I have two Bachmann class 25's of the same era and I've never had any problems with them. When the Heljan class 25 came out people raved how great it was but unusually for a Heljan diesel it didn't have anywhere near the haulage power of the Bachmann class 25 just a lot more detail but for me what counts more is the haulage power not the detail which in due course will all fall or get broken off.

Love the channel. It is a warm and friendly channel. A bit like sitting down for a chat with an old friend. Since you have had the new layout, everytime I see a train running anti across the bridge and it comes around to the left hand side, I expect to see a couple of metal detectorists or an archaeological dig with a roman, neolithic, and dinosaur layer in cross section going down the side. Every single time.

Thanks Bill for repairing my loco, can’t wait till it gets back to me to give it a good run, it looked good on your layout with the Mk2’s.
    Thanks again

I like these "dead in the water" (or "dead on the rails", to be more precise) episodes, especially now we can get deeper into the action via endoscope-cam.

Not the kind of modeling video I normally watch, but still mesmerising none the less. I couldn’t do that, wouldn’t know where to start. Now a subscriber and will check out more content.

So you have 1 25class running at some as a 125. Hahaha excellent soldering skills now have; especially those four wires to the pcb. Excellent video as always Bill. All best Marc from Leighton Buzzard

That was a strait forward step by step repair and you aced it as always. For 8.50 PS or 10.82 us I would always change the board in that case so good call. Great video, Jersey Bill.

A lovely model, and replacing the circuit board brings it back to like new. Personally I would have cleaned, repaired and fitted new components to the board where required, but I was an electronic engineer.
I am a little concerned about the soldering technique when you were fitting the bogies. Bringing the solder to the joint on the iron allows the flux to burn off and can lead to dry joints. If doing this you should apply some liquid flux to the joint first. The correct technique is to apply the tinned iron to the joint and then feed the solder in.

It might be on the early "Blue Riband" class 25's which didn't have lights. In due course with various model runs lights were fitted and different colour schemes.

The earlyer models sadly never had working lights, I have a BR Green example, and it's years old and runs as good as ever, the only thing I don't like about it is that it does not have working lights. I also picked up a BR Blue one second had, sound fitted and it' s great, and the lights make the world of differance (well for me anyway)... I am awaiting the New Tooled ones to come out.

@@mikeking2539 At ruclips.net/video/LDqVwu98N7w/видео.html the snail appears above the pcb board on his vest and from ruclips.net/video/LDqVwu98N7w/видео.html you see it more clearly above the right cabin of the loco with it's housing. I have to admid i am a little bit autistic, but that seems to be normal in the train enthousiasts community 🤣

The capacitor will have been removed for a good reason, it often caused jerky slow running on DCC. It did on mine anyway. I don't know about DC or later versions of the 25.
