I came here after your 2 interviews with the Filipina Pea. Great info in those interviews. I am glad to subscribe to your channel. Keep up the good work.
Caught your interview on the Filipina Pea's channel, so I subscribed to you for support. Glad things are going well for you over there. I'm married to a Filipina and we have considered retiring there when the time comes, but still not sure. I've been there a number of times and really enjoy it. The people are nice, but just like everywhere else there are good and bad things to consider. Internet, reliability of electricity, property theft, and HORRIBLE TRAFFIC definitely top the list though. Take care and best wishes to you!
Ya this is one reason thailand shines more but it is more expensive but hey who wants to be afraid to leave a rented house for a few days and find out uve been robbed when u get back the scams are everywhere
Thanks Paul for all of your useful information and incites. You have a relaxed style of presentation which is good. If l may make a suggestion for video quality; invest in a small LED light panel to light your face against bright backgrounds, it will help resolve exposure and white balance issues. Keep up the good work, as you are helping a lot of people make informed choices in moving to the Philippines.
I agree with most of what you said. I thought about moving to the Philippines but decided to bring my Filipina to me. Main reasons were Poor Infrastructure, Poor Medical, & Traffic. I love the people and the prices but more importantly, I love that its not over-developed and you can still enjoy so much natural beauty. Hopefully the government there will address the Medical and Infrastructure issues soon.
Good luck to you Doug. I brought my Filipina to Florida and we are married 11 years. My advice would be to always keep your Filipina in the Philippines, but since you brought her home with you just make sure she does not befriend the many Gold Diggers who will be in a hurry to corrupt her.
I have friends who have filipinas here 15 years now. I am familiar with how locals try to corrupt our Filipinas. Even my daughter from the 1st marriage wants to get her hooks in my Filipina. But us old dogs know a thing or two about preserving our happy life. Did I mention I am an old Marine that knows how to say NO in more than one language - lol
I didn't care too much for Duma, we, my Filipina Fiance and I much more preferred Valencia, about 15 mins away..it's much much cooler, more lovely things to see and do there! We plan on living there...

Yes Paul its all true , but like you said its still a great place to be , I have done just about all of S E Asia and the Philippines is number 1 for me .
In MDE cleanliness of streets and walks are excellent. Daily are public curbside trash removal. Daily are public street sweeping. Private owners daily sweep their sidewalk / driveways; and if glazed tiles , then do wet mopping.
Bogota is about 8 degrees Fahrenheit colder than MDE. Normal MDE temperatures is: 62 at 6 AM and 82 degrees at 2 PM all 12 months. Rainfall is moderate intensity, usually only between 1 AM and 5 AM to maintain optimum soil moisture.
One thing I noticed about the arm guards in the Philippines is that they usually waved me past them without a bag search or a pat down. However, their fellow Filipinos were viewed with suspicion.🙂
Appreciate the time and effort invested in posting the video and I can personally relate to much of the content. I also moved here from the US about 4 months ago. My experiences with driving here are much different because while I also own a pickup instead of a scooter I've never even attempted to drive the truck here especially in town. Instead I choose to allow my wife's brother who is a life long resident and has decades of driving experience in Dumaguete handle it instead. I have seen what you've described especially regarding the trike operators but my take is a bit different. Can the decision making especially timing for entering the roadway and how they position themselves be difficult to accept and understand especially from an expat point of view? Most definitely! But at the same time their presence is invaluable in terms of regulating the overall flow and enabling at least an opportunity for merging and navigating through uncontrolled intersections in a more controlled manner on very busy roadways. When I was driving daily in the US before I left I was constantly allowing myself to become aggravated with the blatantly rude and unpredictable nature of a healthy percentage of the other drivers. Up to this point I haven't noticed much if any outrage leading to potentially violent confrontations between drivers like what was happening almost daily in the US. I think we have something in common as far as having had some experience spending time in foreign countries that helps in comparison to anyone who has never left the US. The fact is it's going to be a much different experience and if you think living in another country should be similar to what you are accustomed to in the US you're not going to enjoy yourself very much. That applies to here in the Philippines or while visiting any other foreign country. My wife was born and raised in Dumaguete and when we still lived in the US we used to joke about 'filipino time". The slower pace for living is ingrained in this culture and if you embrace the concept it can actually become more relaxing than constantly being in a hurry and allowing yourself to become anxious and aggravated over the concept of "you are just wasting my precious time". Again I really appreciate your accurate desciptions and effort to help others better understand what it's like living here and happy New Year everyone!

@@PaulWorldZoom Agree with you 100%, the people here are awesome and everyone I meet has been so nice and friendly. I do admit the bank situations aren't great at all and since the vast majority of businesses here are cash based the waiting times in lines at the ATM and in some cases even the availability to withdraw cash out of them can be hit or miss and a very time consuming process. While we do occasionally have brown outs in the barangay we live in on the edge of Dumaguete they don't happen as often as what you are dealing with. I also have had a very good experience with my wifi here at home, it's actually been faster and every bit as reliable (when the power is on) as what I had at my house in Idaho before I moved here. Hopefully at some point I'll get a chance to bump into you when you're out and about because you seem like a person I would appreciate getting to know better and having an opportunity to speak with.
Medical care is best at Chung Hua in Mandaue, and St Luke’s in BGC , Manila. However; it’s rated lower quality of technical equipment and facilities compared with outstanding care in San Vicente hospital adjacent to Medellin airport.
In MDE there are enough congenial helpful public police; and very few private guards at commercial businesses. A MDE bank usually has only one guard with a pistol, and his apparent function is to help guide customers use the banks services.

The English and Visas are easy in the Philippines. Most other things the advantage is Thailand. The government here is good and stable, not so in Thailand. How was that for an answer. So hard to say. I love both

It looks like a gated condo area? peaceful, relaxed, trees. Maybe there are both mango and banana trees to? That reminds me of apartment I rented in Dar es Salaam. For the moment Norway government dont recommend Scandinavians to travel to Dar es Salaam becuase of Quran burnings in Sweden. So I had to look at Asia like in Philippines. I don’t think that is much of a worry here if you stick to certain restaurants and grocery stores. Avoid street food and the wet market until your gut develops some bacteria to fight food illness. Careful of lettuce and unwashed fruit
If you marry a filipina you can apply for the 13A permanent residency visa, with this visa you can live here forever without having to leave the country, this is renewed every few years at minimal cost.
I always took the level of armed guards as a side effect of terrorism and the guerilla warfare of communists during the Marcos years. When I stayed at the Sofitel in Manila I saw numerous "bomb sniffing dogs." I put that in quotes, because they were some of the saddest looking pups I have seen. Also I would not call them "defense level shotguns or assault shotguns." I own nicer firearms in the USA than I have seen in the Philippines. Even if you are correct and it is a deterrent for theft. Labor is so cheap in the Philippines that it is more logical to invest in people than in high tech options. Besides, if you need anything just ask a security guard. They know everything!
Fair question, I actually do like it here. All my other choices would be SE Asia and I can get there from here. People are nice and the weather is normally great. Thanks

If you marry a filipina you can apply for the 13A permanent residency visa, with this visa you can live here forever without having to leave the country, this is renewed every few years at minimal cost.
Please tell me that you do not live in the same building as Gio.
No, I don’t. But I do know where Gio and Phil live. Not far
I have been riding motorcycles all my life and my girlfriend wants to build a trike. I will get a sticker "Student Driver".
They are all over the cars here 😎😎 But the long term drivers are much worse. At least the students look
So very true. I have asked them for directions before. Poor Dogs, probably hot 👍👍
That's where "Gio In The Phillipines" lives
Exactly, very close by. I see Maya sometimes
people here drive by"tradition"
Oh yes, true. Thanks
Wonderful svelte vetted fit girlfriends are excellent guides and participate in morning wake up exercise.
Yes they are! 👍
Why did you leave Thailand? You enjoy the Philippines more?
I do enjoy the Philippines. Got tired of the Thai Government placing more and more burdens on expats. People are great there
@@PaulWorldZoom What burdens are you referring to? Weighing the 2 countries and that could potentially be a deal breaker on one or the other.
Do you have an email for those that want to contact you
Hi yes. david43paul@gmail.com
Thanks so much
Do you happen to have a contact email?
Great videos!
@rog and Bing of Bingalah Travels … Oh yes, thanks … david43paul@gmail.com
Out of all the places you could live, why did you choose Dumaguete?
Fair question, I actually do like it here. All my other choices would be SE Asia and I can get there from here. People are nice and the weather is normally great. Thanks
Are you serious armed guards everywhere in every store
Yes, but it still feels safe. Seriously
Is there lots of armed robberies there in dumuguette😊
No, not at all
thanks for that, yeh figured that wen is saw all the shotguns, glassed fences n barbed wire n dogs lol. ill take precautions.
It looks dangerous but doesn’t feel dangerous if you know what I mean. Thanks for watching
Do you have email or a way to message you privately?
Thanks

Another pervert here in the Philippines that came after a young girl it never ends
What? I don’t understand.
@@PaulWorldZoom Me either?
Wow. How rude?! Somebody might read that comment and think, “Another judgmental American who thinks they can discern other people’s motives and intentions based on one RUclips video.”
Found you today through the Filipino Pea interviews, Paul. Love your perspective and honesty. Please keep making videos!
