The public viewing of Elvis’ body was announced on the news. As far as the flowers go, Elvis’ funeral still holds the record today.
Wow that’s Amazing…I remember it was ALOT of flowers 💐 for sure!!
I believe it! I mean the whole lawn of the cemetery was covered on flowers sent from people around the world as well! ❤❤
What record? For flowers at a funeral? Lord have mercy, people are just nuts. 😊
The date in which the most flowers have ever been sold in US in a single day was August 17, 1977. Memphis florists ran out of flowers and had to have flowers shipped in from around the country. The 8 day stretch between September 1 through 8, 1997 was record setting in the UK for Princess Diana. That information is not difficult to find at all.

Look forward to your stories. I remember seeing an interview with the lady that worked at the florist that handled the flowers for Elvis funeral. She had never seen before or since the amount of flowers they handled for his funeral. If I remember right, she commented that it was decided to give the large amount of flowers at the cemetery to the fans & she was at awe the long lines of people standing in line to receive a flower . That is true love 💘
We stood in line and the police officers told us that we were going to be allowed to go in Graceland. I still have my rose I was given the following day.

I just finished that book, Elvis and The Colonel, by Greg McDonald and Marshall Terrill. The story is with Dick Grob and Elvis at a convenient store. Elvis’ gun slides down his sweat pants and when Dick grabs it from the floor and puts on counter, the cashier puts her hands up, but no one was robbing the store. Also in the book, the story about Beatles going to Elvis’s home in Bel Air; Billy and Jo are mentioned as sitting in the room with Elvis.

yep correct, what a ridiculous question to put to the Smith's, the story was nothing to do with Elvis robbing a store.
The one that sent the question in should state why they are asking the questions they ask! Whether they read it and whether they heard it! That's how untrue rumors get started! There's too many untrue things said as it is!

I was there walking in the foyer to pay my respects to Elvis. We got in early because my friend fainted. We were on the front lawn first. The most respectful line of mourners. We could hear a pin drop walking up the driveway. I saw a gorgeous dark haired girl sitting on the stairs when I turned to go out. I think it was you Jo. I was 21 yrs young. Never, ever forget. Saw him in Vegas 71, 73. Love and appreciate you guys. Blessings! I was very sad but at the same time felt he was at peace! ❤

I was one of the people who had the privilege of paying my respect to Elvis. I arrived at 9:00 in the morning and was pushed back by the crowds and did not get through the gates until 3:00 in the afternoon. A very sad day.
QUESTION: Jo, did people recognize you and Pricilla when you were out on the town as you mentioned, when Billy was gone with Elvis, or other times too?
Jo has commented on this before.. sometimes they recognized Priscilla.. great question though.. much love

Wow! Thousands of people through that house when he died. That must have been mentally exhausting. My father in law was a popular man and we had to do two days of his wake 2-4 and 7-9. It was so exhausting! Jo, I'm sure when Billy was away and Marty's wife that must have been so hard. I had two kids and it's hard. Love you all. There was an elderly lady sitting on a chair in a room who made a short video concerning her brother Colonel Parker. Or maybe she said she was his daughter but I'm thinking sister till I find out different. She said with 100% certainty that the Colonel loved Elvis and Elvis loved the Colonel. I believe she was truthful and important enough to her to make that known as fact.
If that’s true, I wonder why Lisa loved Baz Luhrmann’s movie so much. She gung ho supported it saying finally someone made something regarding her father that was right. That film painted Colonel Parker as a total villain who used Elvis.

On the store thing. I believe they may be referring to that day Elvis went to the store and got a Coke and didn’t have no cash and nobody else had any cash either. So the store owner gave it to them. And I believe Billy said Elvis told them to never go anywhere with him without cash. Seen that story on here EFM. Wonder if that’s it? Sharing a though! Maybe? I have no clue! Just an opinion! Thanks!
No actually he was in a store with his Security Dick Grob and his gun slid down his sweat pants and onto the floor Dick bent down to grab it placed it on the counter the cashier it said got nervous Elvis wS lucky as mNy times he dropped those weapons all over the place that he didn't get in serious trouble but when your Elvis you can get away with just about anything I guess as he did

This just my OPINION ON THIS .But a wile back our old friend SG and his shadow T. did a interview here on RUclips with the author of this new book on Col. Parker. What I got out of it was it was pretty much the some ol fairy tail thing that SG has a known history of associating him self with and we ALL ARE WAY TOO FAMILIAR WITH ! I never want these videos to end! I'm so fascinated by Billy's and Jo's memories of some things so long ago. They are extraordinary people! And I'm hoping Billy is feeling much better.

When Elvis passed and the Electric went out. What was the first thing that you and the family did. If I remember it went out late that night around 9:30 or 10:00. I was at a friend's house spending the night. We tried to go to bed that night but we heard alot of traffic from the street. I don't remember what time the lights came back on..we all went outside that night people were honking. Walking everywhere. Did Elvis have a back up jenerater.I know they were not very popular back then. Like they are today.
That is so funny about Elvis wanting to fly up in the sky while there were tornadoes! Had to laugh when Billy said that Milo asked him to talk Elvis out of doing it. Surely the airport personnel would have stopped anyone taking a plane up just for a joy flight in those conditions!!!
