I'm recognizing a couple Red Garland quotes: #11 is from 2:03 on If I Were A Bell from Red Garland's piano #12 is from 1:52 from the same track # 10 is from 0:47 on Almost Like Being in Love from the same record And with the left hand style to match!
#7 is interesting because there’s ii/V in Gb (a half step up from F, the key she’s been playing in) and then back down to a ii/V/I in F. Then, at #9, the right hand implies melodic minor with the arpeggio. She moves on to the enclosure, then finishes off the licc with an outline of a C7b9 chord resolving to Fmaj7. Nice! Then we have #20. Phew... starts off with an ascending pattern outlining a Gminsus7(b13) and then a C7#9(add4). We move back down with the same pattern until the F maj7, which she dances around. She starts off with Lydian (using G pentatonic), then F pentatonic, and then this quartal movement in Gb pentatonic with an E for chromaticism. That brings us down to a descending chromatic line to Bb, which sets up the next ii/V in a very left handed sort of way. That’s some serious stuff.
Well… on #20, the first two measures are actually the same F7(sus) over both the g-7 and C7. Actually, the e natural in the last measure really isn’t chromatic either since that would be the 7th of the Gb/F#7 (tritone sub of C7).
Lou Is I mean all this comment does is show how you know nothing about the purpose of jazz. Imagine thinking there’s only one way to say something in a language.
#6 and #10 are basically direct quotes from the melody of Things Ain’t What They Used To Be. Look it up it’s cool. And also someone else mentioned how Red Garland used the #10 lick.

Awesome , wonderful , Thanks a million for sharing , I am a bebop fan of Charlie parker , I have now enough licks to play " Scrapple for the apple" my favorite tune .
Nice licks! Just a little suggestion, if you are going to use contiguous ii-V or play outside, you might want to write the chords out. People might be confused what chords they should play on the left hand. Thanks!
@@RockSpoon123 I really don't understand the "you do it then" argument. Because it isn't an argument. She's a really talented pianist but this video alone won't prove that.
Thank you very much for the wonderful video. very good exercises. I would like more such exercises in this style. could you use piano roll it helps a lot. Thanks again for the great video .. and all the best to you.
What is the music theory foundation for all the rhythmic touches she plays in between the licks? She does ii-V-I (Gm7-C7-Fmaj7) for the licks but then switches to some other chord for the flashy finishes. For example, for #1, it looks like she's playing something in D (at around the 0:40 mark). I suppose you can play almost anything after a I chord. Anyone? I'm also trying to come up with my own.
It's D7. It's the dominant seventh of g minor so it just creates a cycle returning to the G minor which is the start of the 251 in F Major. You could also use D7 flat 9 or #9 here or D Major 7 +5 flat 9, or #9. I haven't really listened to what she does precisely but all work well and I'd imagine that she uses a variety of these.

For the people that doesn't recognise the song in the intro, it's "tea for two". I recommend the Oscar Peterson version. It's cool

yes we understand. you have knowledge of music , you are not alone pal. keep it to yourself though will you mate?

And the e sus major is quite amazing but it is trigonometric in its own right when considering the extreme ties of chromatic and resolving to Fmaj.
