Wish we had these little trucks available here in Canada. Looks like it's a lot of fun to drive. My favorite way to eat fish is to add maple syrup and a bit of salt for that perfect sweet and salty ratio. Yummy!!

Your trip reminds me of a trip I took to Mammoth Lakes, California. Same kind of mountain towns to stop in on the way. 4,000ft to 8,000ft elevation. So similar!

Tsumago-juku is wonderful. I've been several times. If you're lucky you can see a recreation of a traditional wedding procession. The bride to be rides a horse, everyone is dressed in kimono and similar clothes, drummers and so on. It's on the old Nakasendo. One of the main roads from Tokyo to Kyoto. People would walk it and so they would need these wonderful towns along the way to have food and a place to eat.
