A moon is a moon. You can’t just say it’s only a half.
Well Mario"smash" ProtonZap hear me out.
Mariosmash ProtonZap A Moon grab actually has three parts to it.
1.When the Moon is touched.
2.When the Jingle plays.
3.And When Mario finishes the animation.
And together they form one complete Moon grab.
Now usually it is the touching that's useful because that is the only part that allows Mario to collect the Moon.

EDIT: This is just the Assist Mode doing its normal thing, leaving this here for others that don't know about the bubble being in Assist Mode.

No, the bubble activates whenever you hit the death plain, but since they didn't expect anyone to die as a letter it just kind of hops around until you pop out of it and hit the death plain

This sidequest is meant for people to give up on themselves and use a glitch method.. honestly, I somehow managed to get 71 by jumping by accident and can only do about 50 on my own normally... this is one of the most unfair and frustration moons in the whole game.

Nintendo could easily fix all of the jump-rope glitches by making Mario’s idle animation cancel the challenge.

You could still make a script that will tell mario to jump every time the score counter changes
that won't fix it her since you're standing on top of the letters and you can just lightly tap the control stick just before Mario lays down or tap the crotch buttons.
The fact that the glitch is still in the game is so OP.
It's too powerful to be patched.

Took me a while, but in a while I finally did it. I did this for the moon not for the leader board, and after what is soon to be a year it still works. Best of luck to you and appreciation to the people who did it legit.

As of 8/26/2019 this still works. The one note I would say is to try and get any letter "out of bounds". I used the letter M as I couldn't get the R to leave the area, I got the M to leave the area and then followed the remainder of the video. Thanks!! Hope this helps someone else!

I know this glitch and used it but i wont use it to get loads of jumps i only want 100 and that what i got with this
took a few attempts but done it fantastic thanks for the glitch share :D
You can also prop up the scooter against the M or most slope and get back on it. By then jumping with the scooter you can achieve the fabled moon jump!

This works like a charm. Took a few tries to glitch the R out of the area it's not supposed to leave but thanks to the person who figured this out!!! Worst moon to collect in the whole game, this makes it not so bad!

Welcome to 2022! I am proud to say it still works. Probably because they aren’t working on it anymore :( but I now have to wait 8-9 days to get to 99,999
To those who are having trouble getting the scooter to attach itself to the side of the M, here is what I did. Line the letters up as shown in the video, then line up the I and O next to the A, so that it creates a "wall" that runs parallel to the M, and extends just slightly past it. Drive the scooter towards the wall side of the M, and the scooter will mount itself to the M automatically, no jumping required. I tried for hours to do this glitch by jumping the scooter onto the M, but once I used this method, I was successful on the very first try! After that, it only took me 2 attempts to break the R free. I did this yesterday- June 6- so the glitch had not been patched as of that time.
