  • It can be costly to keep vibration analyzers and vibration meters calibrated and available for use in your plant. Because of long turnaround times for factory calibration, some plants even choose to own backup analyzers. Save both time and money by calibrating Emerson CSI 2130 Vibration Analyzers in-house with a Portable Vibration Calibrator from The Modal Shop.

It is recommended to calibrate at smaller amplitudes?

The ISO 16063-21 standard for the calibration of piezoelectric accelerometers does not specify that transducers should be calibrated at low amplitudes. As for the analyzer, we are not aware of any standards that provide guidance regarding the amplitudes at which they should be calibrated. Calibrating at low amplitudes would ensure that the analyzer is measuring real vibration input rather than the noise floor of the system. Shaker limitations may force lower amplitudes to be used. For example, portable shakers cannot generate significant velocity at higher frequencies and cannot generate significant acceleration at lower frequencies. Using a shaker with more stroke that is perhaps not “portable” would potentially give the user more amplitude in all vibration scales.

    Dear Sir,
For the linearity amplitude, Why not use the flat top window?

Thanks so much for watching Winai! Yes, flat top would have been better for amplitude linearity.

@@TheModalShop Thank you for your answer. In my opinion, I think that amplitude verification must be used in a Flat-top window because it has excellent accuracy for amplitude but if you verify the frequency, you can use the Hanning window.

is this procedure usefl for 2140 series???

Yes, the same procedure can be used for the Emerson 2140. Often that analyzer is supplied with a tri-axial accelerometer which has a round housing. The Z axis (vertical axis) is easy to calibrate. But the X and Y axes are more difficult because the sensor is round. Nonetheless we have found that orienting the sensor on its side and gluing it to a flat plate for calibration works very well. The sensor produces excellent results.
