I’m teaching my teenagers to do the same. Even if it wasn’t Haram you don’t want to live married life and expect the other to take you serious or marry you. I feel like celibacy is something every woman should do. You learn to respect yourself, to love yourself and more than anything you learn to say 'No' to anything you feel/know is below you. Basically you never settle. I feel like women need to learn to give themselves everything before expecting it externally. I've had peer pressure aswell but for me it never mattered because of the way I'm treated at home. In Zulu African Culture, a girl gets a ceremony/ritual done at 21(if she's a virgin) called Umemulo. It's your parents thanking you for respecting them, the community and it's them asking God and ancestors to continue to guide you whatever your path. They give you their blessings to do as you please because you're now going to be considered an adult. I'm Zulu but then my religion says that sex prior to marriage is not the way. That's what people around me don't understand. People view it as a burden when it's not. It's normal, actually tbh it's mad amazing!! So church is what gives me motivation in a spiritual sense. Within our church community, those abiding by Gods law are treated like gold (both males and females). You get to be with many others from all over the country, who just like you are celibate. They nurture talents. We sing together and do may fun activities. So basically I feel like if you're going to be celibate, associate yourself with others walking in the same path. So basically it helps you to be indifferent to peer pressure.
