  • The Pacific is one of the most disaster-prone regions in the world. Most of these disasters result from hydro-meteorological events, which are predicted to become more frequent and more intense due to climate change. Pacific Community-SPC have been working to address this through improved understanding and knowledge of flood risk to major catchments, and strengthening flash flood preparedness and response. Over the past two years, SPC have provided technical support to improve the application of existing flood Early Warning Systems that are in place across the Pacific region with a focus on improvements in hydrological data collection and undertaking community engagement. This video provides an overview of the project, demonstrating the engagement and impact across the pilot sites.
