I'd just take the brasses, then dip, and ditch the table.

Disagree with this appraisor. The French adored acertain type of 'dovetailing' specifically valuable are those pieces done by the "The Butterfly Man" of New Orleans. In all her glory this piece was probably a leftover from an Estate in New Orleans with a tumultuous settlement and sadly just left behind & tumbled around in unknowing hands. Civil War upchucked much wealth & its finery. Once cherished pieces falling through the air of non French drudging into Louisiana from Kentucky & wherenot. The piece should be very finely sanded in her roughest spots and the finery of her pulls polished with brass polish and buffed to return her beauty. If it is really Cypress the scent will be revealed as she is lightly sanded. The pulls might have been removed & placed on this piece. I don't feel her 'Frenchness.'. The French detested nails. ⚜️
