Smoking on an Oliva V Melano Maduro, sipping on some freshly ground Sumatra coffee, and watching you with your masterful craftsmanship. This is the life. Wonderful video, music, and smoking a great cigar bro. Thank you for this....
Oliva V is one of my favorites... This comment is perfect. I have literally imagined someone doing exactly what you are talking about, as I myself love watching cigar videos, sipping on some good coffee and smoking a cigar. Thanks so much for the positive feedback! I tried really hard to paint a story with this video, as cigars are one of my main passions. I pinned this comment, I hope you dont mind! Keep putting smoke in the air buddy, and have a great year!
@@DraysWorkshop Thanx my brother in cigars. Peace to you...
Having some fine whisky and enjoying my cuban stick. Chill.
@@xiaohanzhou5341 sounds like an amazing time to me my friend! Thanks for the comment
That's my favorite cigar, happy tasting!
Love the video. I was born in Cuba, my family is from Spain and I became a free man in Florida. Smoking a good cigar and drinking Cuban coffee " a colada" is like time-traveling for me. Only a few people will understand what it feels like.
Blessings my brother! 🙏
This is one of the most informative and satisfying videos I have ever watched. Thank you for doing this. I really loved the small voice overs about what it's like to smoke a cigar.
Love the sound over about the guys grandfather. Some of my best thoughts/ideas come while smoking a stogie. Really resonated with me.
I’m the same way Sean. I love the care and sentimental messages. Always makes things more meaningful to me! Thanks for the comment
That's Rey Lewis from the NFL
Ray Lewis on cigar aficionado
This was what RUclips was made for . Great video
Thank you Wade! I truly appreciate it and I am so glad you enjoyed it!
Clearly RUclips has brought us down the same cigar video rabbit hole, I recognized nearly every interview you had in the background. Great video, cheers!
Great to hear that someone else is into it like I am. Love watching interviews and stories about the cigar world! Thanks L.
My favorite time to smoke is a nice summer day in my woodshop while I contemplate the work I want to do.
I love that too my friend. It just isn’t the same when it’s cold outside, and I’m pretty sure a cigar gets my creative juices flowing a little sooner 😊. I’m from the south and we don’t mess around with that cold too much. I see a lot of guys smoking outside in the snow and I ain’t about it 😆. Thanks for the comment and I hope you enjoyed the video
@@DraysWorkshop no, the cold is definitely not good for a cigar! Thankfully I have a heated garage I can smoke in, but I’d prefer the wood shop
Wow that is an absolutely amazing job... That is what all cigar storing Furniture should look like..... It should be a piece of furniture that is passed on and that's exactly what he Turn this into....
Thank you so much jrios!
Loved the voiceovers from brothers of the leaf, and the phenomenal job above all! I can see the passion. Great mate! I hope to build one as good as yours when I get my own garage shop working
thumbs up for the nail gun on beat lol.
Surprisingly you are the first person to comment about that. I tried hard to sync that up lol! Thanks for the comment Aviation!
I used food grade butcher block oil and finish wax. Takes a bit more time for wax to cure but the result is a water tight food grade wax sealer behind cedar veneer.
Thats a good idea! I actually make cutting boards, and coasters but didn't think about that. Sometimes I just get my mind on something and cannot sway from it LOL. Thanks for the comment. I am sure most could find this helpful, and it is always good to have a different perspective on things! Have a great day, and sorry for the late response.
One of the best videos to date! Very skilled and the story line was epic!
Well done, brother.
Man that means so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I really wanted to add some more of a story to it. Thanks for the comment and watching!
@@DraysWorkshop Do you have any Humidity leakage?
I just found a stand alone wooden cabinet i want to make into a humidor! This was nice to see and i wish you were in the neighborhood to invite over for help, a drink, & smoke! Lol thanks for the video
Great use for that old out dated china cabinet many people would have just sold it, but much like a man in the arms of a loving woman or tobacco leaves in the hands of the right person, everything can become something better when loved and appreciated for what it has to offer instead of being burned, sold or thrown out
Couldn't agree more! I believe everything has a story to tell. I restore old machinery, handtools, etc. I always wondering while I am restoring them how many TRUE men have used this tool, and I wonder what they made with them. The blood, sweat, and tears they put out making things! Thats what it is about for me. Glad you enjoyed the video Nocha Gradpa, and I love that name LOL
This is sick. Great workmanship and dope soundtrack. Really envious.
Thanks Greg! So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment my friend!
He definitely did a good job retrofitting the china cabinet to a humidor. Well done
Thanks David! It was pretty fun figuring everything out!
Beautifully made cabinet, and wonderfully made video! I really loved the voice overlays from the cigar community!
Thanks Jacob! That's really what I wanted out of this video, as I know most people watching this have probably seen many of the videos with all the voices I used!
Just picked up the grad father clock at the hood will I’m afraid to take the back off but I definitely have to find wood now
Thank you ... it time to go have a cigar! I wish I had your skills in woodworking, well done!
Thank you for the comment! Go ahead and have a cigar buddy, and I will have one with you! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the compliment!
Wow. Amazing video and the included passion in the audio only bolstered the video!
Thanks Spushed. I really thought it added that extra bit the video needed! Thanks for the comment!
Excellent vision and workmanship, bravo!

This was a masterpiece in more ways than one.👍🏽
Thank you brother! You have know idea how good it feels to hear this! This video has been a huge hit on the channel, and so glad you guys are enjoying it!
This was great. Thought today about converting an old Hutch into a Humidor. Said to myself "I bet someone on RUclips has done it". And here I am. Awesome job.
Haha, man that is literally what I think about most things. I think you should do it! Glad you enjoyed and thank you for the compliment! If you have any questions while building it let me know!

First of all, really great video, secondly you created a masterpiece
Hey Stelios! Thanks for the comment, and the compliment! I tried really hard to make something I would be happy with! Hope everything is going good buddy
Love the results. Great editing on the video....

Great case Great video Great inspirational theme Great cigars to smoke real nice video dude
Nice job, love the Humi you made. always wanted to try and do one myself. The commentary you added with the story of the Grandfather was excellent.
Hey Mike! Thanks for the compliment! That was one of my favorite stories when I was researching Audio for commentary. I feel like it really ties in the meanings and why we smoke cigars!
Oh my! that was the voice of Mr. Sahakian Sr.

You did an amazing job. I have been wanting to do the same but held myself back. After watching you do it I think I am ready. Going to help me out. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome Felipe! I know the feeling. It took me a while to actually get the wood, and start doing it. I bet I redid the design a few times lol. It can be nerve racking but you just gotta start. Once you get going, you will get it the groove! Glad I could help and thank you for the compliment! I am pretty happy with it! If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask!
I've been watching so many videos involving Davidoff of London I immediately recognized Eddie's voice in that clip, haha! I may have a problem!
Hey Ben! In my opinion, if you are talking about cigars, there is no one better to listen to than Eddie and his son!
Very beautiful job
Great job....I’ve done a few of these.....make sure you use non-toxic sealer

Awesome job on the humidor!! You gave me inspiration for mine. Great vid, I enjoyed the voiceovers
Hey Mike, glad you enjoyed brother! I am always glad to hear that this video inspired others. The task can be a little daunting at first but once you get going you will find your groove! I love the voicovers too, felt like it added that extra feeling to the video! Have a great day buddy!

That's awesome !!
Great video ! Too much for my skills and knowledge lol . Keep puffing brother 🙏🏼 💨
Man thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed! But I believe in you my friend, give it a shot!
What about the temprature if the summer for example goes very hight ?
What are you going to do?
Grate job my frient !
So it is just like any other humidor, in that I try to keep it it the coolest part of the house/room. Summer normally isn’t an issue for me temperature wise, it has been a little harder for me to maintain humidity over the winter though. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Great video. Great work.
Thank you Dantony! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Hell of a good job
Thanks brotha!
Superb work.
Thanks Randall, I appreciate it.
Excellent craftsmanship……what type of glue did you use for your project?
Really great video, a great for me and my project. However, live in Las Vegas and I cannot find sheets of Spanish Cedar anywhere and no one can seem to order it. I went to the link that you posted on your video but they have a minimum of FOUR 4x8 sheets to order which I obviously can't use. So having trouble resourcing the wood.
great video....enjoyed it all.
So glad you enjoyed it Mark!
Incredible!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing job man! Love the office and I love this idea! Been looking at buying a wineador like the one you had but love this idea of making it into a part of the house
Pirhett thanks so much brother! I was really excited about how it turned out. The office is still a work in progress 😂, but we will get there eventually. Thanks for the compliments and if you have any questions when you start to make yours just ask! PSSITA!
Great video !! I was wondering what type of door sealant did you use on the front door ? And did you choose a different lock system for each of the door? Thanks !!
Hey Jeff. So for the sealant on the front door, I actually used weather stripping on the insides of the doors. For the latches, I used window latches. I found some that were cheap and looked really nice. I don't really have a need to lock it up, so I didn't put any sort of lock on it You can see the door stripping and window latches at @12:50. Thanks for the comment man and I am glad you liked it.
I wish this guy lived next door to me and could build me one.😊
Hey brother, come on down to bama and I would be more than happy to help you! I hope you enjoyed the video, and thanks for the comment!
Great video....wow
leonard piggie thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
How did you go about adding lighting?
Hey Brandon, thanks for the comment. In the beginning and in the video I used the little adhesive disc lights that I believe I purchased from Home Depot. They have the ability to changed colors, and have a remote control. After a while though, they started to not stick as well, I am guessing just because of the humidity. I think a better option might be to try the strip lighting, and maybe super glue it to the inside. Both are battery powered. Thanks again and glad you enjoyed it.
Its really awesome, no doubt about, more so because you upcycled something else. But I'm wondering about the controlling mechanism. Is this just a cabinet that you have to remember to put bowls of water into? Is there an aftermarket humidity packet, or regulator? So what's the secret to making sure its right with little or no maintenance? Thanks
Dude looks like Ryan Reynolds. Nice work too.
Haha. Thanks hilarious. Everyone says that. A lot of people at work call me Deadpool.
Wow. nice humidor. What is the thickness of cedar wood used for inner lining?
Hey Deeranga, the thinkness of the Spanish Cedar is 1/4" I ordered it online, and there should be a link in the description! Thanks for the comment!
@@DraysWorkshop Thanks alot Dray
Where did you manage to get large boards of cedar from
I envy your skills my friend.
Thank you Samuel! Glad you enjoyed it!
What caulking did you use? I’m in the process of purchasing so I can make one
Very nice work
Thank you Jose!
Very nice. I may have missed it but can you give me the links for where you purchased the Spanish cedar from please. I’m excited to start my own but due to this pandemic, finding Spanish cedar is a little hard.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Yes it was in the description, but it is www.totalwoodstore.com. They offer full sheets(4ftx8ft), but also offer smaller sizes as well! Thank you for the comment and Happy New Year!!
Beautiful job!
Thank you Alisson! I am glad you enjoyed it! Do you also enjoy cigars?
Absolutely Beautiful! One question I have - what's your favorite cigar?
Man you know that is a tough one lol. Going to be between Tatuaje Havana VI(more early morning light bodied), and the rest of the time it is between Foundations The Tabernacle and Liga T52 from Drew Estate. What is funny is that Nick Melilo is the owner of Foundation Cigar, and he blended both the Tabernacle, and Liga 9. I just love a good broadleaf stogie. How about yourself? Thanks for the comment as well.
@@DraysWorkshop The Lige Privada No. 9 from Drew Estate and the Oliva Series V are my two top favorotes at the moment. I'll have to give the cigars you mentioned a try!
That was very well done, I just have got one question. Why not use small staples instead of all the glue?
Hey Dewayne thanks for the compliment. I did use some staples to put in the spacers in the back of the humidor, but I was afraid they might blow out, and I knew the wood glue would be strong enough to hold it together, but I am sure if I would have looked a little harder I probably could have found some that would work! Hope you have a good day!
Hello, how many bovedas do you use here? I've seen 6 of them.
14:25 взгляд сигар на хозяина из хьимидора!
Also, what did you do about sealing the top and bottom of the doors? I saw you used the weather strip. But didn’t see anything about finishing the seal all around.
Yeah I used weather stripping around the inside. I put the bottom seal on the edge of the Spanish cedar in the bottom. For the sides(inside and outside) I placed them on the inside of the door. The top was a little tricky but I ended up cutting some plexiglass strips and attaching it to the inside of the top of the humidor leaving a little overhang to attach the weather stripping to. For the glass(I think I did that off camera) I used a clear odorless caulk/gasket sealer around the edges. This works well by the way, if you have some smaller glass top humidors. Obviously take out your cigars while doing it or while seasoning it. Holds humidity way better! Once again thanks for the comments and questions brotha. If you have Instagram follow me and send me some messages if you have anymore questions and I would be more than happy to help! (@drayworkshop)
Hi, amazing video,
Can you please let me know what spray are you using on 4:05? Thank you
Hey Stefan, the spray I am using is just a clear coat spray paint to act almost like a "sealer". I basically just sprayed the whole surface of the inside to help with any pores and to hopefully help with the humidity even behind the spanish cedar that I line it with later. Hope this helps, and glad you enjoyed!
Sahakians Voices in the background ❤️😎💯
I know I love both father and son! Such gentleman and have an awesome story! The link to the interviews I got these from are in the description if you would like to check them out
Congrats for your amazing and inspiring video, bro. What kind of chalk did you used for ensure proper seal between your layers of wood ? (Minute 2:02). Cheers
Hey Bruno! Just used odorless Window Caulk, does great and provides a great seal! Thanks for the compliment as well!
Great work brother. Any issues with it holding humidity? I want to build My own for my office. This video gives me inspiration and ideas on how to do it. Any issues ? Or things you would do differently next time? Video idea, “things I’d do differently if I did this project again.” Would you have built an even bigger one? My problem is Always outgrowing my humidors.
Hey OC! Thanks for the comment and I’m glad you enjoyed it! I am still really enjoying it. I haven’t had any structural issues or problems keeping humidity or anything like that. Looking back I would have probably put either the bottom shelf or top shelf at a little steeper angle(to allow for different depth boxes... for instance I made my shelves and angles based on holding a Padron box and marking the angle I liked... I also love Tatuaje cigars. His boxes are around the same length( the vitola I like anyways), but he makes deeper boxes. You cant see the cigars as well as I would like too. But other than that I am more than happy with it. The size is general(amount of cigars it would hold) seems great, but I also have 2 small humidors and the little coolidor you see in the video. I keep it pretty stacked but still have plenty of room. That is one reason I placed the top shelf higher to allow for box/bundle storage
Any problems with odors from the caulk and sealants getting into the cigars?
None really at all. I was worried about that myself. When I caulked the inside, I used "odorless" caulk, but it is never odorless LOL. So, I know its hard to tell from the video, but after I applied the caulk I let it dry for a day before I sprayed the clear coat on top of it, then I also let it sit for a while longer to let that dry before I started dry fitting the pieces, and then glued up the next day. It has been a couple of months having it filled, and opening it at least every other day, and I have had no issues. It smells delicious lol. Thanks for the comment and I appreciate you watching!
DraysWorkshop thank you for replying. I appreciate your time.
@@billymurges5959 no problem at all and I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Thank you for the great video. I am in the process of tearing down my brand new cabinet humidor and removing the compressor and heating element. I want to line it with mahogany with cedar drawers but after your video I decided to check the link for the spanish cedar that you used. It looks like they only sell spanish cedar "plywood". Did you use plywood? if so how is it holding up? I am concerned with the plywood sucking humidity out of the humidor and possibly bowing? Have you seen either of those issues with you build?
Thanks again for sharing.
Hey Doug, thanks for the comment my friend. I also did a good bit of research because I also questioned the reliability of the veneered plywood vs normal spanish cedar. One thing about plywood though, is if it is quality it should not move to much. Now if you just got a cheap piece from a local big box store the likelihood of it possibly bowing or warping is alot higher. After 6 months or so I have had zero issues at all with it. I have had a little issues with keeping humidity, but I blame that on my office being one of the cooler rooms in the house, and with cold, humidity in the humidor will lower. I also blame it on the 2 large glass doors. I did use a clear sealant around the joints, but I know some still escapes though there, as well as making it harder to control the temperature inside. When I notice the humidity start dropping I just pull out the old boveda packs, and replace them with fresh, and the humidity pops right back up. In my research I also found many others have used spanish veneer plywood, and I didnt find any stating they had too many issues with it. I hope I helped with your decision, and if you have any other questions just let me know. Thanks again for the comment my friend!
@@DraysWorkshop thanks for the input. I’ve decided to use the veneer plywood now trying to find it on the west coast is the challenge.
Very nice!
Thanks Joseph!
Where did you get your spanish cedar
WELL DONE SIR
Thank you Eric!
Very nice. I'm thinking of converting an old gun cabinet. Was wondering about covering the inside of the doors around the glass. I noticed you did not. Any issues with the moisture?
Hey Ray! No issues at all buddy, and I actually intended to cover the wood around the glass just one of those things I havent done yet. I did put a clear sealer around the inside of the glass though, and I really havent had any issues so far. Only thing I run into is that keeping the humidity in it during the cold weather months has been harder, but most humidors are like that unless you have one of the NewAir Cooler humidors. I just through an Extra Boveda pack in there and I am good to go! Thanks for the comment, and I am glad you enjoyed!
What type of glue did you use to glue the cedar... great piece I’m about to start on my soon.
Hey Classic, thanks for the comment! To glue the main walls, back, bottom and top I just used normal wood glue. You can get it at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Tire ins is the brand I use and have never had a problem. For all of the shelving and support pieces inside the humidor I used odorless super glue. It sets up really fast and is pretty easy to clean up if you accidentally get it somewhere unintended (like I did) 😂. I wish you luck buddy!
Maybe I missed it, but what are you using for humidification? I really wish I had the time, tools, patience, and talent to do this. But alas, I have none of those. :) Great job.
Thanks for the compliment Gary! Yeah you might have missed it but I use Boveda Packs for humidification. Since making the video I upgraded the packs to the biggest size they have. I had around 10 of the medium packs in there, and while you can recharge them, that just isn’t really efficient 😆. Man I’m sure you have the talent, I learned most of what I know from youtube, and practicing on smaller things in the beginning. Also, I know people talk about Harbor Freight, but when I started I got most of my tools from there, and then upgraded later. They work well, just not for someone who is a carpenter and uses them day in and day out. For home projects and things they would work out great for you! Once again I appreciate you watching and the comment! Have a great day!
what made you decide to use spacers behind the cedar that you mounted up the sides? Also the link for the cedar purchase doesnt work.
Hey I sent you a message back on Facebook buddy. The website is www.totalwoodstore.com. I sent the answer to your question on Facebook my friend. Have a great day!
THANKU!!! PERFECT
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it
This is a great video! I am in the process of building my own and found your video. I started with 4/4 (inch thick) cedar boards and milled them down into 1/8" thick boards I glued up into panels. I ended up building shelves similar to you. I love the idea of the walnut trim and will probably copy that idea for mine. I am using an oasis humidifier and one of the things I am struggling with is how to provide sufficient seals to be able to maintain humidity. I've decided to actually not use any at first and see if my humidifier will keep up. The other thing I don't have a lot of experience with is power management - for now planned on installing an outlet someplace inside the cabinet where I can plug in the humidifier and lights. Any information you have on that topic would be helpful. Also any learnings and/or things you would do differently now that you've had yours a couple of years would be helpful.
Really great job! I hope mine looks half as good.
First off sorry for being so late! I cant really help with the power management situation, as I maintain mine with the XL Boveda packs and that works really well for me. I do see a little struggle during the winter times, but nothing a couple extra packs doesnt help. For sealing around the doors, I just used adhesive rubber window seals. The one thing I would change in my build in particular, would be to adjust the upper shelves a little, and give me a little more room for box storage underneath the top shelf. Thanks for the comment and I am sure yours has turned or will turn out great!
@@DraysWorkshop Still working on it, but it's coming along nicely. Thank you for getting back to me.
@@rjrotermund Great to know! Let me know when you get it finished!
Great job man I’m gunna keep my eyes open for something similar to turn into one as well at some point down the road also great video man
Hey Arik, thanks for the compliment! Yeah be sure to check out Marketplace on Facebook, they always have something pretty similar up for grabs!
Do you use a bandsaw for everything?
On this project I did. You can probably see it in some of the shots because the humidor was setting on it and the outfeed table for my table saw.
I have it fully restored now, but at the time is was apart and not working, that is why I used the bandsaw for this project. Just made the most sense for the smaller parts and ripping when I needed too.
Thanks for the comment, and I hope you enjoyed the video.
Awesome!
Well thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Nice! Thank you
Thank you as well! Glad you enjoyed it!
What type of "clear coat" spray did you use?
Hey Wessel. Just a typical Clear Coat spray, nothing special. It was going behind the spanish cedar inlay so I knew it wouldn't be an issue. I also let it dry and air for around 6 hours before continuing work. Thanks for the comment!
