Did Cradle Mountain almost 20 years ago (05’ or 06’). The only mountain I’ve ever hiked where I turned around before I got to the top, I was pretty damn close though (only a few hundred meters I think) so gonna call it a win, I lost the trail and as you point out it’s a disaster waiting to happen so I decided to not risk it and turned around. I am still alive and thankful I made that decision. Thanks for the memories though, would highly recommend, even just the walk around Dove Lake is beautiful and much less taxing.
I thoroughly enjoyed doing the walk around cradle mountain, the weather was good on the day l walked it. Kept a brisk pace up and enjoyed the clean air and sense of timeless beauty...👍
I now know this place like the back of my own hand, including individual rocks and their scratches. I do not know where you are based, but it is definitely worth it to come back to this mountain again and again, exploring all the different paths around the area 🙂
Wicked vid guys I was up there a month ago didn’t see a soul it’s an incredible place hasn’t changed that much apart from the tourist control infrastructure, the bush is still epic thanks for your take on things cheers
Great video! You've been very lucky with the weather.. I tried this once a few years back but, due to the conditions changed very rapidly and I had to retreat 😯 So, glad you guys had better luck than myself. Thanks for sharing your fun with us!
my family did this entire track and decided to add crater and dove lake in snow that had turned into icy covered snow, we only just managed to get to the summit, a few close calls 😅
Thanks for sharing the informative video. I want to do the Cradle Mountain Summit. From your video, the trails to the Summit seem to be clear and do it on our own. Do you need a guide to do the Summit?
We had a great time on our own, but we’re no experts! Check with the local park for local guides and conditions so you stay safe. It was a super challenging final ascent for sure!
You should have skipped the Cradle Mt hike, and continued on the Overland Track - much, much better option! You would have been a long way away from you car when you finished though!! That “Fog rolling in” AKA low clouds! It’s a lovely place in this world!
That's good advice. We loved doing the summit for the experience. Shawn loves rock climbing so he was super happy. Next time, I hope we can do some longer overnight hikes in the park! It really is the loveliest place in the world :)
Thank you! It’s very well signed and easy to navigate. You can pick up a map in the visitor center. Definitely give yourself a lot of time for the hike. The summit attempt takes a longer than it looks.
Strahan Village is gorgeous. You have the Gordon River Cruise and the Wilderness railway. Fantastic. You can watch the video of both on our channel is you like 👍 .😀
The park doesn’t allow cars inside past the visitor center. Tasmania is best navigated by car. Then take the shuttle to the trailhead from the visitor center.
If you want a long day around the mountain, or even to walk back out after dark (with a torch of course), come early. On most days, I think until 8 am you can drive into the park past the boom gate and park at Ronny Creek car park. If you come after 8 am, the gates close and you can get in only by bus. The problem is that the buses stop running well before sunset so if you want to get back out on one, it cuts your day short. If you get stuck after dark, miss the bus, you can walk out from Cradle Mountain on the Board Walk, it is quite easy, but takes about 2 hours.
Great video. It only took 6 clicks to watching a decent documentary on the summit. Thanks guys!
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
This is exactly what I was after before my next week's tassie trip. Thanks heaps to y'all!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Very well made video, beautiful footage and informative. Thank you guys.
Thank you so much. We’re glad you loved it.
Great video, this has definitely made me think it’s worth seeing. 😊
Thank you! It's an amazing place.

Wow, you made a good call. Totally agree that the area around Dove Lake is so beautiful!

Sounds great! It's such a beautiful place.
Great video but now you need to do the Overland Track, continue on from Marions peak, 6 days of amazing Tasmanian bush, I'll be there next week end
Thank you! We definitely want to do the overland track in the future. Have fun on your trip!
Awesome hike! Thanks for sharing your experience with us
Thanks for watching! :)

We’re from the USA (now Europe). We hope to go back to Tassie. We loved it so much.

Thank you! We love Tassie so much. We were so lucky to have such a perfect hiking day for Cradle Mountain.
Great video!

We did indeed get so lucky with the weather! Good luck next time you try the hike! Thank you for watching.
Thanks for sharing, hoping to hiking it in a couple of weeks. Depends on weather and how daunted I feel on the day 🤣
Thank you for watching! We hope you have a great hike!
great stuff! our ferry over is in April ! whoop whoop
Thank you! Have a fun time in Tassie!
I have to do it now ! Thanks v inspiring
Thank you so much!
Fantastic 😊
Thank you!
Really should try Mt. Murchison! Also a bit intense but still a one day hike. The view on top can be even better.
Thank you for the recommendation! We hope to return to Tassie one day and spend more time exploring. We'll put Mt. Murchison on our next itinerary!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!!
It looks like the trail is very good but not at all easy.
I think my Blundstone boots from work should be good for this.
Whatever you are comfortable in will work! There might be some mud and there definitely will be lots of rocks. Have fun!

Wow! Glad you had a fun time!
Cool video..
Just few questions..
Starting time?
How many hours took to walk up and down (total- from starting point )?
Month you visited?
Thanks. We visited in the end of March. We walked from 9:30 am to 4 pm.
I did the steep side of Marion’s lookout when I was 7 😅
Woah! That must have been scary and fun!

@@DaysWeSpend Thank you for info and advice :))
Fantastic video, really helpful - How long did it take to get to Marions Lookout?
Thank you! It took us about 1.5 hours.
wow thanks for this video, very informative, and could really see the challenge you guys were upto. What time of the year
was it?
Thanks for watching! This was early fall. The beginning of March.
You should have skipped the Cradle Mt hike, and continued on the Overland Track - much, much better option!
You would have been a long way away from you car when you finished though!!
That “Fog rolling in” AKA low clouds!

Beatiful place in tasmania🇦🇺💙💜i have been there in 2019🇹🇱
It is! We loved it there!
You did it justice
Thank you!
Great video! I’m going to attempt this in a few weeks. Is it easy to navigate/well signed?
Thank you! It’s very well signed and easy to navigate. You can pick up a map in the visitor center. Definitely give yourself a lot of time for the hike. The summit attempt takes a longer than it looks.
Where's the nearest bathrooms on Cradle Mountain? Since the hike will be a few hours long from the summit and back.
The only bathrooms outside the visitor center are at Ronny Creek and Dove Lake.
Cradle mountain is beautiful isn't it!
So beautiful!! We loved it so much.
@@DaysWeSpend so did we. We loved all of Tasmania. Strahan Village was beautiful did you go?
@@kevinandange We didn't make it to Strahan Village. We loved Tasmania so much that we want to go back! There's still so much more to see!
Strahan Village is gorgeous. You have the Gordon River Cruise and the Wilderness railway. Fantastic. You can watch the video of both on our channel is you like 👍 .😀
Sounds good! We'll check out your videos!
Does this take a day hike to do it
Yes, it's a day hike. We hiked from 9 am until about 4 pm.
Hi, is it better to come by shuttle bus or just rent a car? Thanks
