The color on this Sunroof Bug is perhaps my favorite color ever offered on a classic Volkswagen: L380 Turquoise. Amazingly the turquoise on the interior of the car is original paint! The dash face, the inside of the doors, and the area above the windshield are in the same beautifully applied coat of paint sprayed at the factory way back in February of 1962.
The exterior paint is very nice. All of the glass was removed when the exterior of this bug was painted for a very thorough job. New window rubber, new door rubber, new fender beading and new turn signal rubber were all installed during reassembly. This was a thorough restoration and the end result is the great-looking sunroof Beetle.

The beautiful sound of the engine followed by the sweet whistle of the pea shooters sends chills down my spine
I liked the sound; from the birds to the whistle of the exhaust. I had been looking for one where I could hear that. In many of these videos, you cannot hear it. It's one of the things I miss most about mine. Choked me up in a happy way.

i had a '61 rag top. my first car.
With the exception of the body color and the amber lens in the rear lamps this was exactly the same as my first car ever… I had a blue 1962 ragtop beetle.
My first car was a '74 Beetle. I LOVED it and it led me to many great things (like my career selling classic cars!). You meet many nice people who come up to you and share their fun-filled stories every time you drive a classic VW. I have a really nice '64 Beetle for sale in the same color available now. Those cars you could run them to the ground and they keep going I had a 1962 Volkswagen beetle in Red no radio just hate and vented windows went all over the US with it the only problem was you had to have fan belts with you they broke on and off they only took 5 minutes to put on I carried three of them in a car 🇩🇪💯👍
@Patsbug66 Yeah it's a good design and it doesn't leak. The handle pulls the rag top tight against the roof when closing. And the ragtop is larger than the opening in the roof so no water gets in! Good luck finding the right car. I would definitely recommend a ragtop!
Would an old beetle be good for a first car choice? I've wanted one my entire life and am turning 16 this fall. Good or bad decision?

@Paul Isbell, it would be te best decision of your life. I own two classic beetles both are pre '65. One is convertible and the other is a rag top. They both run under the same classic car insurance policy as their on a joint account. They've never ever let me down. Not even once, best cars I've ever driven in whatever condition. Snow is not an exemption as they handle really well
I'm going to be buying one soon and would prefer a Rag top, but does it hold up in the rain?
Just curious. With the top open like that how windy does it get inside? Is it really noisy? Will I be able to talk to my wife if we're cruising down the road with the top open?

When y. drive a"Beetle" y. feel like driving a (Love in the air) don't turn the radio on just litten the "Motor"! Not if you don't know how to work on cars. You should have a little bit of car knowledge too own and maintain a older car. Probably not if you live somewhere where it snows either lol.
