Thank you, Ashton. njsierra
G'day Ash, I like your presentation. I have flown paragliders for 8 years and have been a truist to free flying......I am now converted! I need to get into PPG. Keep up the good work and look forward to more of your videos. Cheers.
Hello Mr Ashton. Saw a paramotor showing beaches in Koh Phangan in Thailand this evening. Looked so very wonderful. Found you site, part one and part 2. Your instructions are VERY clear, audibly. Thank you so much.
This teacher is really good, I like how he makes the camera man focus in and actually shows the working lines and usage. You really do learn a lot from this guy. I wanted to see part 3 but I don't see it anywhere? Thanks for the great tutorial that actually teaches you something!
Thanks if you have questions feel free to ask we are working on a lot of videos now to start posting this summer. We are working on several parts part three is a warning and some landing techniques but I am not that good at making movies yet so its basic at best.
Ashton, you got 286 thumbs down which for the life of me I can't understand? You've got the best basic instructions I've ever seen and believe me I've seen a lot. I'm self taught from other sites before I found yours here but not specifically from your video and I know you didn't intend for it to be for guys to just kick the tires & haul ass. I can see nothing wrong whatsoever with this video. Maybe 286 people accidentally hit thumbs down when they meant thumbs up?! LOL. Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking. Sometimes I wonder if they've ever tried to produce a video? I have and it is a giant pain in the butt. Anyway, great video Ashton.
Bill Callahan Hi Bill. People do that as competition. I am use to it over the years. Enjoy the sport take your time. Feel free to contact US Paragliding for questions.
Great to see someone putting out some no-hype, no-BS PPG videos. Nice tutorial, great for beginners, and great to see someone who doesn't, how do I say this... have a hidden agenda. :) Fly safe, man.
Great Video! My only comment is that instructor's typically tell you to get into your seat at over 100 feet off the ground when you start training. I know you know this, but newbies might not realize that if you get into your seat as soon as you did in the video that you could be pushed back to the ground in a downdraft and bust a prop. Safe flying and keep making these great videos!
So intense, when I start my lessons I hope I have a tutor as thorough as this, hell I might even travel to US to get taught by this guy, it'd be well worth it when your life is at stake flying these awesome machines. Just goes to show people don't pay attention by asking "wheres the 3rd vid?". There isn't one, opening credits say 1 of 2 parts, the titles are either a typo or a trap to get people looking at the channel, subscribing and viewing more vids, nicely done and excellent video.
After several thousand jumps I got the same way. What keeps you from getting bored is the canopy ride and the ability to just go check things out. 95% of US airspace is class G so that's an awful lot of flying and being able to free fly and motor fly will most likely fix the boring problem. I will say I have never heard about anyone getting bored. Maybe newly married or scared but not bored.
If foot launching is too complicated I would suggest flying a trike or quad. If you have driven a standard car and stopped at a stop sign, working the clutch, and gas so you don't stall or hit the car behind you you can easily fly a PPG. it dose require a little coordination for foot launch and some one who can listen and learn. If my 16 and 18 year old daughters can do it at ages 14 I am sure you can.
When I work with students often I fly their under powered good deals from ebay, and I wait a while to get in the seat. We call it Gumby flying. The 130 has so much juice that as soon as I am off with half power I can easily get out of trouble. But you are right and with students we drill on our flight simulator, use non their non throttle hand to get into seat at about 100 feet or more.
The Velvet is a tuned up Evey from MacPara so its a great free flight glider DHV2. It has a great glide ratio very decisive handling. Most of the time I fly a Spice, and for Reflex I fly a Force SP from Apco. If thermalling I must say the Velvet is hands free its doesn't surge at all even on sharp edge thermals so its a great all rounder.
Hello Rob, Thanks for the complement. We have a new school with four very large training areas near the Austin TX Area. You are more than welcome to come fly with us any time.
An average loaded Mac Para Velvet flies 25-30 mph in no wind and depending on whether trim is in or out. The Fly Products engine manual indicates a run time of 3 hours at p. 24. But, I would guess that actual run time is longer in many circumstances. These figures do vary depending on the weight of the pilot and other conditions.
Being a total novice..... there is more to safe flying than meets the eye. I think lessons in ground handling is essential first. Also having looked at Trikes... it would seem easier on foot that with 3 wheels. Anyone any comments on that?? Hello from Ireland by the way!
I am working on it just moved to a new bigger airfield hanger and trying to catch up on Green Eagle orders first the third video is a close out caring for gliders, picking out equipment, when and when not to fly.
Ash, got a question. Toward the end you adjusted the motor/harness by kind of jumping it up on your back. If you grab the bottom on your cage, you can just lean a bit forward & shove it up there by hand. You may not like doing that because of the toggles etc. in your hand but I thought I'd mention it anyway. It works great for me and really gets the stuff on my back up higher like I prefer it.
We train in foot launching various equipment but you are right wheel launch is pretty easy and in many comparisons safer. Learning to control the glider is most important flying is a byproduct. This next year I should have time to do more videos.
I believe if you look up Walker Jet its pretty much the same. But you got to give him an A for being able to sell the same engines we do at 2k more. Our Propulse 185 sells fro 2 K less. I believe he is the king of Hype. I have never met him only looked up his name and an interesting back ground.
i can also compare it to diving, under water rugby and motorcross. both of them was fun for the first few times. if i lived on top of a mountain i would defiantly purchased a paraglider. but the fact is i live in the city, and have to drive for an hour and walk for two just to get there, so im thinking is it worth it?
How many lessons are needed to convert from para to ppg. I have around a 100 hours of flying in mainly strong conditions. with anything to 10 ms up to landing at 9 meters a second down. Great to be alive. I would stick with the ps 2. You need passion and years of practice and knowledge to appreciate and respect mother nature. Good instruction. Can I self teach on ppg. What do you think. Thank you for your time. Frank Manning, Kilkenny Ireland. Ihpa member.

We have added two new tandem craft at US Paragliding’s facility at Sunrise Beach airfield Hanger 18 Lake LBJ. Come fly the Hill country outside of Austin Texas. Fly your first intro lesson, then decide if you want to move forward into the sport. Teaching Paragliding since 2004. Come ride the sky.
I am thinking about purchasing a paramotor and wing. I have heard so much about the flat top and the K2 kite. I was looking at the Fresh Breeze also but it has the gas tank ontop of the motor. In your opinion, what should a new person to the sport purchase. I'm 66 years old but should have no problem foot launching. Any tips you can give would help Thanks in advance
part three is coming I moved to a larger hanger and new airfield at Lake LBJ been busy setting up a nice training center. Part three is wing maintenance wing types and how to shop for gear. Good deals and bad ones.
I don't even understand how you could ever get bored FLYING we've all played video games, we've all driven cars. i guarantee not all of us have flowen in any form.
Hello Ashton, I will be pursuing paragliding in the near future, but cannot decide what would route would be best/ most safe. Ultimately, I plan to do PPG. However, Should I first learn free flight on a paragliding wing, before strapping on a motor, or would jumping straight to powered flight be a non-issue? Based upon your experience, what is your input? thanks
I believe PPG is safer as you are not searching out thermals for lift or launching from unsafe sites. Your thermal is on your back allowing for you to fly in more stable conditions such as early morning and late evening flight. However free flying will make you a better pilot as you learn to read your environment which many PPG 'ers take for granted. I learned free flight first then PPG but back then PPGs sucked now they are lighter stronger and more reliable and much lower cost. Feel free to view our new training info at USParagliding.com or call me any time for questions. Fly Safe
Hi ashton i am looking into a unit but before i buy it i wanted to ask you hlw to i get a license to fly this is there a training school or something also i think i should tell you that i live in canada thanks
Hi Sam feel free to contact USParagliding and time or FlyGreenEagle. The ministry of transportation in Canada is aware of our school and you can purchase and learn from us get your serial numbers from the MTC of Canada and we will give you your cert and or you can take a test once flying. Learn everything you need here at a lower cost.
Richard furlong This unit is the heaviest one we have. It’s more for tandem and long flights. Full up with four gallons of gas and battery for electric start it can hit 72 pounds. Our titanium frame with Vitorazi 185 is 48 to 50 depending on harness. Same unit with an atom 80 is 38 pounds. I am a big guy so I need at least a 185.
For good, new gear, you're looking at about $5,000 - $8,000 for the motor, $2,500 - $4,000 for the wing, and $1,000 - $2,000 for the training. I got everything for about $8,000 but I shopped around a lot and put most of it together. I also bought a used wing. :-)
The Glider that has taken over from this one is the Charger or the Dudek Universal. Gliders run arround 3k for certified. Back pack units go from 6400 to 7500. Some go for more. Email us at sales@greeneagle.com and we will send our current training syllabus and pictures of various craft. We provide housing on location at our field see in syllabus.
Ha ha good one. Nope we are just finalizing it after our move. we got video of our flying area from 9,000 feet and relocating put me way behind in production. but it was worth it.
Nizar NN Part three is coming soon. I had my main hard drive crash and have had to time to re-shoot. its title is "how to pick an instructor"feel free to contact Green Eagle or USParagliding any time for questions. Ashton B
Most good packages meaning a certified NON Chinese gliders and a real Italian engine. We sell the Pro-pulse Vittorazi 185 Moster for 7600 with glider. Then you would add up to 1,000 for nicer gliders such as reflex. Usually a 1,000 for the larger mini 2 plus electric start. Fly Safe Ashton B
Part 3 is on hold for good weather and someone who can film me not my foot for landing tricks with and without power and spot landing tips. Best way is to come for training. Fly Safe USParagliding . com
Hey John, you are right about the driving part. In the air you are not dealing with 25% uninsured, in a hurry, talking on a cell phone drivers. Its not that difficult but good training is a must. See our trainig syllabus at USParaglidng . com the sites being updated, you can down load our syllabus or contact me and I will email you the latest info. Call us for info we train at Lake LBJ free lodging and and airfield access. 210-724-5086 Ashton B
See posting right below were I answered that. My lay out was good I had a good wind target and launch was straight so no need to pump glider except small pump to keep from overshooting. Feel free to contact us at US Paragliding or Green Eagle any time for questions. Ride the Sky Ashton B
Feel free to call any time for counsel, The sport has gotten so much better and lower cost for even Italian made engines which I usually recommend. I am 215Killo's and 6 foot 3" and I have flown 100cc engines with the right glider. I fly the ProPulse package with large ITV Boxer most of the time as its my biggest seller with a 185 Monster at Vittorazi It comes with weight shift harness and stainless J bars that are tandem capable.for 5600.00 that's Italian engineering at low cost 2107245086
Hi Steve, yes we have an ebay store under apogeepowersports search ebay for that and we sell various units to include the Green Eagle. Our USParagliding site has it too but we do not take money over the net except pay pal via ebay. we usually want to talk to customers find out what their goals are their may be different alternatives and specials going on for now we offer free shipping anywhere in the USA. 210-724-5086 we also offer free lodging at our airfield for new students.
Yes you can as in many cases we fly heavy on a glider when using power and 75% of plaquart Kilo for free flight. Feel free to email us any time at our website or call 210-724508six fly safe
Our classes are held at several airfield but our home field is Sunrise Beach Airfield at lake LBJ that's were our free lodging is. Email me any time at ashtonb32@yahoo.com and I will send our training syllabus.

how long have you owned a paraglider?

it isn't complicated at all.... you just need training and experience. It's literally one of the simplest and most rewarding ways to fly.

Ashton, you say you’re a “big guy”, what do you weigh?
about how much do you think a good motor and sail would cost?
For good, new gear, you're looking at about $5,000 - $8,000 for the motor, $2,500 - $4,000 for the wing, and $1,000 - $2,000 for the training. I got everything for about $8,000 but I shopped around a lot and put most of it together. I also bought a used wing. :-)

We have sold a lot of Equipment to Canadians. but you get your serial number form the candida transportation authority. If you get training form USParagliding we are recognized. . We train you, fill out your forms and you can get your LC in Canada. We have done so since 2005. Email us at sales@greeneagle.com and we will send our current training syllabus and pictures of various craft. We provide housing on location at our field see in syllabus.
If you are physically able to foot launch you should. Less weight = better climb rate...
where U out of?

How about 3 years later?
Velvet is EN D which would be a DHV2/3 equivalent.
Is it then considered The Velvet Underground?😁
Its one of my favorite Mac Para Gliders out side my Apco Force SP. The Velvet is also a great free flight wing.
Third video is wing maintenance and Techniques. Q and A but not finished yet I am moving to bigger airfield and hanger.
No you wont drop the glider it is hooked into your harness via Caribiners. In hand kiting you may drop the glider by choice
Thanks Ashton
how to get permission from ATC ....
wheres part 3?
Most good packages meaning a certified NON Chinese gliders and a real Italian engine. We sell the Pro-pulse Vittorazi 185 Moster for 7600 with glider. Then you would add up to 1,000 for nicer gliders such as reflex. Usually a 1,000 for the larger mini 2 plus electric start. Fly Safe Ashton B

210-724-5086 Ashton B
you said something about exaggerated pump...but we saw nothing like that!
