Despite her family’s concerns of her getting hurt, Kate started volunteering as a firefighter in matric because she was interested in the aspect of being in emergency services. She has since developed a passion for helping people without any compensation. Together with her team, Kate responds to motor vehicle accidents, fires and flash floods.
