Some closed beta footage that I never uploaded. Figured right now was the right time to upload this since it got delayed into 2023 recently. This video covers a bunch of the closed beta tracks. Six months ago this video was planned to be an "All Tracks" video, but I unfortunately ran into a bug / hard lock during the closed beta and could not continue. I think its safe to say that this game will be a worthy Mario Kart alternative.
Disney Speedstorm will be available for: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

This will be a worthy Mario Kart alternative.

Yeah its a bit unfortunate that it got delayed into 2023 but I wasn't expecting it to release in the last weeks of 2022. At least they have more time to make it even more of a worthy Mario Kart contender now.

Correct. but with micro-transactions I believe, which I don't mind personally if the game is good.

It looks neat but needs more villains. It seems like a no-brainer to have Cruella De Vil in her luxury car, for example.

If it's anything like dreamlight valley then rest assured. The lack of modern cart racers outside Nindo is a no brainer, that and the comp for animal X'ing means Gameloft (hate them if you will) have some very clever peeps on their team to sway Disney with the purchasing power. Personally I wouldve preferred Crash Team Racing but I love Dreanlight Valley so job done as it stands.

Wow you listed some obscure ones. Great namedrop on the Great Mouse Detective btw. I would imagine if this game does well (the delay is hopefully going to be worth it) we will see many of these characters if not in the main roster but DLC as well. So far it looks very impressive. Looks like it controls better than Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing. Will it control better or at least on Par with either Crash Team Racing or Mario Kart is the real question…? Will stand amongst the industries finest for Kart Racers?
That's like the whole Disney rosters😂 I wonder how much all that will cost, not that buying is an issue but it better be good. Also they need to put original OST not just remixes.
I remember when this got announced during the nintendo direct and people were hating on this hard. I really don't get what gamers have against other kart racers. Everytime a new one comes around they act like they're just so inferior to mario kart. They always say things like, "we don't need any other kart racers. We already have mario kart. Who asked for this ?". These same people eat up any new shooter, platformer, battle royale, fighting, action-adventure, rpg, and open world game that comes out though. It's weird asf to me. Tbh I just don't see how you can only enjoy one game within a whole genre. That sounds boring as hell to me lol. I couldn't picture myself only liking mario kart.
I never even played Mario Kart. I only played Crash Team Racing.
@Venom Rules All Mario Kart 64, Crash Team Racing, and Mickey's Speedway USA are the games that got me into kart racers. Mario Kart 64 didn't really age well. Looking back, Crash Team Racing was the better game. It just wasn't popular because mario is a bigger ip than crash. It also sucks Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (The Remake to CTR) didn't become mainstream. The game is really good. Sonic has a pretty good Kart racing trilogy. Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed is really good game. There's some underrated kart racing games out there. It's just too bad all kart racers get ignored since people are close minded and only care about mario kart.
I honestly have nothing against non-Mario Kart racing games. Mario Kart can sometimes come off as predictable, like you know the functions of items and drifting. Games like Sonic Racing and Crash Racing have a distinctive flare.
My only problem with the game is the serious tone it’s going for a DISNEY kart racer. I’m sure the game will be really fun, but I feel it would’ve been better if they went for a more cartoony style (idk if cartoony is the right word or not, maybe goofy). Also I don’t like how everyone drives a generic race car, it would’ve been cooler if they did what Sonic and Sega All Stars did and give everyone a unique car design that fits their IP (EX: give Jack Sparrow a pirate ship style car or give Mowgli and Baloo animal themed vehicles or jungle jeeps. Hercules could have a Greek or Roman chariot)
I have no problem with the existence of the game, and I encourage more kart racers to exist other than Mario Kart. I just wish a different direction was taken in development

@Dillon George Yeah, I agree. That's my biggest problem with it too. Disney probably should've went to a different developer. Not that speedstorm looks bad or anything (it looks fun) but I feel like another dev team would've gave it a more cartoony spin by letting the characters ride in vehicles from their respective franchises. They probably should've went to bamtang games. That team did a great job with nickelodeon kart racers 2 and nickelodeon kart racers 3. They made sure to give the nickelodeon kart racers trilogy a cartoony feel. In nick kart racers 3, you're allowed to ride in any kart or bike from any show. Speedstorm should've had that same approach.
The character models look a bit odd, but the stages look breathtaking. Just a shame the options for stages seem limited.
Hopefully we get to see much more soon.
I think kart games so strange in which players "drift" on the curves. It seems to have lost its essence since the time of the old mario kart

I’m a big fan of Mario kart and kart racers in general! I always live seeing characters from different worlds racing together. This game looks fun and neat but it’s missing the villains to give it that little action and spice :D
Also I really dig the music for the courses! Some are remixes of there characters theme but edm/techno and disco/house which is radical!!
I personally loved the Silver Screen track. Even though the game is delayed, I can’t wait until next year to play it. Gonna main Mickey, Goofy, and Donald.
Ok, while I grew out of the Mario Kart stage in college I’m still gonna try it out. Y’all hear that Hercules soundtrack remix? Not here for the gameplay but the soundtrack has me sold.
so it's essentially Asphalt 9 with Disney characters (as it's made by Gameloft)
What makes this kart racer stand out a lot more than others to me at least is how it's more focused on how you manage your boost much like in Asphalt rather than a fierce item battle like Mario Kart.
Although there are power-ups those also tend to be more boost focused with the exception of a few projectiles.
also Captain jack in a racing suit is something that feels forbidden but who am I to complain
It's good to see Mowgli and Baloo again. This two and Pocahontas are the characters i missed the most in Kingdom Hearts.
if they have multiple CCs and don't go aggressive with microtransactions, it'll 100% rival mario kart.

I wish it was more thematic 😕 Seems like any scifi kart racer with some Disney characters pasted on. The powerups could have been thematic and the art design more cartoony.
It's very disorienting the way camera acts when doing a turbo/boost. And it happens a lot.
Camera needs to be stable (and a little higher)
Karts looks generic. Would be better if every character gets their features on their own rides. They would make them feel special... Not like giang shoes on wheels.
Forget the game gimme the sound track cause Disney was going off with the music on this on this one! I'd be to busy jamming to even focus on the races at hand 😂
im hyped for it but after watching this the racing feels weird. the push every time u drift make it more like a "fill energy and push" game more than "race" I dk how to explain it lol

for the size of the wheels and the width of the tracks....they are surprisingly slow...no sense of actual speed. And for the price they are asking for this?! it needs polish.

I don't like disney speedstorm if the game developers says, it's rumored in 2023 release, the game will not in last gen console including ps4, if it's totally cancelled on the game release date in 2023, my dream is perished and over. Just ended like test drive unlimited solar crown in 2023

So it's Mario cart with Disney characters.
Cars look fugly as hell, not even matched to the characters. Tracks look interesting though, abilities and mechanics seems just a copy paste of Mario Kart, Crash Bandicoot racing thingy or any other similar.
