    Hi, umm I'm kindly asking for a little help here on how to make a tuiga. I'm trying to make a tuiga for my niece and I would like to know what kind of materials do you use or is it a box that you put all those things on it to create a tuiga and where exactly do you tie the lavalava that you use to tie on a bun. Thank you and appreciate your help!

      Hi! With the lack of raw materials from Samoa tht we have to deal with in the USA many people result to utilizing alternatives such as burlap and palagi made materials that you can find at the beauty supply stores near you and other craft stores. YES! I have used cardboard boxes for some of my first Tuigas only because it cuts out most of the weight on the entire headpiece when it is put together, mind you the entire Tuiga (if it is a tuiga Fau) it can be really havey on the head and unstable depending on many factors such as the decorations and other added materials to your tuiga.
      I will be posting a video soon of how to assemble a simple Tuiga Fau so that you can have a physical visual on what I am explaining. Thank you so much for reaching out and I apreciate your support. Manuia Lava le agai atu i le tausaga fou!

      Thank you! I am excited to get more people on board with understanding the craft and showcasing our culture to those who are waiting on the Tube. I know very few people have posted here and there but it will be a new beginning for Samoa and the expposure to its Measina. Faafetai and more videos to come.

    How would you put this type of Tuiga on a male with short hair?

    • @etelaginiupulusu2355
      @etelaginiupulusu2355  5 лет назад +1

      Hey, so with short hair these days a Tuiga Fau is worn by those who have longer hair. A Tuiga Pulou or one piece Tuiga is preferably worn by males or females with shorter hair. Traditionally there is a woven piece that fits on your head like a hat and the other pieces of the tuiga are the attached but rarely does anyone know how that is done now. Not worries I will post a full tutorial on the different assembly of each type of Tuiga both Traditional and contemporary.

      @@teatime9545 Hi! that's unfortunate, Its sorry you had to experience that. Tuiga fau is not easy to make because it takes money and good quality to have a sturdy piece. I definitely would love to collab and see what we can do together to help each other out. Thank you for the support, from one sister to another. Alofa atu x
