      Actually I think for once this troll (Walther Penne) is very close to being right.
      There aren't really that many 3D games on Switch running at 60FPS just like on all the other consoles. Of course there are tons of ports from the much more powerful devices coming over that also see FPS cut in half including games like Doom (2016), Wolfenstein II and Warframe.
      Switch just isn't that powerful. When a game like BoTW is 30FPS you have all these Mosuo games running at 30FPS when PS2 was running them at 60FPS (shaky yes, but it could hit 60hz) then you know there's something going one here that keeps new games from hitting 60hz. It's not even just console anymore this gen has seen the most framerate limited PC releases too like NFS: Rivals locked at 30FPS (though most PC releases are locked to a maximum of 60FPS if they have a limitation on them at all and that is still pretty rare).

    • @vandammage1747

      @@VariantAEC you're right about switch being weak and those ports of doom, fortnite etc are only 30fps.
      But those games are only ports and nintendo has a clear focus on 60fps. Only first party title that is 30fps that I can think of is Zelda.
      Also a lot of platformers like hollow knight, sonic mania etc are 60fps. But of course those are not demanding 60fps games.

    • @vandammage1747
      @vandammage1747 5 лет назад +7

      @Cyberdemon Mike , doesn't matter how demanding it is it's about devs targeting 60fps.

    • @VariantAEC
      @VariantAEC 5 лет назад

      @@vandammage1747
      Isn't Hollow Knight a 2D platform game with a 16-bit retro aesthetic... It would run at 60FPS on a GBC or PS Vita. There are also other titles made for Switch by 3rd parties using Nintendo's IPs that run at 30FPS as well as games made exclusively for Switch by Nintendo focused developers like Monolith Soft that also make games at 30FPS. Additionally nothing on Switch is visually demanding and is running at well over 30FPS via incomplete PC emulation right now!
      Suffice to say that if emulation is going well enough that Switch games using it are running over 40FPS on average on PCs weaker than my laptop that Switch hardware isn't just weak, but that *Switch is suffering from a massive overabundance of hardware weakness!*

    I think DK's less fuzzy fur on Ultimate was just the result of a different artistic design choice. I personally think it looks better as it complements the more cartoony + vivid dynamic lighting of Smash Ultimate.

    The game is freaking awesome for anyone that is wondering. Solid gameplay, massive story mode, the share amount of representation from different games are downright insane. And the graphic is downright perfect. It's also crazy how they actually manage to capture what different characters from different games is all about so tham well.
    And yeah wonder who playes 8 player ice climber matches or even playing 8 players at all in portable mode.
    And would say any 2 millisecond input lag difference likely would not matter at all as recovery times have also been lowered.

  • @TexelGuy
    @TexelGuy 5 лет назад +3

    Imo DK looks better in the switch version. I actually thought he didn't, but playing the game and watching more gameplays made it grow on me, even if there's no fur effect. It's a clean, cartoony design that I bet nintendo is going not for performance reasons and it still looks pleasing, atleast, compared to the half realistic (The fur part), half cartoony (The rest of DK's exaggerated features) DK that kinda broke immersion compared to the other characters. I mean, how demanding could fur like that be?

    • @kildaver
      @kildaver 5 лет назад

      Depends on how it's handled. It's either going to be textures with transparency maps (most likely) or particle effects (more often used for pre-rendered animation), and both are a little processor-intensive, especially if it has to be reactive like hair or capes are in this game.

    • @TexelGuy
      @TexelGuy 5 лет назад

      @@kildaver the fur on DK on the wii u looks really low density and quality, it definitely won't take up too much performance if the exact same thing was copy pasted on ultimate. If the wii u can handle it, the switch definitely can too, even with better detail in other areas since it's got more horsepower to spare over the wii u.

    How well does 8-player Smash perform in handheld mode in general? And 8-player Ice Climbers on stages that aren't Fountain of Dreams? Since it wasn't covered in the video, should it be assumed it runs at 60fps with no major problems?

  • @jenesuispasbavard
    @jenesuispasbavard 5 лет назад
