@@Lu1zh1 There is nothing vocal wise that sounds like Nergal or Behemoth. I'm going to assume you've never listened to Dimmu Borgir. Look up the album I mentioned You can listen to any song off that album and hear the direct influence but the most obvious one is the song Puritania. The over the radio robot vocals are a Shagrath signature. Ben uses it at the start of this song and through out Barren and Breathless.

Only reason you can still call them deathcore is due to the breakdowns but they are so much more. I would just place them in extreme metal. They include symphonic, prog, black, death, and metal/death core elements.
This is the direct problem with labels, breakdowns and vocals are still fairly deathcore sounding on all the singles.

That is the issue with classifying by genre. When a band mixes genres like Shadow of Intent, people argue about wether this is deathcore or symphonic black or this or that...

@@cryptorchiid I admire Ben and CJ, but tbh, I think that Ben has a better vocal rang than CJ. I love CJ's tunnel throat, but his other techniques are not on point like Ben's are imo. They are still two of the best vocalist of this genre (don't forget Dickie Allen too huh)

ᴅᴇᴠɪʟʙᴀʙʏᴊᴀᴍᴇs CJ is aright but you can’t understand a word he says plus he has to cup the mic live. Plus he stays in tunnel throat the whole time. Honestly signs of the swarm sucked and was boring with him and now it continues in Lorna shore. Being able to go low doesn’t make you a good vocalist. But clarity pronunciation and brutality are properties of a good vocalist. And Ben is probably the greatest vocalist to rep deathcore.
I find myself preferring Dickie Allen, that dude is just unreal. Ben is still a monster though!

@@cursedshinobi5769 Pretty good black metal band in which Ben Duerr has a lot of influence from. When he does the more quiet, witchy sounding vocals, that is what people are talking about when they refer to the style as "Dimmu Borgir" that is essentially the staple vocal sound to black metal bands.

@@cuttrogue you can't even really label this shit anymore unless you use atleast 4-5 genres to explain their sound, its constantly shifting atound sounds and nolding them together fairly well.
Re-listening to this just a bit ago has given me an ever greater appreciation for it. Specifically, or I should say especially Ben's vocals. Love the way he's annunciating here. A lot of his lows start low, and end even lower, nearly twice as low. It sounds very interesting. Expert vocal work.
This cd is the best deathcore album ever.... I cant believe how epic it turned out. You guys are on another level now I definitely plan on taking time off to see you guys in SLC

Words cant even begin to do how fucking sick this album is. I seriously still cant stop listening to it. I typically can only listen to a little deathcore here and there....but SOI make every song a musical bloodletting that keeps you on the fucking edge of your ears.
It amazes me how many people are saying this sounds like Dimmu Borgir. I don't really hear that too much. If anything, this song sounds like if Dethklok met The Faceless.
Duuuuude! That line 'to the monarch umbra I am bound', the buildup is insane. Then when that second part kicks in with the 'I am bound!' 🤌 it's just incredible!

ill be honest, i prefer reclaimer. i still think this album is brilliant and love the dimmu borgir vibes im getting in this song however theres a few songs that just arent hitting it for me unlike reclaimer which i think is a 10/10 masterpiece. the choruses in some of the songs i didnt like that much but the riffs, guitar solos and vocal techniques are incredible in pretty much every song. with that said, ill still jam this album on the regular, absolutely love gravesinger (btw im not hating on this album or the band i just dont think anybody will be able to top reclaimer for a very long time)
It’s too early for me to decide, I think I like this a lot more first listen, but that could just be my excitement while listening to it, I could totally understand why someone might like reclaimer more. This album and that album actually have some very pronounced differences but it still sounds like shadow of intent
I've listened to the new album about 6 times and yeah, Reclaimer is still better in my opinion. But this new album still goes hard as fuck
