I have last year's T2 and was very impressed how it stood up to strong winds in Cornwall when Hurricane Helen hit last September with 4 storm straps . If you come from your roll out you will leave a 70mm gap down the side that can cause wind issues but I found opening the doors at both ends of the corridor let's the wind go through . Agree about the flap on the entrance as you can forget to make sure it is lifted to stop the rain water getting in as one morning we found a pond in the awning . I also have a OR 420 Esprit pro Caravan awning that I use if we take the trailer and car and caravan in the motorhome that is fixed by a 5m awning track bonded to the side of the motor home under the roll out cassette .
Very informative Bob, Jenny. We sold our old awning too & recently bought an Isabella Ventura Air Vivo drive away from Spinney not used it as yet, we also bought the sepearate sun/rain porch canopy exstension at the recent NEC show at a great price too. The awning has impressive quality but a tad pricey & it's rather heavy when packed.
We bought a cheap drive away from there about £126 cheap for an awning i noticed it on our way out ,but wow we have used it loads of times for how we want to use it as a bedroom , it has 2 big side windows but we don't need to drive away so it's great for 3 kids & me as sleeping with all the kit , it's one of the best buy's we have ever found , we have it on our other side of the van so no door to interrupt us as we have a pull out on our van any way but being a 2 berth motor home you can't accommodate all grandkids ..lol & like looking at other vans when there as well
Found it Thanks Bob and Jenny Very informative video Will be making a visit to Todd le in October when we back in the uk Keep the great videos coming Best regards
Thats funny, Just been looking at them before i clicked on RUclips and saw your film, Looking for a Kampa Motor Ace 400XL and annex which we plan to use as sleeping area for guests.
WE loved your presentation and harmony relationship between your husband and you. We live in Green Valley, Arizona USA,please give details if you still have your "experienced tent", don't wait as we have an older .Class C motorhome
Good choice, enjoy the new awning :) we need driveaways because of our short rail height but most are far too wide so I’ve no idea how they are supposed to fit on pitches and still get the rear corner of the main unit aligned with the all important CMHC site peg. I’ve just finished modding a 2018 T3 vario and can confirm that the inflatable ceiling pole is an utter pain and is rarely satisfactorily aligned; the simple single pole for the 2019 version looks much tidier :)
We have a Vango Kella 3, which we only put up a couple of times, we rarely stay long at one site, or need the extra space. If wet and windy, would give some protection to the doorway. First time put it up, found it difficult to get the pegs in for the groundsheet under the van, so sound it easier to set up, drive in and connect. Still not got the hang of getting the connection piece looking right. Would like to get the carpet, don't use it enough to warrant it at the moment. Didn't bother with the rooms, no plans fir anyone to sleep in it yet. The air awning are however easy to set up and there are some good UTube videos of how to do it. There is a challenge for you Bob, to video putting yours up for the first time with your wife reading the instructions. Maybe we should get you to do it blindfolded ... now that would d be good entertainment!
Not sure I'll need to do it blindfolded though. Filming and putting it up at the same time will be enough if a challenge! Good tip about setting up and driving in.
Bet that poor man standing by the ist awning you looked at must get tired after a days work😂😂 Don't mention safari rooms 🙈🙉🙊.....many a broken back ,nervous breakdowns, and losing the will to live was experienced during the setting up x putting away of said room .😨 All in the name of a bit if xtra space to store even more junk in ! Great vlog ,glad you got sorted 👍👌a good purchase their .
Bob what's a good quality drive away awning for a small Peugeot ( sliding doors) at the side, open doors at back? Please need a good stockists either in Surrey or North London.( Herts). does
You could look at the Movelite T1 or T2 in lowline, both start at 180cm. They also do one the fits on the back doors, a T1 Tail. Not sure about stockists around North London, but there's PJ Outdoors in St Albans. Have a look on www.outdoor-revolution.com
hi bob i was just checking some old videos for some info on drive away awnings and found one of yours where you bought a new one ,,did you sell your old one ? if not i would be interested if its still garage ,,,thanks ,,,rob
Bob I can appreciate the use of an awning if you are staying on the site for a while. However, do you ever drive away and leave it or are you more likely to use the Up. We have a pop up Quest and find that we don't need to worry about getting the van back in the exact position again. Easy to put up and can take a table and chairs + weather proof roof but, we only have the mesh sides and haven't bought the "solid sides" yet. Looking forward to Harrogate it's our first time there. 😎
We will use the drive away even if we take the car, simply because it's easier to put up than the safari room, but only if we're staying 3 or more nights.
Hi Bob & Jenny Watching your video on drive away awnings, picking up on your comment saying that you take up less room on a pitch. We have just bought one sorry a Vango Galli ll compact.went to a caravan and motorhome site were the warden said we was a little on the big size on the pitch. The main awning is 3.2 and the hall area is 1.2 and then our van at 2.1.what would you have said? Regards Mark.
Thank you, it's a Swift Bolero 714SB, there's several videos about it on here if you're interested. See here: ruclips.net/p/PLUi3rqw12j2oaacwF_3OZHEvv0PAwrvLI

Like the lights, need to put them on my Amazon wish list.
Can’t wait for the video showing how you re attach the awning after returning from a day out. I have always wondered how easy it is.
I enjoy these little trips to Todd's when you're not touring. Thanks.
So do I!

If Vango did a medium height, it might of have fitted better on my Chausson.
Still looking for tips to make the joining bit fit better.
Not sure I'll need to do it blindfolded though. Filming and putting it up at the same time will be enough if a challenge! Good tip about setting up and driving in.

Think the Travel Trolls bought a Vango, they do look at little on the wide side.
Still catching up
I like your van, what type is it please?

Thanks for the reply Bob, when are you coming down under?
@@hankcuccina5260 I wish, we wouldn't want to leave Poppy for weeks. One day, maybe.
The Rechargable Lights are available via Amazon amzn.to/2VIzIne
Four mins is where the actual awning part starts.
Forget the foreplay then? 😁
Bob Earnshaw just if someone is short of time like me lol
You should have a contact at RUclips, accounts manager?, contact him/her and voice your concerns.
Think you only get an account manager with 100k subs.

Thanks, yes, they could be set up stand alone. Think a normal tent would be better though.
