrypicking and embiggening). The absence of proof may actually strengthen their convictions if they are particularly self-unaware.
Either that or they're wilful liars.
They probably know this and are only taking the money for it
No, because they just copy/pasted the last year's list of (fake) women's inventions from Buzzfeed or some other woke trash site. None of these people does any research

The bigger problem with this and similar ads is, look how much effort is put in to researching the actual facts. The marketing department knows that the majority of people consuming the ad will take it at face value, ESPECIALLY with a companion website. That will be the extent of their research. And into the ethos of the internet goes more false information that will spread; which begets people stating the actual facts being called names or conspiracy theorists.

It was worse than that because it could have been fixed in the initial testing phase by just aiming it at a fisherman net and it would have fixed the diving depth issues but nooooo the Bureau of Ordinances say it too expensive so we shall use it with two terrible testing and passed it for purchase

I drove across North America, twice, without a GPS because paper maps work in areas with no service.
Back when I was a courier, it's a miracle I was ever able to make any of my deliveries without it. We had to use smoke signals back then.
they work in areas with GPS service as well.
I never even owned a vehicle with GPS until less than a month ago😂
Now days most areas have service
People managed to get around just fine without GPS. I don’t find it useful for navigation in itself, but when it knows there are traffic delays and gives you an alternate route that is very useful.
Is THAT why my wifi is unreliable?
Women did not create all those parts.

@KT-pv3kl Ada Lovelace. The first computer programmer, working closely with Babbage, the inventor of the Analytical Engine, which is what's generally considered the first modern computer. 97% of the car is still there, yet we're acting like the 3% supposedly created by women are noteworthy.
@Mattus' Apparatus Sorry to let facts intrude but Robert Kearns, the subject of that movie, didn't patent his invention until 1964. He invented the intermittent wiper mechanism and NOT "the windshield wiper" as you so cleverly point out. Just a reminder that windshield wipers were invented _before_ 1964. But you knew that.
Rear view mirrors was introduced by a racer. A Ferrari driver I think. He put them on his race car and every car had them since.
A loud stereo was invented by a man to drown out women complaining about it being cold.
Yep. Mirrors had little use on regular roads in the early days. No seatbelts restricting movement meant you could just turn and look. And "fast" back then was what we'd call typical driving around town speeds.
My great-grandfather worked with a team at Goodyear that developed the tubeless tire, he was a pretty smart guy, when he was 100yrs old he would come over during the day so my mom could "watch" him, I'd play checkers and card games with him, even though I was only 8, he showed no mercy

It's interesting how that advertisement did not mention Bertha Benz, the wife of Karl Benz of Mercedes-Benz, who invented the first brake pad. It does not take much research to figure that out. Maybe it would have given too much publicity to their competitor.
There are tones of things that women have done that everyone can be very proud of. Why is it that we need to make stuff up and demonize men to somehow look like we’re appreciating women?
They described my first car as a teen.
