Hi everyone. Its been years since I've published this video. I've since found a hack the will increase FPS at least 30 - 40% on Windows 10 systems. You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/AkMXlkn2qbc/видео.html

I have 64 bit, and a win. 10 computer and my fsx used to crash, but i have fixed the issue using the UIAutomationCore.dll and it works like a charm. I am indeed disappointed at Microsoft for not putting so much effort into FSX as it is so popular and will be for the next decade hopefully.

Thanks for watching. And I agree. FSX could have been so much more. However, P3D can trace its roots back to FSX. Most of the best addons work with P3D, so its an option.

So there is a guy that has a custom cockpit he built at home. Since he literally has dozens of moving parts all connected to his sim, I asked about his rig's stability, if he gets BSODs, FSX fatal errors and whatnot. This was is reply:
It works as should. I do not get freezes. Here's my rant, it's a cut and paste so some may not apply to your questions. Thanks for your interest.
FSX is a balancing act. It's more art than science. There isn't a machine that can run it full on. I suspect you've got too much going on. First and foremost you need to run a clean machine, no virus, malware, and I use a program like scan disk to clean it all up. Then you need to decide what you're trying to achieve. The original program was never intended for all the beautiful add on's we all like. A few tips....the biggest frame killers are traffic. I use UT2 but only at 40% and 100 planes generated max. Also, ground traffic in FSX. This is shut off completely. It's a huge killer. Light bloom is a huge killer. I use FSX booster to tweak the configure file....it takes a while to find what works for your system but these are the first places I would start. Google FSX tweaks and read a bit and you will start to see what I mean. To get my entire system to run as well as it does it's almost bare bones except for REX, ASN, UT2. But, in my case I fly a lot of IFR so I'm up high or in the clouds so I don't care much what the ground looks like. Also, if you want there is a photo folder titled 737 build under my pictures that is public. You can see much of the build there. Cheers!
Another thought I forgot. Autogen is a HUGE frame killer. I would start with all my sliders full left the do a few flight each time moving things to the right. When you start to get stutters and performance suffers you'll have an idea what your particular system can handle.
    Some things you can check.
    1. Air traffic,,,how high do you have it set?
    2. Ground vehicle traffic, huge frame killer
    3. Light bloom
Start be setting these all to zero,,,see what your performance is. If it's better start adding these back in in increments until you have a decent balance. Also, make certain you are running a clean, no virus, de fragmented machine.

EXCELLENT list. As an MCSE simming with FSX, I would 'approve' most of, if not all, that you have suggested.
Now I have a question that I need your 'help' with. Awkward for an MCSE to ask, none-the-less.. Is there a way or manner to save two different settings for those changes made to the 'services' one makes inside Component Services', or 'Services' as you have suggested; in WINDOWS 7 (PREMIUM)? Wouldn't it prove useful and convenient to 'swap' out one 'profile' for the other... For the life of me, I can't seem to get anything but a 'text' file (under Notepad). Seems there ought to be a way to save and export/import as a 'user profile'. I typically do my MSCONFIG first; then go to 'Services' through the 'Tools' tab found therein. I find it helpful to have quick access to those open tabs in MSCONFIG as a means to reference changes I will make in 'Services' This process going 'one way' takes about an hour...
2X per month I will bring settings back to 'normal' and look for updates that are scheduled by MicroSoft and others (Java; Norton; Malwarebytes; etc) Spending an hour going back and forth is just plain 'CRAZY'!
I've also used the 'Scenery Configuration Editor v1.19' to monitor Virtual Addressing (VAS) issues as well. This, though dependent on installing FSUIC, helps with the work arounds...Another 'useful tool' is Russinovich's 'Systems Internal Process Monitor'... This reveals more 'real time' 'virtual size' (VAS) usage of those services left to run after one has made suggested changes inside of 'services' or Component Services... Check it out! One may effectively 'diagnose'/turn off additional 'uneccesary' services, meanwhile monitor live VAS usage...
Hoping to hear something on the issue with the 'services' user profile from you soon! Thanks!

I was wondering this same thing. I know I've booted windows with selective startup before, and was thinking that would be the way to go to limit background service, but I'm not sure. At least then I could simply restart the PC without that option to run normally when not flying.

Thanks for watching. I think the end is near for FSX boxed and Steam. That said, all these tips apply to any game you want to play, if you want to increase performance.

You are right it is about the end of fsx steam i notice some developers only made stuff for P3D v4 but not fsx. Sad but 32 bit is not the thing no more. For me however i am going to keep using fsx untill i get me a better pc to run P3D v4.

I note your comment about killing wifi. An alternative if you must rely on wifi is to use a wifi range extender which usually has an ethernet jack and wire your computer through that.

This is true. fsx steam and P3D are 32 bit apps. They are dead end simulators. DSC, xplane, and presumably Dovetail will be the future of flight simulation. in the meantime we can continue to squeeze every ounce of performance using these tips. gonna be a while before I give up fsx.

+Rohith Augustine I upgraded to Windows 10 one of my rigs. Its nice. I like it. But I'm hooked on on Windows 7. They will have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

      +Flightsimguy oh ok.
I upgraded to windows 10 but its way way slower than win 7.
I want to revert it but i am not able to!

Do you know of a way to run the game in remote desktop? I can deal with some lag, I just want to be able to use it with my laptop around the house, but just leave it installed on the desktop downstairs. I just get an error saying it's not supported. "Flight Simulator cannot run in a remote desktop session and will now exit"

you cant do this, severe input lag, locked to 10-15 fps

One of the best optimizations is to get Rid of Google Chrome and use Firefox or Opera GX
