    Try squirting some oil in the cylinder and take the compression test again. If the compression goes up at all it’s the rings, if the compression stays the same it’s the valves

    I Have to agree with thedavies8754.. I went down that rabbit hole of twin cam tensioner scare stories after picking up a 2001 roading TC 88. I pulled the cam cover off and found tensioners to be in New like condition Bike has 10k on it. New gasket, cover on and new fluid. will recheck at 20k. which I will probably reach. Thanks for the video.

    Use the twin cam tensioner scare stories to get money off.
    Checking the tensioners is the easiest job ever.
    Spring inside tensioner is dead easy to check without removing the plate.
    25k on my tc88 and no notable wear on either.
    No point not replacing the inner cam bearings if the cams are out.
    Not much point putting the old lifters back in and who keeps the stock cams if they have done the job this far.
    The oil pump might as well go with the new cam plate going in.
    Stock push rods are fine and as the breather is a service item at the same time as the fuel filter,might as well take the wheels off and fit a new alternator with the front pulley and trans output oil seal.
    So remember, never take the plugs out unless you are serious about keeping it.

    what is the crank runout? And what did you find?

      Bent exhaust valve.

      thanx, That was a Fear of mine. I did my first stage 2 on my 103 with 20k. kind why i was curious about the runout. I read .03 and tehshoes where just showing tracks. replaced w/ Dual Fuelings. Nervous as all hell once complete.Replaced items: S&S lifters, Smith Bros adjustable pushrods and there " covers " , Star Racing 577 cams w/ koyo bearings. So far so good... read 200 psi both cylinder an I installed a T-Max ECU The most challenging part was TDC starting off seeing the cam chest marks was great. BUT leaking pushrod covers and retaining nut slips caused me to struggle madley to readjust correctly. Various videos where only partially helpful for the process. i know you could produce a better presentation. Thanx again@@socalmotorcycleservices2876"

    AFAIK, compression testing is supposed to be done on an engine at operating temperature. Also, sometimes a blast of compressed air around the plug, prior to removal, keeps possible crud falling in. No, bud. YOU make sure the wrench says "off" to remove the plug? Guy's a hack!

    Why not do a cylinder leak down test? Will tell you way more than a compression test. Just sayin! Lol.

      We always do compression tests first and since the compression was so low there was no need to do the leak down test. Either way the head has to come off so we Just popped the head and the damage was very obvious.

    I have the same bike but my is clean and run better and it's stock
