  • Join me as I walk through the spring spectacle of color and interesting bulbs along the West coast of South Africa.
We go beyond the daisies and ramble up the granite rocks to find botanical oddities and popular South African indigenous plants.

Leon, you really are a great presenter (I see another Attenborough in the making). Your enthusiasm and knowledge is mind blowing. I am an avid plantsman myself with probably the biggest number of cycad species from all over the world in South Africa. Also did a lot of travelling around SA and Swaziland to enjoy plants in situ. We bought 1.5 ha in Britannica Heights Agricultural estates, and plan to semi-retire there. Luckily one is only permitted to develop 2000sqm, so the rest can still thrive naturally. Anyways, I have heard your name mentioned with fellow plantsmen so many times, the Van Rooyens, Troos etc. Hope to meet you one day in person. Fantastic work my friend!

Plants with sticky bits like the Spilene usually stick to birds & animals passing by and this helps to spread the seeds. I really enjoyed the video and so happy to know it was recorded as I could not view it this morning. Thank you.

Thank you, what beauty exists. Yeah, the greed and thoughtlessness of humans is deplorable.
