Really glad to hear when someone speaks some sense regarding left handed firearms and shooting. Great job! Wish more people were wise enough to realize this need.
I traded my SBE 3 Performance Waterfowl ($3400 gun) for a Browning Maxus 2 ($1700 gun). Best decision I’ve ever made. As someone who is a die hard waterfowler, the difference in the two guns is not even comparable in my opinion. The Browning Maxus 2 completely smokes the SBE 3.
I agree. Here in the cold, nobody keeps an SBE long. They are 1 shot auto-loaders in the cold. I would take a Winchester SX4 over an SBE. Have owned about everything. Currently running with the Beretta A400 Extreme Plus. Had a Maxus and liked it, just wanted to try something else, but have not tried the new version of the Maxus.
Didn’t have a performance edition but had a regular sbe3 and it shot way high and struggled cycling. I sold it and bought a maxus 2 wicked wing and haven’t had ONE single issue.
The A5 is a man's gun😁the new A5 is a nice gun we just had our season and I still use the original A5 still going strong. We don't get the Browning A5 or other Brownings in NZ.
The new A5 has trouble cycling lower base shells. SBE 3 has never had an issue. A5 is great for 2 3/4” - 3 1/2”waterfowl loads but anything lighter for upland and it may give you trouble.
@@chasekirkman5371 the only time my Benellis have jammed are when using those 1oz/7/8 ounce loads but if you read the owners manual on any Benelli that’s three and a half inch. Reliable shooting 1 1/8 ounce if you aren’t smart enough to follow the manufacturers recommendation then it’s like running a different kinda oil in your vehicle when the cap says 5w20
@@chasekirkman5371 I have never had problems with light loads upland hunting or trap shooting using 28 grams size 7's 3# or 2 3/4 loads in both old and new A5's.
Just pulled the trigger and upgraded from a Remington 1187 to a Beretta a400 xtreme pro. Now if only any stores had any shot gun shells to fo shooting.
Good luck on ammo. But great choice on gun. My a400 has never failed to feed. It’s shot just about every kind of loads you could think of and many times it wasn’t firmly on my shoulder. I feel on a sand bank last year and it still ran for me. When i got back home i went to clean it and the action was literally full of rocks and sand. I couldnt believe it ran.
Well it was the maxus 2 for me in the uk , the wicked wing was not available here, loving the gun , needed to shorten the L.O.P. By buying a 25mm inflex recoil pad rather than having a gunsmith cut the stock , next purchase will be a couple of Teague extended chokes Love your reviews !
Finally thank you for testing these guns with 3.5" shells. I am so tired of felt recoil tests being done with field loads. I am off to buy my Browning.
Benelli recoil is different than gas. But it’s preference I own a sbe 1 and sbe 2 each edition gets better for recoil but they also keep getting lighter
@@chrisgreenaway6696 Why do the Benelli guys always have to comment on nothing to do with Benellis. It's like they think nobody has ever owned a Benelli but them and have to mansplain to everybody. I have owned all 3 versions of the SBE and they all kick to much. I admit I drank the kool aid and was disapointed each time. I sold My SBE3 to buy my Browning maxus 2 stalker. Hopefully it will get here soon. By the way my SX2 is a softer shooter than my SBE3
@@pg1633 you were just a complainer sbes are great for hardcore waterfowl . I only feel it on Turkey loads . If you compared the three together 3 is way better than 1 . My Benellis haven’t failed me once so
@@chrisgreenaway6696 You are going to have to mansplain some more. Where did I complain? I always thought that recoil was recoil but thank you for letting me know that Benellis have special recoil. Mine never did (Just kicked like a Horse) but maybe yours are more special.
I’ve had a sbe3 for about 2 years now and just picked up a maxus 2 a few months ago. Love the gun but the maxus 2 does run a little dirtier than the sbe3. Love both guns though if I had to choose one it would probably be the sbe3.
I’d take my original Browning maxus over both of them. After a decade of use for clays, dove and waterfowl hunting it and it’s been for a swim, freezing rain and snow, etc… I am absolutely not convinced a gas gun is any less reliable in dirty hunting conditions than an inertia. Only in the event of an extremely high round count between cleanings and used in the same horrible condition MAYBE then you could see an advantage with inertia gun. And even then duck hunting forums are full of guys who have benellis that fail to cycle because they never clean the recoil spring.
I'm also left eye dominant, one of the reasons why I bought the Winchester SX 4 Lefthanded instead of the Maxus I've started shooting lefthanded when I was in Basic Training with the German Army back in 2004. I also prefer the Safety in the rear of the Triggerguard, I've size 9,5-10 in gloves, and many issues with the Safety in the front of the Triggerguard.
Great video Steve. That’s a lot of info on both in a very short time. Like the fast pace. I agree with pretty all your comments on the two shotguns. I personally prefer the BENELLI SBE3 because of the operating system. That said I’ve got a Browning Macus 2 as well. Never can have enough shotguns. These are my two favorite shotguns and you can’t go wrong wIth either, just comes down to the feel for yourself. That’s why I have both. I has enjoyed both of them. This was one of the best gun reviews. Just recently found your channel and I have liked all your videos I’ve watched so far. Full of great information, and honest opinions from you. Keep up the great videos and keep them coming. I like the comparison video plus Gun specific. You keep them coming and I’ll get watching. Thanks for your time, knowledge and financial commitment. I’m with you with the 3” VS 31/2” I shoot the 3” and do just great plus it’s extremely hard to find 31/2” ammo and it costs like hell. Keep up the great videos. Most appreciated always learn something new. THANKS
Hi Dale Robbins, thank you for checking out the channel and subscribing. I couldn't do what I do without people like you! 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
I've watched a bunch of your shotgun reviews. Love them. Just watched a review of the Maxus 2 by Country Strong Outdoors. One thing I liked was that he patterned the gun in the review. I think that is something you could add to your reviews.
Awesome video! I just picked up a SBE3 but I had the option to get the maxis as well. I’m really enjoying the SBE3 but watching this video reassured me that I picked up a great gun regardless
I don't see that roughly three tenths of a second spread across 3 rounds ( 1/10th second per round) makes much difference, and no one shoots upside down. The ease of disassembly and cleaning means more to me, along with fewer parts to break. The number of pellets on target matters most but this video is not that type of lesson. This man's videos are very well done and helpful. Either shotgun seems more than capable.
Just remember shotgun users when you cut a stock down you’re going to get more felt recoil a little bit OK but you have to make that choice. Anything more than a little better off with a 20 gauge.
Good shooting but “Most” hunters/shooters would benefit slowing down their shots not speeding them up. You have 3 shots better to make them count than to just throw steel as fast as you can. But otherwise spot on review and when considering long term reliability it’s hard to beat a Benelli. Look at the dove camps in Argentina they have Benellis with well over a million rounds through them. They last and easy to fix when eventually something does wear out or break.
@@flyingirish31 It’s not useless. Highlights how well it mounts, ergonomics, recoil and muzzle flip so you can get on the next target. Don’t think how fast it can cycle is what he’s highlighting.
Thanks so much for doing these videos. Best on RUclips. I'm currently trying to decide on my next shotgun and your input really helps alot. If you are able to pick up an A5, would love to see a comparison between the A5 and SBE3. Thanks
Aw, thank you so much for the kinds words. I just filmed a review with an A5 but it was the Sweet 16. I may just need to get a 12ga as well. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Hey man, on my old Browning Gold the end of the piston sleeve that goes into the receiver was the pin punch for the trigger group. And it's nylon so it won't scratch your finish. The gas system looks very similar, so I would bet that trick still works...
I just learned about the left eye dominant thing when I handed my right handed son a gun to check out and he naturally put it up to his left shoulder, I was super confused at first but he said it felt natural so I didn’t push him to shoot right handed. Now I have an excuse to buy left handed guns for him!!
It's a good excuse. But being a left eye dominant and right handed shooter. Right hand models work great. Just need to switch the safeties and usually a quick shim. Although no Shim needed on my maxus 2 lined up great out the box only switched the safeties
The recoil comparison would be more revealing if you loaded a second round into the tube so the bolt can return to battery, the perceived recoil is increased because the bolt mass is slamming back and staying back instead of returning to battery. Just an observation
You're right on. The forearm feels better than any other shotgun. It mounts perfectly with heavy jackets on. It's not how fast you can pull the trigger it's about accuracy. When you're hunting birds come in you never here anybody complaining about recoil. It's comes down to your own preference. Test wasn't that impressive.
Another great video!! Thank you for putting time and money into the TFL Project! Nothing like your channel existed before I bought my Maxus 2 and this will definitely help people in the market!
Hey Ryan, thank you for your encouraging words. We're just getting started. There will be much more to TFL in the future than just reviews! 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
These are the 2 guns I’m looking at. It’ll be for Turkey and duck though. Idk what to pick! I want the browning but since they don’t make a left handed model I think I’m going to go with the benelli. I shoot right handed but I play golf left handed and I know the frustration of not having support for the left handed people so for that reason I’m leaning toward the benelli. Thank you!
I’ve had a400plus for 3 years great shotgun but I’m going back to the 3inch sbe this year already got a sbe 20 love it . The beretta is too bulky feeling and fat benelli just feels better
I have noticed that not every SBE3 has a mid bead. Mine does not for example. Seems like everyone I seen a few years ago had them and now most I have seen new do not.
I am planning a review of the Ethos as we speak but since it is the 28ga version it won't be a great comparison with the Maxus. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
I've heard you say in a few videos that it's easier for left eye dominant people to start shooting left handed but I'm one of those people who is left eye dominant and was forced to shoot righty. Ive adapted over the years but I'd really love to see your video on overcoming some of those issues as you talk about. Any chance you could go over that and there might be some things I (and a lot of other shooters) could use- I know I'm not the only one out here.
@@ktmdevon Too poor to buy a lefty gun growing up, that's all we had and too late to switch now. I shoot fine, just seeing if there are any tips to get even better because I usually have to close my left eye so it doesn't take over
@@Drblood6721 I’ve never had a lefty gun until last year but my whole life I’ve always just shot right hand guns left handed and never really had much of an issue to be honest. It’s inconvenient but I can’t even close my left eye independently idk why it’s a family trait I’m left eye dominant and can only close my right eye so I’m a shit shot if i try to shoot right handed.
@@Drblood6721 my problem with shooting right hand guns is when the safety isn’t ambidextrous like my a391 I use for waterfowl I have to come off the gun or reach under basically to flip the safety off is what bothers me and will be switching to a a400 lefty or a gun I can swap the safety to left
Sb3 u have to aim under your target to hit. Its an awkward way to shoot birds. My friend swears its the best gun. But when you have 4 nice guns side by side. The sb3 feels and looks like a $500 gun. Maxus on top a400 second (could be first if it wasn’t so heavy) ethos then sb3. After comparing all the gun during clay shooting my buddy regrets.
You’ve shot all 3 side by side and still agree the Maxus II is the best? I’m really considering the A400 Plus vs Maxus II. I know the A400’s are super reliable, haven’t heard nearly as much on the Maxus line either good or bad. As a wild card I was also considering an Ethos 3” chamber.
@@sethrich5998 love the a400 quality and finish is really nice. Only downfall for me is weight. Ethos is really nice peice of art only downfall for me is its an enertia system so it kicks a little harder. Im looking for light weight and recoil. These three are all really great guns. Just get the one that will suite you.
I was pretty sure which would be the winner before the video started. I'm a Benelli fan. I like the simplicity and the reliability of Benelli. But Benelli just doesn't get any love from gun writers/video makers. I'll just stick with my Benelli, thank you.
I watched the video against the A400 and the maxus and felt the same way. I’m not saying the maxus is a bad gun but it’s basically a colorful SX4 at the end of the day, not a $2,000 shotgun in my opinion.
@@bentbast Ok, but is that really saying something bad about the Maxus… or is that more of a statement of how incredible the SX4 is at it’s price point. It’s entirely possible for the Maxus to be the best shotgun at $2k and also only slightly better than an SX4. Not saying it necessarily is, but that possibility exists.
I’ll also add he’s probably slightly biased towards the Maxus/SX4 lineups because the SX4 is what he shoots in exhibition. You’re obviously going to like what you have the most experience with.
I owned an a5 from browning and sometimes it have trouble kicking 1oz game load and alot of target load won't cycle through it too except for remington target load. *shrugs* don't know why I have trouble kicking them out. But with my benelli. It kicks anything when I shoulder it. Regardless of what shot I shoot. Also browning claiming to have best reliability of gas gun but in your video. The A400 definitely cycle anything in anyway you like with no issue. But nice video!!
Thats it, I need to pick up an A5 12ga. Right now I only have the 16ga. But I am not surprised if an inertia gun has issues with a 1oz load. I generally shoot 1 1/8oz out of semi auto shotguns. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Maxus 2 with cera-kote and a 26 inch barrel weighing just 7 pounds unloaded is my choice. Less recoil impulse than the inertia action and more weight forward to keep the barrel moving after you take the shot.
Should submerge these shotguns in water for a 3-5 second count and then run dry shells through them to simulate accidentally knocking your shotgun over, falling in the water while retrieving a bird, or just a heavy rain fall. After all these are waterfowl shotguns not safe queens. That would be a cool thing to see! Great videos keep them coming. From a Canadian fan 🇨🇦
Excellent video as always! Love that shout out for us lefties/cross dominant! Puts the pressure on manufacturers to offer left hand versions. I'd love to have the Maxus II but Benelli/Franchi gets my money as they care the most 💸
@@jacksonkennedy5987 that was going to be what I was going to by but I don’t just duck hunt I dove and turkey hunt and I wanted a gun that had light recoil and was light and swung well and I got to hold one and didn’t like it so I got the maxus 2
Why dont you show the magazine cutoff feature of the browning? Thats a pretty nice feature to have in the blind. You can clear the gun without emptying the tube. Then just flip the lever to put one in the chamber
Amazing job man. Loving all your reviews. So thorough and well put together. I'm really enjoying watching you break down each gun and put them against one another. Starting to cut into my fishing video time lol. Keep it up your going to take off with these!
One other test I’d include with auto loaders is to tap the charging handle backwards to simulate hitting a branch or other obstruction while carrying or mounting the gun. Many shotguns will not fire if this happens.
Informative video, but only a few of the areas you covered were relevant to areas serious hunters would want covered. Weight, fit and finish, and functionality with heavier loads were good tests. Over the head shooting, disassembly time, and speed shooting not so much. I'd like to see pattern testing, functionality in extreme weather conditions, and durability of the finish. Good results in those areas would be top selling points to most hunters imo. I would give a first hand review of those areas after my trip out west with my Maxus 2, but we didn't kill shit sooooo.. lol. Overall great video for new shooters though man. Thanks!
Great video and excellent channel! If you make a SBE 3 pattern video your video views will increase significantly. A very controversial subject. I personally own the SBE 3 and love it!
This is a bit odd, I’ve watched a few reviews on here and like them a lot, but do have some criticism. Seems like the maxus 2 trigger has improved, but I’ve viewed other Olin (Winchester/Browning)products on this channel and praising the SX4 trigger. I’ve cross-shopped the SX4 twice in the last yearfor my Wife (compact) and myself (hybrid hunter 3.5” and the browning silver)… trying multiple ones at the shop… they all had wretchedly heavy triggers. (6.8lbs++)… I also owned 2 SXPs that had 7.2 and 7.4lb trigger pulls respectively. I have an ATA Cy (weatherby SA-08) it’s trigger is around 5lbs, nice break. An 870 wingmaster that is 4.4lbs, wonderful. A 1977 browning auto-5 Japan, 4.3lbs A400 is under 5lbs and my wife’s affinity compact is also under 5lbs. Are they sending altered guns because I’ve never handling a modern Winchester/browning that is under 6.5lbs. They seem to be the only major maker with triggers this heavy. I also find it funny that low “take up” is praised on a heavy trigger, then the next bit discusses gloves and the trigger guard size. If you’re using gloves that fill a standard or slightly oversized trigger guard, you aren’t going to feel that “take up” at all in the field. Love the channel, but criticize Olin where they need it, their triggers are by in large substandard, you can help them improve.
When I look at triggers I look at 2 things, weight and feel. As far as weight, I am pretty happy with triggers anywhere from 5-6lbs. I am with you, if it is getting past 6.5lbs, it's too heavy in my opinion. That being said, I have shot guns that have lighter triggers but they feel terrible. I don't like triggers with a high amount pre-travel (amount the trigger moves before it breaks) The SX4 that I tested had a trigger pull weight of 5lbs 3oz and I am happy with that. The Maxus 2 was 5lbs 9oz and I was okay with that. We have had SXPs with very heavy triggers and I always struggled to shoot it well. One of the lighter triggers on guns that I have reviewed was on the Ultima. I liked the weight but didn't care for the feel. I also was shooting it the other night and there is something wrong with the trigger that I have to investigate. Several times I would shoot and it wouldn't reset. It sounds like we have had a little different experience with the guns. I welcome feedback and love to hear what others experience has been. Please also know that what I share isn't gospel, often it is my sharing my opinion. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife hey, really appreciate the comment back. seems like our experience with the SXPs has been similar, but not on the semis. it made me check the travel out a lot closer (really slow pull); turns out my $500 ATA has less travel and slightly cleaner break than my $2k A400. lol i also checked out randy wakeman's channel, his experience with browning/winchester triggers seem to be worse than mine. the one thing that channels like yours and his really promote is gun fit and keeping both eyes open; that's so important to enjoyable shooting experiences. every firearm can likely be nitpicked until the cows come home, but folks should get something that feels natural and mounts/fits well for them. one of my hunting buddy's got a browning silver last year and absolutely loves it, i think the gas system is really similar to the sx4? i agree with you on 3.5" shells, i loathe shooting them. luckily we've got a company here in canada making a commercial 3" 1 1/4 oz steel loading at 1550fps that seems to be the sweet spot. i can't shoot like you or your brother, so i try to decoy birds within 30 yards; it's super satisfying when their wings go into landing mode and their feet drop.
Concerned you keep having feed issues with the Maxus 2. So many owners say the classic “I put 10,000 rounds through this gun and it never missed a beat”. I always find those claims hard to believe as every semi auto I have shot has the odd feed issue here or there. This Maxus seems to have a lot though. Do you think it’s a lube thing, or a speed thing, or just maybe a lemon? For me, reliability is almost more important than anything else. The gun looks great and has great features, but worried it is unreliable.
My dad just bought me the black eagle with real tree waterfowl camo. I am a lefty so I have always used over and unders. I'm so hyped 🤪. I wish there was more time left in the goose season here but it's almost over lol.
It's nice to see how they compare and how fast they shoot but how durable are they? How long do the companies back them up by supplying parts ? I have many products that are working but are obsolete because the companies dont sell parts for them. I have seen several reviews of a gun that you recommended that after a few years the finish came off, rib bends, charging handle falls out , recoil pad falls apart, and stock fills with water if it gets wet ?
haha...expensive for you and me both 😬 I keep asking for suggestion on guns to review and they keep pouring in. Love it, just gotta find a way to keep funding it...lol 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
I run thousands of rounds through SBE3 without cleaning. No jams. Not sure you ever need to clean the bennelli unless you take it into dirty environments.
I’m right eye dominant but I can’t use my right eye cause I’m left handed and I can’t get comfortable on a right handed gun and shot with my left eye but I always use right handed gun and never had any issues with it
There’s a reason the military only use pump actions (Mossberg 500 and 590-a1 and Remington 870 special purpose) and inertia operated (Benelli M-series) shotguns. Reliability. Only reason to use a gas gun is if you’re a child, extremely petite or very old and need a little relief (all GOOD reasons to use a gas gun). But they’re too finicky and stubborn to be worth the price.
I love the reviews and head to heads! Will you do a review on the Weatherby i18 . The one I really want you to do it the chiappa triple crown shotgun!!! I am interested to see!!!!
I would have liked to have seen the SB3 up against the new A5. I had the original Maxus in MODB and loved it but I hated cleaning it. I bought the A5 wicked wing and never looked back. I mean John Moses Browning was the father of modern firearms. Browning is America, Browning is family.
I just got an A5 but not sure when I will be able to get to a review or a showdown. I have a lot of travel for shows and hunts coming up. I will do my best. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife the Lord told 10 years ago that one day I would break clays with my words. I was astonished, and dumbfounded, but it happened about six years ago. My best in sporting clays is a 96, but with Christ I can do much greater things than a 96. ☺️
I live in another country and I'm watching you. I want to ask a question. Which one do you think is more durable and hassle-free in terms of quality and durability? Beretta A400 XP .. SBE3 .. Browning A5 .. Browning maxus. maxus 2.
Gas are supposed to be more reliable, I like gas shotguns cause less recoil for faster on target shots, and to me way more reliable cause the parts last longer. I love my browning maxus 2. I have never had problems with my browning maxus, but I use it for what it's made for and that's duck/goose hunting I shoot steel and steel only out of it
In all your experience shooting the Browning gas system between the SX4s, and now your test guns, did you ever experience spring failures or issues with the rubber o-ring in the piston? I have a Maxus, and wondering what I should keep on hand in terms of spares for years to come (and for piece of mind). Mine has four springs I believe: Spring for the forearm when installed, the heavy piston spring, piston return spring (that is on the mag tube against the received), and bolt return spring. Wondering which springs, if any, should I keep on hand or have even a few on hand. Even, the piston o-ring...not sure how easy that would be to get out and replace however but might be wise to have a few on hand. Any other parts prone to failure? Looks like the Maxus 2 gas system is identical.
I'm very interested in what you're saying at 10:13+ about both eyes open. I've tried literally (not figuratively) for years to learn to open both eyes while shooting at a flying target. I've even worked with a shooting instructor. I'm right handed + right eye dominant, but I cannot for the life of me hit a target with both eyes open. I'll miss every time with both eyes open. With one eye closed, I hit targets more consistently. I wish I could explain it. It goes against what every high level shotgunner teaches.
Ypu just have to figure out how to locate the pattern when both eyes are open. Like where is all that shot going when I look at my target dead on. I blast a big box first to see if it's off the center of my aim. Then at clays that are hanging or in bushes. Finally just get back to clays and I try to lead in a way that will put my pattern to the target
One thing you missed… the maxus 2 doesn’t require you to push in a little (and nearly impossible to depress with gloves on) tab to lock the bolt open, like you need to do with the Benelli. That’s a VERY ANNOYING little step needed to lock the bolt open when you don’t need to on many other shotguns
Hi and thanks for your help with your channel. Im really bad speaking english and sometimes is difficult to understand everything you say xD I want to buy a NEW shotgun and I’m between sx4, Maxus 2 and benelli belmonte 1. Whats your opinión? Thanks again
Never heard of the 300rd warranty, all I'm aware of is the 5 year or 100,000rd gaurentee, also the 3 1/2" A5's say they will reliably shoot 1 1/8oz 2 3/4"- 3 1/2" mags, the 3" models like the hunter model I believe they say shoot reliably 1oz 2 3/4", may be wrong in the 3" models but I am sure if the 3 1/2" models it's 1 1/8oz, I've got one of the all camo models in 3 1/2 and it shoots 1 1/8oz fine but you can tell how far it ejections with them and it's not near as far as say a 1 1/4oz 2 3/4" load or anything 3" or up, greats guns, never had any problems with mine
Love your videos but very biased from the start towards your browning and that's cool it's a great gun but just say it at the beginning. Hard for me to call a winner a gun that didn't cycle. That's the one thing a great shotgun has to do. Keep up the good work
I dropped my SBE3 in a foot of muddy water. when I fished it out, I checked to see if the barrel was obstructed. No. I shot a duck. when I got home there was so mud in the trigger mechanism I don't know how it fired.
Great review! Quick question, I think you've mentioned before that the SX4 and Maxus 2 have very similar shooting components, just curious if you had any thoughts on why the Maxus has cycling issues when shooting over the head and the SX4 doesn't seem to? Thanks Steve!
Maxus 2 was a 3.5" and the SX4 was 3". 3" will always cycle target loads better than 3.5". Thanks for the question. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
The browning comes with shims to adjust LOP and a shotgun costing this much should. The snap in recoil pads from Benelli to get the LOP you want are $100 each so unless it fits you right out of the box you can add $100 to the price. I love my Benelli Montefeltro but Rut Daniels shoots Browning so that must mean Browning is the best lol
@@codytaylor2194 the shims that come with the SBE allow you to adjust drop and cast but not extend LOP. I used the Benelli shims to get my Montefeltro dialed in but I can’t extend LOP without paying big money for another butt pad

There is no easy answer to that. They both make great guns. I just try to cover the guns for what they are and let viewers decide what they want to shoot. Everyone has different opinions.
I currently have the maxus wicked wing and I am thinking of upgrading to the beneli sbe 3 or the maxus 2. I have a huge issue with my maxus with it hitting my face and leaving a bruise with big goose loads. Also, it wont cycle target loads even when clean. Thoughts?
I like both the SBE3 and the Maxus 2. I wasn't a fan of the Maxus 1. The recoil to the face could have more to do with gun fit then the gun itself. What gun are you leaning towards after watching this video?
@@TargetFocusedLife yes I though the bruising could be a fit problem also, so I even fit the gun to me with the shims but it didn't help unfortunately. Leaning towards the super black eagle 3. The cycling with light loads only got worse for me as my gun broke in, and I dont think the gas system has changed in the maxus 2 so I am hesitant to get another maxus. From the research I have done, the sbe should be very reliable which is what I am looking for in my waterfowl gun. I really appreciate the response and the great videos! Keep it up!
@@karstonkutney5154 Go with the SBE3. I have both benelli and browning and the feel of the benelli is so much better. The browning is much thicker and feels like your swinging a 2x4 after shooting the SBE. There is also something about the action of the SBE, it feels like the bolt is riding on glass its really smooth.
need to do real life field test... cold weather, days in the marsh, getting wet and dirty... i know that will take some time. That would be a good video.
The SBE3 and the Maxus 2 both offer 3” models. Would be neat to see if they outperform their big brothers in these tests!
Really glad to hear when someone speaks some sense regarding left handed firearms and shooting. Great job! Wish more people were wise enough to realize this need.
Would be nice if you added pattern/accuracy testing between shotguns from 20 to 40 yards
I think SBEs are the most overrated underperforming shotguns ever made. Nothing but issues with every single one of them I've ever been around.
Great to hear your perspective. Thanks for sharing my man 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Thanks. What specifically?
Also a Benelli guy.. Next showdown should be the SBE vs A5!!!! Inertia vs Browning Recoil !!
The A5 is a man's gun😁the new A5 is a nice gun we just had our season and I still use the original A5 still going strong. We don't get the Browning A5 or other Brownings in NZ.
The new a5 is a inertia action
Love my Maxus II. Way better than an inertia gun IMO. Like it better than the A5
Just pulled the trigger and upgraded from a Remington 1187 to a Beretta a400 xtreme pro.
So the Beretta A400 is the only one to reliably cycle shells over the head. Nice!
Well it was the maxus 2 for me in the uk , the wicked wing was not available here, loving the gun , needed to shorten the L.O.P. By buying a 25mm inflex recoil pad rather than having a gunsmith cut the stock , next purchase will be a couple of Teague extended chokes
Love your reviews !
Finally thank you for testing these guns with 3.5" shells. I am so tired of felt recoil tests being done with field loads. I am off to buy my Browning.
Awesome! Let me know how you like it! 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Time to compare the Super Vinci. One of my faves!
I'm also left eye dominant, one of the reasons why I bought the Winchester SX 4 Lefthanded instead of the Maxus
I've started shooting lefthanded when I was in Basic Training with the German Army back in 2004.
Solid logic my man. Thanks for your feedback 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Agree. The speed test is useless.
Yeah I’m not shooting target load and I’m also not shooting over my head. Thank you
I just learned about the left eye dominant thing when I handed my right handed son a gun to check out and he naturally put it up to his left shoulder, I was super confused at first but he said it felt natural so I didn’t push him to shoot right handed.
Lol. The super black eagle 3 feels so much better in the hand then any of these thick gas guns. A400 and the maxus 2 both feel like I’m swinging a 2x4
Agreed!
Thank you!
Should do a showdown between a benelli SBE3 and a A400 extreme plus
Plus is what I’m leaning towards. Loooking forward to it.
These are the two I want to see compared. I’m looking at getting one or the other
Target Focused Life
I have both (my sb3 is the performance shop waterfowl model) and love both. Whichever one I shoot last I like best lol
Interesting...
Same! Bought my SBE3 in November of ‘21 and no mid bead
Cool video. I think that you should do a review about the benelli ethos then have a showdown between it and the maxus 2.👍👍👍
I am planning a review of the Ethos as we speak but since it is the 28ga version it won't be a great comparison with the Maxus. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)

@@TargetFocusedLife ya steve do the maxus vs A5 please, i am waiting for the review
Why are you forced to shoot righty??
@@Drblood6721 how come you’ve never tried shooting right handed guns lefty?
@@hmongwild Yup, they all seem like nice options. Would be nice to be able to shoot them first. Another one I found is the Fabarm XLR5 Waterfowler.
I like the review but wish there was a pattern test like you did with the maxus 2 and the a400
I was pretty sure which would be the winner before the video started.
@@bentbast have you shot one?
@@bentbast Ok, but is that really saying something bad about the Maxus… or is that more of a statement of how incredible the SX4 is at it’s price point.
It’s entirely possible for the Maxus to be the best shotgun at $2k and also only slightly better than an SX4. Not saying it necessarily is, but that possibility exists.
I’ll also add he’s probably slightly biased towards the Maxus/SX4 lineups because the SX4 is what he shoots in exhibition. You’re obviously going to like what you have the most experience with.
Does your hit poa?
Shoot high?
So the maxus 2 jammed when shooting it from the shoulder, but it shot faster so it was better? I am confused.
Maxus 2 with cera-kote and a 26 inch barrel weighing just 7 pounds unloaded is my choice. Less recoil impulse than the inertia action and more weight forward to keep the barrel moving after you take the shot.
Solid points. Thanks for tuning in Jeffrey 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Just shot 4 rounds of skeet in a down pour with my maxus 2 wicked wing right out of the box with out any issues.

Benelli has it too
Amazing job man. Loving all your reviews. So thorough and well put together. I'm really enjoying watching you break down each gun and put them against one another. Starting to cut into my fishing video time lol. Keep it up your going to take off with these!
Inertia all the way they’re more reliable and waterfowl is hard on the guns so it’s a no brainer sbe3
He had issues with the BEST and the M2 in a video I seen today with reliability
you should do the franchi affinity 3 vs the winchester sx4

Keep up the good work. We love your videos.
Great information. I hope I can shoot as fast as you when I get my Maxus II 3".
A 1977 browning auto-5 Japan, 4.3lbs
A400 is under 5lbs and my wife’s affinity compact is also under 5lbs.
Have the trigger worked on. Randy Wakeman uses a gunsmith and his recommendation is who I would use.
@@TargetFocusedLife hey, really appreciate the comment back. seems like our experience with the SXPs has been similar, but not on the semis. it made me check the travel out a lot closer (really slow pull); turns out my $500 ATA has less travel and slightly cleaner break than my $2k A400. lol
i also checked out randy wakeman's channel, his experience with browning/winchester triggers seem to be worse than mine. the one thing that channels like yours and his really promote is gun fit and keeping both eyes open; that's so important to enjoyable shooting experiences. every firearm can likely be nitpicked until the cows come home, but folks should get something that feels natural and mounts/fits well for them.
one of my hunting buddy's got a browning silver last year and absolutely loves it, i think the gas system is really similar to the sx4?
i agree with you on 3.5" shells, i loathe shooting them. luckily we've got a company here in canada making a commercial 3" 1 1/4 oz steel loading at 1550fps that seems to be the sweet spot. i can't shoot like you or your brother, so i try to decoy birds within 30 yards; it's super satisfying when their wings go into landing mode and their feet drop.
You did not show how they shot while riding a unicycle over you shoulder using a mirror. Until that test we cannot be sure of a real winner. :)
Fair point, I'll do better next time...lol 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
This channel is getting expensive you just sold me on everything I needed to see on the Benelli going to go get one from sportsman’s warehouse!!!
haha...expensive for you and me both 😬 I keep asking for suggestion on guns to review and they keep pouring in.
Very nice review. You should review the Retay shotgun

I would have liked to have seen the SB3 up against the new A5. I had the original Maxus in MODB and loved it but I hated cleaning it. I bought the A5 wicked wing and never looked back. I mean John Moses Browning was the father of modern firearms. Browning is America, Browning is family.

I've owned both of these guns the SB3 wins hands down due to the maxus 2's unreliability. The SBE3 is also softer shooting with target loads.

🍿 Fantastic Video movie 🎥!!!Going to get Browning thank you!!!! How and why would I choose a 26” vs 28”vs 30” ? I’m 6’0 185lbs if that helps.
Barrel length somewhat comes down to preference, for wingshooting I generally go to the 28" 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife awesome thank you! What size would you say for sporting clays with the Maxus II?THANKS!
I am a lefty and it sucks, super limited in what I can get Left handed such as Benelli, Winchester, and Franchi :(
Hi and thanks for your help with your channel. Im really bad speaking english and sometimes is difficult to understand everything you say xD
I want to buy a NEW shotgun and I’m between sx4, Maxus 2 and benelli belmonte 1. Whats your opinión? Thanks again
My SBE3 patterned about 18” above POA at 21 yds
WTF?
Keep up the good work
What's the best shot gun for pheasant hunting?!
I would like to see a shotgun showdown of the maxus and the A5!
I dropped my SBE3 in a foot of muddy water. when I fished it out, I checked to see if the barrel was obstructed. No. I shot a duck. when I got home there was so mud in the trigger mechanism I don't know how it fired.
Always enjoy your videos Steve, good job
Great review! Quick question, I think you've mentioned before that the SX4 and Maxus 2 have very similar shooting components, just curious if you had any thoughts on why the Maxus has cycling issues when shooting over the head and the SX4 doesn't seem to? Thanks Steve!
Maxus 2 was a 3.5" and the SX4 was 3". 3" will always cycle target loads better than 3.5". Thanks for the question. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife ahh that makes sense! Thanks for the response!
I love my benelli but at this price you can’t go wrong they are all great guns
thank you so much
Welcome 😊
The browning comes with shims to adjust LOP and a shotgun costing this much should. The snap in recoil pads from Benelli to get the LOP you want are $100 each so unless it fits you right out of the box you can add $100 to the price.
I love my Benelli Montefeltro but Rut Daniels shoots Browning so that must mean Browning is the best lol
The sbe3 comes with shims bud
@@codytaylor2194 the shims that come with the SBE allow you to adjust drop and cast but not extend LOP. I used the Benelli shims to get my Montefeltro dialed in but I can’t extend LOP without paying big money for another butt pad
@@kenstirling5348 I agree with that bud..but believe it or not my Benelli sbe3 is perfect shoots 50/50 and fits perfectly right out box...call me lucky lol
Nice. I want video BERETTA over under and BENELLI over under please. 😍
I have a Beretta Silver Pigeon 20ga and a Benelli 828U 12ga that I plan on reviewing soon! 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife Okay, I love BENELLI 828U. Can you do a BERETTA 12ga please if you have?
ya deff want to see a maxus2 3" review
Which is better, Browning or Benelli?
@@Nick-sx6jm 👍🏻thanks nick
need to do real life field test... cold weather, days in the marsh, getting wet and dirty... i know that will take some time. That would be a good video.
Manuscript for me also how about maxus 2 vs mossberg sa-12?
